Hey, guys. X3
Just posting a thread for us to discuss, the, World in which the, "101 Dalmatians The Series" happens to be set in.
As we know, the "Series" location notable switched from, "London, UK" to, "Gruteley, Somewhere In, America"...
This can consist of the, Actual, Gruteley Town, The Island City, Topstown, The Mall Town of, Stiffle, Along with, "Dearly Farm" near what is believed to be called "Trickle Creak" (It is stated to be one half mile in "Barnboozled") with a Forest or Swamp serparating it from, "Villa Devil". There are also some, Mountain ranges near along with A Desert as well, (Though, they did drives for days and miles to get towards a, Desert). o.o
While, I can see how come they did this, possibly to gain more possibilities, considering there aren't any deserts within the, UK along with the fact that the nearest true mountain ranges are most likely a, Five or Eight Hour Drive to get all the way to, Scotland. But still, At least they did regard the, Original Setting of, "London" within one of the, Episodes. X3
Though, I am still unsure on what, State, Gruteley can be set in, Do any of you have any suggestions?
So, What you guys have to say about the, Locations on the, "Series" or suggestions of what is also close by, or even it's states? X3
So, What you pups have to mention upon this subject? *Hugs* X3

It’s difficult to say. In Dalmatian Vacation, they travelled east across the country, through a desert, in order to get to the city in which Anita and Roger were married. However, Snow Bounders showed that the Dearly Farm isn’t too far south because they receive heavy snowfall. However, the swamp really throws a wrench into things because there aren’t swamps like that in the north.
It’s not a fun answer, but I suppose it doesn’t actually a specific setting. They simply put in things that were needed for specific episodes, and sometimes, things contradicted themselves. I believe the grand waterfall of Hiccup Hole is evidence enough of that…

Our previous thread... sparkydearly.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=3679As the Huntsman stated the show's writers created a generic setting from which this question has no real answer, they probably threw in a little bit of every region so all kids would have something to relate to. Still it's fun to discuss. Although they headed east through a desert in the finale, "Lobster Tale" heavily implied the show is on the East Coast of the United States or at least on a large body of water (the Pacific Ocean or the Great Lakes could pinch hit in that area). Fresh lobster is largely a New England-thing but with air freight these days you can get fresh fish almost anywhere. To make that or anything work may require considering that Roger's route in the finale wasn't directly east, maybe he ran west for a stretch (Arizona is in a desert area and is where several MLB teams have spring training, perhaps he drove out there and then turned around to come back.) Last time we narrowed it down to five states based on features such as water access ("Lobster Tale"), colder climate allowing for snow ("Snow Bounders" and "A Cruella Christmas") and legal greyhound racing (Tic Track Toe). Under that I think the best possibilities would be... Admittedly there are no deserts in the Eastern portion of the United States for the first four, although all five would likely see you take a long drive to get to one... 1. Connecticut- can probably be ruled out as it only has two mountains, of course New England as a whole is quite mountainous in parts so its not like there aren't any more than a few hours drive away. Still it's on the Atlantic Ocean 2. New Hampshire- has plenty of mountains and cold weather, on the Atlantic Ocean but only a very small amount, has swamps. Borders Maine which is home to the so-called "Desert of Maine" but that's just a tourist trap and in no way a real desert. 3. Rhode Island- The smallest US state is probably too small to be the 101 location but it has some mountains, is on the Atlantic Ocean and has swamps. 4. Wisconsin- To even consider this one you'd need to retcon of the pup's ocean visit in "Lobster Tale" actually being Lake Michigan. On the plus though Wisconsin is an area stereotypically known for farming especially in the dairy area (the episode "Channels" could support this, I can't see an award ceremony for a diary cow being TELEVISED LIVE anywhere else). Wisconsin also has swamps and mountains and is west of many major US cities so who knows. 5. Oregon- We excluded this one last time but it may work as it is cold, on the Pacific Ocean and has plenty of mountains and swamps. Since it's on the West Coast of the United States there is also a desert between it and any large cities to the East. With that "East" direction in the finale factored in I think this is the best bet. None of these five states have any oil production as seen in the Cruella World episode, although Wisconsin and Oregon border states that do (perhaps explaining the need for a pipeline).
