Soundwave is back, I'm hearing he gains a SUV as a new alt mode.
Somehow I just know Ironhide is going to bit it in this movie.

Whoever came up with the subtitle for this movie must have bad grammar, because it just doesn't sound right to me.

Okay… I am going to give my honest thoughts on Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
As a warning I do give quite a bit away, so see the movie first.
The plot is about Sam Witwicky having graduated college and now has to get a job, while at the same time getting caught up in a long-forgotten conspiracy that involved the first moon landing back in the 1960s. All this leads to Optimus Prime and the Autobots having to find and revive a long lost Autobot commander named Sentinel Prime and his possession of 5 five pillars that would complete a Decepticon space bridge.
The plot, in a sense, reminds me a little bit of some episodes of the 1980s series, specifically Season 1's multi-part "The Ultimate Doom" and Season 2's two-part "Megatron's Master Plan".
Now, I will say I saw this movie in 3D, and… wow, this is some pretty impressive material; as critics say this is the most impressive use of 3D technology since Avatar and gave the 3D movie-going experience the shot in the arm that it needed. Unlike recent movies like Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Green Lantern, 3D is the way to see the movie.
For the humans, Sam, his parents (in smaller doses here), Major Lennox, Sargent Epps and Agent Simmons all come back, all that’s really missing is Mikalea, and although we know the real life story behind her disappearance, in this film she is said to have dumped Sam and left Wheelie in his possession. Carly, on the other hand, will make you forget about her—Mikalea was kind of a skank, but Carly is more like a charming type of girl with a more stable job and less sl*tty attitude.
In this film Sam and Carly are still the main reasons we care about the human characters, and thankfully some characters that like Agent Simmons is still major recurring character, we see less of Sam's parents.
For the Autobots, Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Ratchet, Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Wheelie all come back, this time they are joined by Mirage, Wheeljack, Brains and the Wreckers.
For the Decepticons, Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave return, and they are joined by Shockwave, Laserbeak and—yes, Barricade! In spirit of the cartoon some of the humans also are lured into serving them.
To start off, the movie seems to have a more complex story than the first film and one that makes more sense than the first sequel, and while it can still be a bit hard to distinguish characters from time to time, the characters have more evident personalities and it seems like there really is a lot at stake here. Through their blackmailing and invasion tactics the Decepticons are truthfully menacing; I mean there are a lot of human casualties as a result of their misdeeds. I mean for one thing…
In the first movie, when Jazz was killed by Megatron his death didn’t seem to mean anything. In Revenge of the Fallen when Arcee and the other two fembots got killed it meant even less. I was even okay with Jetfire’s sacrifice at the end of that film. But… when Ironhide actually gets blasted to scrap—there honestly was a lot of weight behind it. I absolutely HATED seeming Ironhide die.
I didn’t want to believe RaceFan. But it happened. On the other hand, Leonard Nimoy comes back to provide the voice of the film’s main villain (hint: it’s not Shockwave) and he does a fantastic job.
For stuff that I didn’t like, well… I think it would have been nice if we could have a stronger reason why Milaklea decided to leave Sam, though it probably would have been difficult without either Sam looking like a geek or Milakea looking like a sl*t. At the same time, Skids and Mudflap, who had a major role in ROTF, are gone with no explanation. I understand that they got rid of them because of the backlash against them. In some illustrated media they were killed at the hands of the main villain, but they don’t even go back to refer to them. At the same time, it’s nice to see Barricade return, but in this film Shockwave is just seen as a (no pun intended) faceless mook, and Megatron and Starscream feel like they get less screen time here than in ROTF.
To say the least this film makes up for Revenge of the Fallen—for the most part. This movie will not change your mind if you didn’t like either the original film from 2007 or Revenge of the Fallen, but while it’s not high art, it’s fun, and not too many other summer movies from 2011 can say that.
For my personal thoughts, the original film from 2007 is probably always going to be my personal favorite, but from a critical standpoint, this film might be the best of the three. Michael Bay even says this is going to be the final film in the series, so I think we can say it’s good to see the film series finish on a good note. At least until they either renege on that statement and make a fourth movie or they issue a reboot (and with how successful these films have been financially it wouldn’t surprise me).

Are the Wreckers of any real use? I had heard they play up the "dumb redneck" NASCAR stereotype.

To answer your question Race, the only character that seems to even suggest that is Leadfoot (the red colored bot with the Target logo on his hood). Roadbuster (the green one with Amp logo) is honestly pretty smart and has a Cockney accent. Topspin (the blue one with the Lowe's logos) doesn't really get any lines (it's thought that Bill f*ggerbakke was going to do his voice).

I find that a fourth movie would be extremely unnecessary. Especially since ALL of the Decepticons were destroyed.
I really didnt like the third movie that much. It seemed too drawn out. The action scenes were good, but when Ironhide got killed off, that pretty much ruined the vibe for me through the rest of the movie.
In my opinion, they should have stuck with the first movie, and leave it as that. I pray that they dont make a new movie.
*Has been a large Transformer fan in the past few months*

The fourth movie is now into production and they've started showing off the new Autobot alt modes. Optimus is modernized into a new Western Star rig and Bumblebee's been back dated into a rather gaudy resto-mod 1969 Camaro. There's also a new C7 Corvette (Tracks? That car isn't in showrooms yet) and a Bugatti Veyron... www.topgear.com/uk/photos/transformers-4-first-pics-2013-05-30At least Michael Bay was finally able to do a non-Transformers film, the recent action film "Pain and Gain" which came out about a month ago. I still haven't watched the third all the way through, I'm not even going to bother with the fourth.

It's just like what happened after the 1986 movie.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon was still a box-office success, but reportedly Hasbro was not satisfied with the sales of the toyline blaming the idea that by the third movie chances are you probably have movie continuity characters like Ratchet, Bumblebee and Starscream, and have no need to double-dip.
