Hey Pups! =3 Just a bit of a Discussion that quite a Number of Pups have been on about lately. =3 And that's to the case of, Is Freckles, Male or Female? I recall that, Paws once claims to say that, Freckles is Female, based on a Pic of a Pin, where it seems, Freckles had Eyelashes. Although, I myself, think, Freckles is a Male Dalmatian Pup. =3 Now, I know there are some, who say the Pup on Pongo's head in the "Ol' Thunder Always Wins" Scene, is Pepper, and I will admit, In the "Disney Dogs" Book, It even has a Sketch of the Dalmatian Pup on Pongo's head with the name, "Pepper" beside it. However, I can Support my claim of, Freckles being Male, with an Official Disney Source. This Book... And according to the "101 Dalmatians" Section, this is what it says about, Freckles. ;3 Note to how it says "Freckles has Spots on His Nose", clearly identifying him as Male. So, What do you Pups think? =3 Is, Freckles a Male or Female Dalmatian Pup? X3 Looking forward to hearing what you, Pups think on the Matter. *Hugs* X3

Freckles is a boy with a red collar, Speckle is a girl with a pink collar (I think).

I still say female, cause to me Freckles sounds more like a girl's name.
But I think Disney had issues with the chars, like here Freckles is described as a male.. while on Paw's pin Freckles has eyelashes, thus indicating a girl.
They need to keep better track of their characters XD

I very much agree with Neems in that Disney can't cognise their characters. I do think that Freckles is male though.

Eyelashes? That's it? That is hardly conclusive. In the book they directly state that Freckles is male there is no room for interpretation on that. While eyelashes are more indicative of a female character they can be found on male characters. I would agree to this character being male.

Let's see here... This is Freckles in the original movie, pretty much the only appearance they make: And then here's Freckles in the sequel (in one scene their missing the spots on their nose, but it's still them because the spot patterns are similar): What do you guys think? In the original, Freckles looks like a male, but in the sequel, looks a bit like a female. I'd like to hear your opinions. (P.S. You can tell who this is by spelling the guest name backwards & removing the first 3 letters... yeah yeah, don't get all excited, I'm not back for good, I'm only here to prove a point in this thread so hush )

I'm not sure, it is really hard to tell the sex of a dog character based on appearance. If we could do that we wouldn't have this thread. To me freckles only looks kind of female in the last one without the nose spots.

This one has been confusing me a lot too. Some pups on this board have told me that Freckles was female, while others have been telling me Freckles was male. So, which one is it?

Chances are Disney will not give this an official answer. All we really know is there are 8 male puppies and 7 female puppies. The characterized male puppies' names are Dipstick, Fidget, Lucky, Patch, Rolly and Wizzer, and the characterized female puppies are Cadpig, Jewel and Two-Tone. Freckles and Pepper seem like their genders will not ever be fully defined and Penny...well, she could BE Cadpig for all we know.
It's just like how in Transformers: the Movie Hasbro never officially stated wheter Cyclonus was either the Insecticon Bombshell or the Decepticon Jet Skywarp.

Freckles is a boy with a red collar, Speckle is a girl with a pink collar (I think). I meant a Blue collar, not a Pink collar.

I personally doubt the consistancy of the franchise regarding these very, very minor characters. The also Disney-published book "The Lion King: Six New Adventures" (as well as the script for the first movie) tells us that Simba had a son, Kopa, at the end of the first movie, but he is not seen, nor mentioned in the sequel. The fandom actually treats this as Kopa being murdered by Zira before the events of the sequel.
If that is anything to go by, you can assume Disney is not always consistent within their own franchises. It is not like the pups in the movies where super developed characters with a rich personality or anything, so I suggest fans to treat Freckles as the gender they prefer.
