Time to do some actual discussion of the series so lets start with the most basic question: What are everyone's favorite episodes?
Here's some of mine...
"Tic Track Toe" - The one with Go-Go the greyhound. As it was (rightfully) the only racing themed episode of the show I got a great kick out of this one. The jokes were funny, especially the ones where the main four try to get Go-Go out of his funk, and then of course we did get some racing action on an oval track so that's close enough to NASCAR to be really fun for me. The fact I only saw it well into the Toon Disney rerun cycle after I thought I had already seen every episode probably helped a bit too.
"Frisky Business" - Again being a car guy I enjoyed the vehicular mayhem in this episode. The pups actually steal a car! I want to know what pedal I have to press to pull a wheelie in reverse. Plus again the jokes delivered ("I prefere the term locationally challenged").
"Out To Launch" - I love all the Cold War jokes in this episode ("Bankrupt commie countries are practically giving them away"). It may be one of the few times I've found myself laughing out loud at this show and then chuckling later thinking about them. Can I get the "Destroy the Free World" options package on my next car?
"Channels" - Another really funny episode, the pups misadventures were cool (minus the cow one) while we got a few good gags from the secondary plot of the farm animals watching TV. Cruella's a real scene stealer as well with some rare real villiany, in one of her funniest bits in the series she casually robs a bank but no one really cares because "it's mostly all her money anyway." Plus this one ends in the series' only full-blown car chase with the pups at the wheel for the finale. What could be better?
"Full Metal Pullet" - The closest we ever got to a "Meet Spot" episode. It does a nice job of introducing her to the show, and giving her some guts off the bat, but more importantly we got to see Tripod's gang for the first and shamefully only time. Lt. Pug also makes his debut and given how unpopular it appears he is he makes for a very good villain (nice to see a drill sargent character who isn't just another ripoff of R. Lee Emery's character in "Full Metal Jacket.")
"The Fungus Among Us" - Not a big fan of the entire episode but the twist at the end that Horace and Jasper win was refreshing. They don't get to come out ahead but they still beat the pups and accomplished their goal, which given how they were pretty sympathetic in this continutity was nice.
