It was Lucky whom had first found it. The glowing, pulsing blue stone that was buried in the dirt. He was digging near Towzer's Hill when he stumbled upon it- and that’s when it all started. Lucky- being Lucky, summoned his friends- Spot, Cadpig, and Rolly. All of them needed to see his discovery, all of them needed to witness how great he was. He was the one whom had found it, he was the one whom was going t be rich, amassing fame and fortune from the simple rock he had found. Cadpig, however, had been the first to touch it. She had accidentally, batted it with a paw- and then lifted it up over her head as if she'd been taking an extra dose of steroids with her canine krunchies. over active minds , ignoring the danger from a rock such a this produced another set of tests. Rolly was next, touching the rock, he was...the same, he found- only he could stretch. He could stretch himself to the farm and back! Spot was next- and she found she could fly. Not just hover, and try to stay aloft, like she did as a chicken, by fly like a jet. Zooming here and there, left and right, up and down, it was incredible! Lucky- could move like lightening. He was the fastest runner of them all, and now he was the fastest pup on the farm. He could race circles around the globe- if mom ever let him...They broke the glowing blue stone into for pieces...and those four pieces were attached to thier collars.
Word spread fast for the pups new abilities. Super strength, super speed, they did deeds. Good deeds, saving cats from trees, helping the bark brigadge on missions- It was the life Lucky had always wanted...it was the life he was meant to have...it was a very, good life. Even Tic-Tac, had decided to stay away from them, and when Lucky paid the little brainiac runt a visit, Tac was respectful...he was even fearful! It was the most fun Lucky had ever had in his life...
"So, Cadpig! Whats on the Agenda today?" Lucky asked with a chuckle, his glowing blue collar glimmering brightly as he trotted over to his sister. He rested his rump in a soft pile of hay and grinned, as Cadpig fished out her daylily planner. It was hard work, being a super hero...
"Ok, Lucky, at 2 we're supposed to be given the key to the city, at 3, we have a commercial for Canine Krunchies, but that might need to be pushed to 5, because at 4 we over heard the Crimson shadow gang planning to rob the bank in the city. at 7 those poodles you and Rolly met were supposed to "Show you around town" The runt grumbled. At 8, we have a fire works show in our honor, and at 9, we have to be home for bed.” The little super strengthen runt quipped. Lucky grinned and sat back, closing his eyes. It was almost 11 o’clock. Time for a bit of rest before…”
“Lucky! Your gonna miss Thunderbolt! It comes on a Lunch time now, remember?!” a voice called. Patch. Lucky’s biggest fan now that he was a super hero. Lucky chuckled, and yawned. Thunderbolt? Who had time for pretend super heroes when he was a REAL super hero. But Patch was persistent. His voice on the edge of fear.
“Lu, Lucky? He’s got me…, y, your ole’ pal T, t, Thunderbolt. I’m being h, h, h, held in the o, old Silo at Cornham’s Farm. P, please come get me! He’s Crazy!! He’s CRAZY!! He’s a puppy! He’s one of yours I think! He’s Got an X sh- “ The feed cut out. Lucky stared, wide eyed at the television screen. He already knew what had happened. He knew automatically what had happened. Tac. It was Tic-Tac, who had kidnapped Thunderbolt. It was Tic-Tac who was going to use him as a bargaining chip or something.
“Hand over your Collars and Thunderbolt Lives.” He’d say. Lucky growled, grinding his teeth together…Cadpig and Rolly were already standing next time him, Spot hovering overhead.
“Lets Go.” Lucky hissed Darkly. Tac was going to pay for this. He was going to pay dearly. They reached the silo in record time, Lucky hurrying them along to help rescue his once idol…but when they arrived, there was no one in sight. No one at all. They searched the place. From top to bottom, everyone using the super powers bestowed upon them to look. Twice even. It had taken two hours, but they searched every rock, nearby tree and room of that place. Nothing. No sign of Thunderbolt, no sign of tracks, no sign of Tac. Lucky, whom was rather impatient, raced to L.A. where Thunderbolt was supposed to be filming a new movie- and was VERY shocked to find Thunderbolt, actually there, shooting a stunt. When he returned to Gruetly, he shrugged.
“I don’t get it…This wasn’t…what was that we saw on T.V.”
“A trap?”
“This isn’t a trap.”
“Then what is it?”
“…….It’s a Decoy.” Spot said suddenly. Her face pale and grim. They pups looked at one and other- and suddenly, they all knew what to do. They ran, as fast as they could back to the farm.
And when they got there (Lucky ahead of all of them, of course) It was completely empty.
