Okay, this is not a real movie, but this is just an idea I had, and I thought it would be pretty cool if it happened.
We all know about the original Space Balls, the 1987 Mel Brooks comedy that spoofed the Star Wars movies. However, recently, when George Lucas made the Star Wars prequel trilogy, I wondered if Mel Brooks would make a prequel to Space Balls. If he did, here are some of my ideas on what it would have been like:
1. The film would be released this year, in 2011. The reason why I say this year is because Star Tours opened in Disneyland in 1987, the same year the original Space Balls was released. Since the Star Tours makeover just opened in 2011, it makes sense, and it would keep with the tradition.
2. The movie would be called "Space Balls: The Prequel", which is to keep the tradition of the movie's running gag of "Space Balls: The...", and since it is a prequel, then that will be it's title.
3. Given that Mel Brooks is still alive at this point, he would be reprising his role as the voice of Yogurt.
4. Dot Matrix will also be in this movie, with Joan Rivers reprising her role as the voice of her.
5. The movie will be loaded with a bunch of other brand new characters; most of which will be played by current-day comedic actors like Steve Carrell and Kevin James.
6. Barf will be shown at one scene in the movie as a Buppy. Get it? Since he was a Mog in the original, he'll be a Buppy in the prequel. I'm not sure who will play him, though.
7. There will probably be a brief shot of Princess Bespa as a baby with a younger form of her father.
8. The main character of this film will be a young adult played by some kind of comedic actor, and at the end of the film, he will become Dark Helmet. It won't be Rick Morranis, though, because he's retired from his acting career due to family concerns. Probably played by somebody fresh.
9. Lonestar will probably not be in the film (not even in child form).
10. Like the original, there will be references to other famous movies in the film that are more recent like Paranormal Activity and Final Destination.
11. The soundtrack of the film will be provided by current pop artists, since the original film's soundtrack was provided by 80's pop artists. However, the music at the opening prologue will still be the same one from the original film to keep in tradition with the Star Wars films.
12. Throughout the film, they will keep making fun of the fact that it's not as good as the original, since this was the case for the prequel Star Wars trilogy as opposed to the original Star Wars trilogy.
So, judging by those ideas, what do you all think of that?
