www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSX2oxLdcWAThe sequel to the live-action G.I. Joe movie comes out next summer...and after seeing the trailer it's hard to see why they even made it. This G.I. Joe seems to have lost a bit of the silliness and flavor of the franchise and actually seems more like it completely against what G.I. Joe is about (Since when is the actual American government the bad guy in this franchise? The Joes were originally our "daring highly-trained special missions force" before they gradually became an international alliance). The Joes aren't about politics, they are about selling toys and beating up Cobra. Only Duke, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are back from the first one (despite the fact Storm Shadow died in the first one). Even Cobra Commander and Destro aren't in the movie! We do get the Rock and Bruce Willis which is nice but meh. If there is a saving grace though they have finally added the ever-awesome Flint and Lady Jane to the character lineup (played by D.J. Cotrona and Adrianne Palicki).

Something weird I noticed about the four major Hasnro toy lines:
- All 4 of them were introduced in the 80's and were popular then. - All 4 of them had their own cartoons in the 80's. - All 4 of them each had a movie in the 80's. - All 4 of them now have their own brand new animated series on the Hub.
I wonder if there's a pattern here?......................................probably not.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=5x7pFRXrj1cG.I. Joe is back now equipped with Bruce Willis and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Oh, and London and going to be completely destroyed in a ground warping explosion. Anyone have any thoughts on this sequel? Honestly I think the first one looked like more fun but it looks like Cobra Commander is recast and back with a more traditional helmet.

Wow, I didn't see that coming. Hadn't the TV spots already started airing? What does this say about the quality of the film?
At least it does look like a recast Cobra Commander is in the movie with a more traditional looking helmet. This franchise is having trouble building up buzz.

Why do I get the feeling, they were somehow going to make the Battleship movie take place in the same Universe as the G.I.Joe movie, but then when the Box Office of Battleship came out, they figured they had to reshoot some scenes? o.o

No, they aren't connected. The delay is to edit G.I. Joe to make it 3D and hopefully more profitable.

The more I hear about this movie the more I think they may have been a little off track in making it or perhaps outside factors were against them. Now it's been confirmed the movie originally killed off Duke, the main character from the old cartoon the toyline and the first film and the only non-Ninja returning, very early in the film. To fix this they are doing reshoots to add more scenes with Channing Tatum as Duke to the film... thecelebritycafe.com/feature/2012/05/gi-joe-2-delayed-add-more-channing-tatumWhy make the movie at all if you are just going to kill off the cool characters from the first one?

Yikes. And to think the original intention was to have Duke die in the original animated movie.
Maybe the reason had something to do with them wanting the audience to care for the Joes and not the Cobras.
What I thought was a bit of a problem with G.I. Joe was the fact while both the Joes and the Cobras get development and you can care about both sides, the Joes seem kinda boring and unbeatable next to the Cobras, who get more colorful dialogue and we have the idea that they are clearly flawed. That was sorta the problem with the original cartoon--the audience cares for the villains to the point they cheer for the wrong team.
Probably a reason I always prefered Transformers over G.I. Joe.
