Have any of you guys seen this movie? I saw it during my trip and honestly.. I didn't really think it was that great ^^;
The animation and the music were definitely top notch! But I felt like the story was heavily rushed. And Merida's younger brothers, basically the humanized-ginger versions of Huey, Duey, and Luey.. without voices. It may seem silly but I was really hoping to hear those 3 talk, but they didn't even have a SINGLE line in this film :V
And it just seemed kind of weird there was no "villain" in this movie either. Well.. unless you consider a witch who appeared only.. 5mins as a villain. I was expecting more from this film but.. meh.

I thought the big, evil bear was the villain.

True I guess, though it was just one of the brother's under the witch's curse? *shrug*

Chels, you and I have the exact same feelings towards this movie. I can now see why it was originally going to be called "The Bear and the Bow" after watching it. Other than that, it also felt like a rip off: it was basically "How to Train Your Dragon", "Tangled", "Brother Bear" and "Quest for Camelot" all rolled into one.

Ah really?? I didn't know it was going to be called that. I've heard many people comparing it to HTTYD but I've never seen that movie ^^'

AniMatt said in his review that you can go see it if you want to, but being that it's a Pixar film...lower your expectations a bit.

Yeah. I haven't seen the movie yet but I'll probably just wait.
Unlike Cars 2 it probably will be nominated for Best Animated Feature, but we'll see if it wins.
My local newspaper says it is beautiful to look at but plays it too safe. The critic only gave it two stars out of four.
Going on what Belchic said, these are AniMat's scores:
Story: 6/10 Animation: 10/10 Characters: 7/10
He thinks the story is decent, animation is flawless and the characters are good.
Movie Overall: 8/10
He says it's worth seeing, but don't expect it to completely rebound from Cars 2.
Something tells me I'm not going to like Monsters University. For one thing, Cars 2 was trying to spoof James Bond without sex humor (it's a little hard to do that) and Monsters University is going to be like a college frat movie and I imagine that since it's going to be a kids' film, that means no sex humor either. Well, movies like Animal House and Porky's didn't achieve their cult status by being squeaky clean.

Why are we talking about Monsters University and prequels?
Shouldn't we get back on topic and talk about the whole point behind this topic, Brave?
I mean, this would make sense if there was a thread about Monsters University, but can we please get back on topic?

Good point... but I just got curious where Monster University came from. About the movie, I haven't watch it but I'm not planning to... not that I'm criticizing it. I just don't have the time to do so.

I plan taking Kendra to see it, in August. ;3
It's not out yet where I am, but I promised that I'd take her to see it.
Would you say it's Good, Decent, Average or Bad?

Well Bab, for a Pixar film... I wouldn't hold your expectations too high for Brave.
In my opinion it has GREAT graphics and music, but the characterization is pretty.. flat. So I would say between average and bad.

I've heard a lot of the same things from people who have seen the film. I feel like the thing that draws me away the most is hearing about the absence of a major villain... I like villain characters, specifically the ones you can sympathise with. Also, lack of characterisation seems like a major turn off, obv's. Of course, I have no real reason to judge, seeing as I have not seen it yet myself (good music, for one, is something I look forward to... especially if it's Michael Giacchino! -goes to look it up right now-). It just seems curious that I tend to hear a lot of the same feedback from people. I presume I'll probably see if for myself at some point, probably when it comes out on DVD. Speaking of which, I still haven't seen Cars 2 yet... boy, for a Pixar fan, I sure haven't been showing the love lately!
