Okay, I think this company has crossed the line with what they've been doing just to make money!
First, they take down videos from YouTube that belong to them.
Then, they threaten YouTube users to pay millions of dollars or else they'd rape their homes.
But now, they've made their worst move ever! They've actually shut down a handful of TV stations while they're trying to settle a deal with DirectTV! As of yesterday, all of the Nickelodeon networks, VH-1, MTV, Comedy Central, and Spike TV are all gone! So, sorry all you fans of Spongebob, South Park and NASCAR, but you're never gonna watch those shows again.
I don't know how long this negotiation is going to go on, but hopefully not forever. I seriously hope the government shuts down Viacom for all this stuff that they're doing!

I don't think all those shows are gone permanently... o.O
They know perfectly well that they loose money if they stopped ALL their shows airing. How do you expect to get your product sold...if you don't release it?
Also, All those shows could go to another company. Like how I think, Futurama went to another company to get back on their air.
I really don't think you're right, when you say "We'll never see them again!" They'll be back on, You'll see.
Just give it a little thing called; Time...
Okay?

Well, not that I'm concerned about seeing those shows. I don't watch NASCAR, I hate Spongebob, and South Park isn't funny anymore. I'm just saying that it's ridiculous that Viacom shut down the stations altogether. Not that I'm worried about not seeing those particular shows again. Make sense now, bab?

My point was that you said that we'll NEVER see those shows again. Nowhere did you mention whether you liked the shows or not.
Trust me, Those shows will air again. That make sense?

VIACOM doesn't own NASCAR and none of its networks televise it (Fox, Turner and Disney/ESPN own those), what are you talking about? They have no connection, they haven't televised a NASCAR race since 2000 on any of their networks.
Those networks aren't off the air, just unavailable to Dish Network customers.

Sorry, DirecTV. Dish Network is unaffected. If you don't have satellite service through DirectTV you're service to these channels is unaffected. If you have cable (like I do with Charter Communications) you can still watch any of those channels.
The removal of web content is part of the ongoing issue, some have accused web content like that from drawing away from TV ratings. (Interestingly that why the Hub's original shows have done well on YouTube, they don't worry about ratings as much because most of their profit is from selling toys and so are more lax in that area).
This is just an issue over money, Viacom wanted an increase for the rights to air the channels and DirecTV said "No" because the ratings are down for several of them including Nickelodeon (It's lost 31 percent of its viewers over the last year!). Dish Network is having a similar dispute with TV channel AMC, a movie channel known for strong original programming.

I will let you know, Race that my service provider is DirectTV. When I made that post, all of those stations I listed were all gone from my list. So, sorry Race, but I am right this time. However, I was wrong in believing NASCAR aired on Spike, which apparently it doesn't. I sure am thankful Disney, the Hub, Food Network, Cartoon Network, History and GSN have nothing to do with this.

Don't they also own DreamWorks?

I guess you can go ahead and lock this topic. The stations all came back a long time ago. There's no use in discussing this anymore.
