This is a fan fic I decided to make, that describes what happened between the tragic incident with her parents and the hunters, and when she decides to live at Dearly Farm.
-
One early morning, just an hour after sunrise, Jocelyn and her parents were asleep in their family den. Jocelyn was sleeping right against her mother's side, comfy and safe.
Just then, the sound of a gunshot echoed through their part of the woods, and woke all three of them up.
"Mom, dad, what was that?" Jocelyn asked as she looked at her mother and father.
Another gunshot echoed. Jocelyn's father showed his teeth a bit in anger, looking towards the entrance of their den, and replied, "Hunters. Mankind's hunters."
A third gunshot was heard. Jocelyn's father could tell that the hunters were getting closer to the den. He then looked down to Jocelyn's mother and said, "Eleanor, take Jocelyn to a safe location. I'll run behind you."
Jocelyn's mother nodded, stood up, and picked up Jocelyn, in her mouth. Jocelyn's head and fore legs were hanging out one end, and her tail, rear, and hind legs, were hanging out of the other, but Eleanor had a firm grip. She then dashed for the outside of the den, and Jocelyn's father, John, trailed behind, closely. Jocelyn's parents then began taking her away from the den, but also in the opposite direction of where the hunters were.
When the family dashed out of the den, and through the woods, the hunters heard them running, due to hearing the crackling of leaves. They turned in the direction of Jocelyn's den, and could see two full-grown wolves, running away from the den. One of the hunters then brought up his rifle, with a scope, and stated, "Steady, aim, and" he pulled the trigger, and the bullet flew through the air, swiftly hitting Jocelyn's father in the side, thankfully not in the heart.
The force and pain of the bullet caused John to fall down on his side, to the ground, just barely alive. Jocelyn saw her father fall, from the corner of her eyes. "Dad!" she cried, at seeing her father fall, and start to bleed out.
"Don't worry about me! Go, Eleanor! Save Jocelyn!" John replied, in pain. Eleanor kept on running, away from the hunters, and John.
Some of the hunters then walked up to John, who was just barely alive, but bleeding. "Heh. You definitely got a big one this time, man." one of the hunters told the guy who shot John.
"Indeed, I did." he replied. "Best to put him out of his misery, though." He then brought out a sidearm, and shot John again, this time killing him.
Eleanor and Jocelyn could both tell that last gunshot meant that John was now dead. However, Eleanor kept on running, gripping Jocelyn in her mouth.
However, one of the hunters caught sight of Eleanor, stated, "Looks like we got one more left," and brought up his rifle, with a scope on. He then aimed it at Eleanor, waited three seconds, and pulled the trigger.
The bullet from this rifle soared through the air, and hit Eleanor in the side, but not in the heart either. The impact and pain of the bullet, caused Eleanor to fall down to her side, losing grip of Jocelyn. Jocelyn was able to get up on all fours in seconds, but Eleanor was unable to. "Mom!" Jocelyn exclaimed, starting to cry, as she walked up to her mother's side.
"It's all right, dear. Just get out of here! Run away my child. You must get away from the hunters." Eleanor responded. She then licked Jocelyn on the head. "I love you, dear." she whispered to Jocelyn.
"I-I love you too, mom." Jocelyn replied.
"Now go, Jocelyn. Run away! Be free and safe, my child!" Eleanor told Jocelyn.
Jocelyn nodded, and began running away from her mother, and away from the hunters. Just as she was getting out of sight, a few of the hunters showed up next to Eleanor. "Now, we got ourselves a female." one of them chuckled. The one who shot Eleanor then brought out his sidearm, and shot her, killing her and putting her out of her misery. When he did this, one of the others around her looked up, in the direction of Jocelyn, and said, "Huh? What the-?"
The one who shot Eleanor then eyed him and asked, "What is it?"
"I could've sworn I saw a third wolf over there. A small one. But I don't see it anymore." he replied.
"You must be seeing things." Eleanor's killer assumed. "Besides, two full-grown wolves is enough for us. heh" The other hunter nodded in agreement, and they began walking back to where they came from.
Jocelyn kept on running, until she was on the outskirts of the forest, in a field, but away from any humans, hunters, or predators. She stopped, sat down, and looked back in the direction of where she left her parents.
She then began to cry, tears coming from her eyes like rain, and tears falling off her cheeks almost as fast as a waterfall. "My mom, and dad. They're both...They're both...dead! " she creid, as she looked in the direction she was going in, and dropped her head.
She then started to wipe away her tears, and stated, "I must get away. I must be safe from the hunters. But, where should I go? I can't go back home." She then looked back again, then forward, and sighed, "I guess I'll just have to keep on moving ahead." She then stood up on all fours, and began walking away from the forest, unsure of where she was heading.
After about an hour of walking, Jocelyn stopped, and began to sniff the air. She caught whiff of a scent. "This scent, it feels familiar." she stated, as she smelled the surrounding area. After a couple of seconds, she was able to practically identify the source of the scent. "This scent, it belongs to that German Shepherd pup I met. Lupus, was his name." she said. "Maybe, if I follow the scent, it'll lead me to him." Jocelyn then began to follow the trail of the scent.
After about an hour and a half of following the trail, Jocelyn came across a farm. "The trail leads me here. I wonder if Lupus is here." Jocelyn thought. She then walked onto the property.
While she was entering the property, a young, male German Shepherd, by the name of Lupus, was walking about the farm, which was called Dearly Farm, performing his daily exercise routine. As he was walking, he caught sight of a young wolf pup. "I wonder what that fellow wolf is doing here." Lupus thought as he began to walk up to the wolf, who he didn't know was Jocelyn.
Jocelyn caught sight of the German Shepherd walking up to her. "Hello, dear wolf." Lupus greeted her.
"Hello, German Shepherd." Jocelyn replied. "Is there someone here by the name o-" she stopped as she began to sniff around her and the German Shepherd, for the scent was stronger now. She then began sniffing the Lupus's fur on his back. She then sat in front of him, and asked, "Lupus? Is it you?"
"I beg your pardon?" Lupus asked, unsure of who this wolf was exactly.
"Don't you remember me, Lupus?" Jocelyn asked. "It's me, Jocelyn. We spent some time together in the woods, playing and chatting, and I invited you into my family's den for a night. Remember?"
Lupus then began to browse his memories. He remembered running away from home, and meeting Shadow, Clayton, Olwe, and some of the others. After a couple of seconds, he remembered spending time with a young, female wolf pup in the woods, and sleeping in her family's den for a night. He then looked at the female wolf pup in front of him and questioned, "Jocelyn?"
Jocelyn looked at Lupus and smiled. "You do remember! ;D" she stated, filled with joy.
"Long time, no see, old friend." Lupus stated, smiling as well. He then hugged Jocelyn, who hugged him back.
After the hug, Lupus asked, "Although, what are you doing here, away from your family and den?"
Jocelyn then dropped her head a bit and began to cry somewhat.
"Oh, what's wrong? Was it something I said? If so, I'm sorry." Lupus apologized.
"No, it's okay, Lupus." Jocelyn replied. "You should probably know the reason." She then wiped away the tears, looked up at Lupus, and explained to Lupus the events of the day, up to where she came to the farm.
"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, Jocelyn. " Lupus said, once Jocelyn finished explaining what happened. He then wrapped an arm around her shoulder, trying to comfort her. "And yet, you're so young in your life."
"Thanks for the sympathy, Lupus. But, I'm not sure where to go now. I don't have a family or a den, anymore." she responded.
"No, but you do have someone who cares for you, a friend." Lupus reassured her, as he hugged Jocelyn. "And here on the farm, you'll be able to make many more friends. And the Dearlys, the owners, treat the animals here so nicely."
"I..I don't know, Lupus." Jocelyn replied.
"Come, let's walk about the farm." Lupus insisted, as he lead Jocelyn around Dearly Farm. He led her to the Chow Tower, where the pups eat. As well as to the barn, where the pups sleep. Once the tour was over, Lupus looked at Jocelyn, and suggested, "Oh, and one more thing, don't go near that wagon in the daylight. Unless you want to be taunted and insulted."
"Why?" Jocelyn asked.
"Because that's where Mooch, the bully of the farm, resides." Lupus explained. "And he can do more than just insult someone."
Jocelyn knew what he meant, and nodded.
"So, do you feel like living here on the farm, Jocelyn?" Lupus questioned.
"It all seems very nice, Lupus. But, I'm a bit unsure still." Jocelyn replied.
"Just so you know, there are at least 101 Dalmatians that live here, on the farm. And, a young female fox, that I haven't met yet, named Roxy, who lives here. She is pretty nice, as I've heard."
Jocelyn then went a bit wide-eyed at hearing this. "The Dearlys take care of 101 Dalmatians, AND a fox?!"
Lupus smiled and nodded, "Yes, Jocelyn. They take care of least 101 Dalmatians on this farm, plus me, the cattle, pigs, chickens, and Roxy. And they don't even seem to stress about all these animals."
Jocelyn then smiled and stated, "Okay, Lupus. I'll live here on the farm, with you and the others." She then hugged Lupus, and said, "Thank you, Lupus." Her tail was slightly wagging a bit, and tears of joy fell from her eyes. "This will be my new home, and den."
Lupus then replied, "You're welcome, Jocelyn. But, don't forget, though we might be able to take care of you like a family, your real family, will always be in here." Lupus then brought a paw to Jocelyn's chest, where her heart was.
Jocelyn nodded, for she knew what he meant. "Yes, though dead, my mother and father will always be in my heart."
"Now come along, and we can play some more like we used to " Lupus insisted, as he pounced a short distance away from her in a playful manner.
"Heehee Okay, Lupus. " Jocelyn giggled, as she followed Lupus and the two began to play like they did before. Though her parents had died earlier that day, which brought her sadness, Jocelyn was now happy to have a new family, den, and reunite with her old friend. However, she would never forget her family, for she would always know that they were in her heart.
