Occasionally, in the past few months, since I've made the several bios of OCs I have, I've kinda been thinking about giving one of them, (one of my good, main OCs), sort of an animal assistant or companion. I wouldn't exactly know what to give Lupus, but Vladimir, on the other hand, is easy. He's interested in dark or Gothic fiction, which includes Edgar Allan Poe's work, such as, (in case you guessed it), "The Raven".

Name: Poe
Species: Northern Raven (Corvus corax)
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Friends: Vlad atm
Alignment: Good
Past/History: Not much is known of Poe's past. In fact, that wasn't the name he was given at birth, but he doesn't speak, or was owned, so no one but him, knows his true name.
Anyway, one night, during a slightly turbulent and strong rain shower, this male raven was flying around, looking for a nice place to rest for the night, away from the rain. Apparently, he ended up perching inside the barn, but just inside the entrance, above it.
When Poe flew in and perched there, Vladimir was, coincidentally reading "The Raven", to himself. He heard the sound of feathers fluttering, as Poe flew in and perched above the barn door. He found some interest in this event, and decided to quote the following line from the poem:
"Thou thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou art sure no craven. Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the Nightly shore-
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!"
However, Poe didn't say a thing, as opposed to what Vlad might have expected the raven to say, "Nevermore".
Despite the fact that Poe did not say "Nevermore", or anything at all, Vladimir still bore interest in this raven. So, he set down the book, and calmly approached the ground below and in front of the raven, assuring Poe that he wud not harm Poe, nor try anything of the sort to scare him.
Poe was a bit puzzled at Vlad's actions, and the dialogue. Although, since he was seeking shelter for the night, he chose to stay where he was, above the barn's entrance door, inside the barn.
When Vlad was below the raven, but within its sight, and close, he asked if Poe wud mind flying down upon his shoulder, so that perhaps, he could be in a more efficient location of the barn, to protect him from the rain, but also, so he could merely examine the raven a bit more, as he was interested in Poe.
Poe thought it over for a few seconds, but then nodded at Vlad, and flew down, onto Vlad's back, without trying to dig his talons too deep into his fur.
Vlad then asked, if, perhaps the raven would like to live at the farm, not as a pet, but as a citizen, in a way. There'd be plenty of shelter, food, and water. And, of course, in case of injury or illness, someone to take care of him.
Poe considered all of these factors, then nodded a tad enthusiastically.
Vlad then thought for a few seconds, as he walked back to his book, and then considered naming the raven Poe, since he was reading the writer's famous poem known as "The Raven". Poe chuckled a bit at this, and nodded.
Personality: Unlike the Raven in Edgar A. Poe's "The Raven", Poe can't talk one bit, for he was not owned by a human before he met Vlad. He is a tad cautious, least around male dogs that might seem a bit suspicious or intimidating. During the day, when he wants to travel around the barn from a low altitude, (practically the ground), Poe will prefer to perch upon the shoulder, back, or head, of at least Vladimir, if the Dal isn't too busy.
