You know my opinion. They look the same in quality to me. I think you should just do whatever you feel like doing. It is your art. You are the one that has to do it.
I second this. I'm no expert in art, so usually I just do what looks good to me. If you're finding the new line style difficult to get into, you can switch off between your two different styles and perhaps eventually, you'll come to a census over which one you personally prefer.
I actually switched over to using coloured lines about half a year ago, but I still sometimes draw lines in black too. If you want my opinion, I personally feel like the black lines make the subject a bit "bolder", whereas the coloured lines are better if you're trying to go for a smoother look.
If your coloured lines are hard to see, it could be because your lines aren't dark enough, thus making the subjects in your picture look a tad bland. In your cookie picture, for example, you could try using a darker grey to outline the white, which will make the characters a little bolder and "come out" more like your black-lined pics, without being overly bold - if that makes sense? Foody in particular has some pretty light lines outlining him and could probably use a darker shade of grey to bring out the lineart more.
Note; I'm not an art expert or anything, this is just something I kind of noticed with my own art as well when I made the same transition.
Here's a good picture for a comparison, to explain what I'm talking about;

Both of the above pictures use coloured lines, but in the first picture, it has a bit more of a bland look to it because the lines are a tad too light (compare especially the "yellow" hair and mane on the growlithe, and the eyes). The lines in the second, however, are darker and tend to bring out the subjects more. Just play around with darks and lights a little until it looks good, I suppose; haha. And overall, try to be as consistent as possible! It sort of looks like some pups have thicker or darker lines than others, like Shadow compared to Foody, so I'd just try to be cautious about that in general and try to keep the lines looking relatively the same throughout; using the same line colours and making sure lines aren't thicker in some places than others.
Anyway, what you do is entirely up to you. I personally prefer the coloured-line style in my own drawings because it's easier to blend colours and do airbrushing, but when I'm just using flat colours and shading, black lines usually suffice. So honestly, either works; just find whichever method works best for you.
Hmm, I think I understand what you mean. I do admit, Foody does look a bit bright there. ^^;
Although, I think the colouring shows itself better on the right side, with Clayton, Kit & Bishop.
The Cookie Picture is my first attempt at trying it so, most likely, I got some practice to do.
I may do a Trial Period for Pictures in this style and see if it gets any better or more showing as I upload them.
I actually admit, I like how some Dals look in the Cookie picture and that may be with the greyness of the lines.
Is an extended Trial session okay?
