Ah.. yes.. where do I start. I don't feel very welcome here.... and I feel that other new members might feel the same as well. It's not necessarily that you all are bad people, there are several friendly sorts on here that I don't mind talking to.
But when it comes to this "board canon" you all share... that's where things get personal it seems like. I've noticed that those people, like myself, who choose to post their own ideas which are not related to the general Sparky's canon, tend to be ignored in favor of the general groupthink. And .. frankly it doesn't come off as super friendly or appealing to newer members I wouldn't think. I get the impression that if you don't follow the Sparky's canon, then you might as well leave.
And it isn't fair, there ARE dal lovers out there who would love to share and receive feedback on their ideas, but not if they're going to be shot down rudely or ignored. ^^; I've personally experienced this.. and I'm not angry, just .. well, somewhat frustrated and hurt.
The board canon.. while it can be interesting, it also feels all inclusive, almost like an exclusive club that's been in existence for years, and only certain members are in on the jokes.. ^^; I feel like I'm expected to understand and again, if I don't, I feel well, ignored.
Another issue I've noticed on this site, is pairings... why do we get so upset over pairings? What does it matter if one person chooses to pair Lucky with another dal than Two-Tone, or if another ships Tripod with Cadpig? This issue is everywhere, not just Sparky's, but I feel it deserves a mention here too. ^^; Again, ships that do not cohease with the general "board canon" tend to be ignored, or shot down... and frankly I think, it should stop..
I know you pups out there don't want to come off as rude, or unfriendly, and I think you should keep this in mind, for in the future; try to be more open minded, and accepting, or you might be scaring off new people who would otherwise love to be a part of this community.
