Alright, I'm sure just about everyone here knows about the book, but did you know that there was also a film adaptation of it? Well, there is one. It is a live-action/animated hybrid film directed by Chuck Jones. It was released around 1970. It's a pretty good film and has a pretty good cast.
The only problem with it is it's not on DVD. Why it isn't, I have no idea.
I have heard that there were plans for another film adaptation of this movie, it was announced in 2010, but it's been in development hell. I hope it does get made, because I'd like to see it.

I remember seeing the 1970 film adaptation of The Phantom Tollbooth when it aired on Cartoon Network many years ago. It was on a former block called Mr. Spim's Cartoon Theatre. That was the only time I've ever seen that movie.

Well, if you want to watch it again, I think it's on YouTube. I know I found it back in 2008, but I'm not sure if it's still up.
One thing I'd like to bring up about this movie, I remember the scene where Milo tries to conduct the sunrise, but he winds up making the sky go crazy. I think the Nostalgia Critic should have put that in his Top 11 Nostalgic Mindf*cks.
Yeah, I also remember Mr. Spim's Cartoon Theatre; that played some very unique classic animated non-Disney films like "Gulliver's Travels", "Gay Purr-ee", and Charlotte's Web".

Caught a good chunk of this on TCM once. The story...seems a more than a little weird at times but the Chuck Jones animation is wonderful. It's also great to see Butch Patrick in something other than the Munsters too, type casting could really bit hard in that era. Chuck Jones version of Tock differs from the book but a talking dog is always a plus for an animated film. Here's a piece of the film, the movie is famous for its word play... www.youtube.com/watch?v=m76PFLg5jpc

@race: I agree with you about Tock. In this future remake, I hope they don't make Tock so much like he is in the book. I'm hoping they'll have him voiced by a likable comedian like Steve Carrell.

I just found out recently that this movie actually is on DVD! It was just released about 3 years go. How I missed that, I have no clue, but I'm still waiting to hear more word on the remake.
