So far, I have twice received a warning from a DA member that there is a hacker going around on DeviantArt! Just this morning, @shawn217 sent me a warning about this. I don't know if this is true or not, but according to what I've heard, if she hacks you, she will post a journal in your profile that says "I HATE YOU ALL!" and she'll block all of your watchers! I don't know what grudge this person has against all these Deviants, but for whatever reason, she is trying to get them banned! Nemo, you thought those art theifs were bad? Now, there's a hacker!

Considering how many members there are on DA, it be hard to hack them all.
Also, pretty sad if this person has nothing better to do in their life than to do that. If it's a problem, surely DA will be able to track the IP Address, correct?

Honestly since I been on dA 6+ years there's always 'HACKER OH NOES!!!' goin around, it honestly doesn't phase me anymore XDDD
But if you know the hacker's username just put it in your block list and you'll be safe.

Well, they do have some things to do better in their life, like GO OUT INTO THE SUN AND SOCIALIZE for once!

You do make valid points, but hackers, stalkers and trolls are dangerous!

To be honest, I posted that on my journal so you guys don't think I would say those bad things about you guys, tell you guys off, etc. When in reality I'm not like that, I mean what Belchic said about Hackers are true, but I did want to warn you guys before hand that if you guys got a threatening message from someone on Facebook, DA, Skype, YIM, Gmail, YouTube using my account then it's not me.
I wouldn't and I repeat WOULDN'T say anything bad about you guys or insult you in anyway.

I know what it's like to be hacked. I've had my email hacked once before. I've also had my Photobucket and my Retrojunk account hacked, and even my account here on this board was hacked several times.

Seriously? How were you sure those were hacked?
Like, did the Retrojunk ones posts mocking posts with your account or delete reviews or something?
DA has recently started asking to varify emails. Think that has something to do with this supposed hacker?

Really, I think I've seen this "hacker alert" But it seems very suspfishy because it tells you that if you repost it in a journal that you will be safe... Chain letters anyone? I think this is just a modernization of those silly "This dead girl will kill you if you don't re post this 10 times." thing that used to be popular.

That is a point, I also don't see how saying; "Oh, There's a Hacker" will then have that Hacker go; "Oh, They posted a journal, that's created a barrier preventing hacks."
Also, if it was that urgent, wouldn't DA send the message themselves?

Also, if it was that urgent, wouldn't DA send the message themselves? Well they used the rather lame excuse "She will know you know what is going on and will leave you alone." But even if they didn't do that, this is still no different from the old chain letters. It's just made a little more believable because it's a more realistic threat. But is there really much difference between "Hacker! Spread the word!" and "Dead girl gonna kill you if you don't spread the word." ? Same old BS new skin. I would actually prefer those "Dead girl gonna kill you." things because at least THEY were entertaining.

Chain letters, eh? Yeah, I'm familiar with those. babclayman: I don't wish to go into details. It's really complicated.
