This is a fic about my RP character, Volkner, and his search for his lost sister, Amaranth. The first chapter is kinda cheesy, i know, but don't let that stop you from reading the rest. The Search For Amaranth Chapter 1 A Sunday morning in London, a lone adolescent Dalmatian laid on top of a closed dumpster. The sun shined in his face and woke him up. He had crystal blue eyes , his feet had black “socks” on them, the tope of which at his ankles resembled flames. His ears are full black, and the rest of his coat was sparsely spotted. He jumped off the dumpster, and began walking down the street. He was a stray, so he had no collar, but he had a piece of string around his neck with a gothic style cross charm hanging on it. “Every day is the same thing… I wake up, try to find my sister with no avail, then I sleep again… I must’ve gone through at least four cities in the last week…” He thought to himself. He didn’t even know she could possibly be. The only lead he had was that she went missing a few months back. It had been quite a while, but he refused to give up. While passing through a back alley shortcut, a rottweiler pup a little younger than he jumped down from a wooden box. “What did I tell you? This is MY turf, and you aren’t going through!” Said the rottweiler. “Of course not…” said the dalmatian , as he kept approaching the other dog. With a growl, the rottweiler pounced, only to be quickly dodged by the dalmation, who then took off running. The rottweiler followed in pursuit and was quickly gaining up on him. The Dalmatian saw three tin trash cans on the side of the street, and knocked them over as he ran by. The three trash cans rolled towards the wimpering rottweiler. He jumped the first, but the second knocked him down, and the third roled right into his muzzle. “I’LL GET YOU, VOLKNER, I SWEAR IT!” yelled the rottweiler. “In you’re dreams, ya mutt!” Laughed Volkner. A few hours later, Volkner eneded up on a country road. He was tired and out of breath, so he stopped to rest outside of a farm. “Hey, kid… the one who is precious to you….the one you search for… I can help you…” Said a deep voice calling from somewhere. Volkner looked around but saw no one. “You cannot see me, but I can see you… I am a part of you’re past, and I dwell within you always…” Said the voice. As the voice spoke, the charm on Volkner’s neck glew a soft bright blue. “Fear me not… follow where I lead you, and you will find you’re sister…. Amaranth…” *I did not write the following song(Amaranth, by Nightwish) Baptised with a perfect name The doubting one by heart Alone without himself War between him and the day Need someone to blame In the end, little he can do alone You believe but what you see You receive but what you give Caress the one, the Never-Fading Rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow Caress the one, the hiding amaranth In a land of the daybreak Apart from the wandering pack In this brief flight of time we reach For the ones, whoever dare You believe but what you see You receive but what you give Caress the one, the Never-Fading Rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow Caress the one, the hiding amaranth In a land of the daybreak (2X) Reaching, searching for something untouched Hearing voices of the Never-Fading calling Caress the one, the Never-Fading Rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow Caress the one, the hiding amaranth In a land of the daybreak (2X) (to hear the theme song to my fic, Amaranth, by Nighwish, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=GArWhojjIxQ )

Chapter 2
“How do I know I can trust you?” Asked Volkner.
“Well now… You don’t have much of a choice, do you?” Said the voice.
“What’s you’re name?” Volkner asked, still a bit confused.
“Sigurd….” The voice said as the charm stopped glowing.
“Huh? Hey! Come back! Where do I go!... CRAP!” Yelled Volkner in frustration.
Volkner continued walking down the country road, and eventually he came to a dead end. There was a dense forest at the dead end. It looked deceivingly sparse since it was winter, and no leaves were on the trees.
Volkner entered the forest, and keep in a straight line for a while, trying not to get lost. After about an hour, he became lost. Not knowing where he was in the forest, with way was north or south, or even the direction he came from. The dense rotting foliage beneath his feet was wet from rains, and his paws we’re covered in dirt.
“Well, sigurd! Where are ya now!!!” He said with a small growl.
A small pack of three wolves closed in on Volkner slowly from behind.
“Well, well… what have we here?” Said a male gray wolf, with a sinister laugh.
“Mmm… Fresh meat!” Laughed another male gray wolf on his left.
“Please can we eat him? Huh? Pleeaase?” begged a female gray wolf on his right.
“I say we have a little fun with him first…” Said the wolf in the middle.
“Are you lost?” Asked the wolf.
“Uhh… yeah…” Resplied Volkner nervously.
“Aww… poor thing!” Said the female wolf running a sharp nail up his neck and chin.
“It’s ok… You won’t be lost much longer!” Said the other male wolf.
“Uhh… I… umm… I’ll be fine on my own… uhh…” Said Volkner backing up slowly.
The pack leader began to growl viciously.
“WHAT’S YOU’RE PROBLEM?! RUN, BOY!” said Sigurd.
Volkner began running as fast as his tired legs could take him. Dodging around trees, and avoiding the three wolves following behind.
“Why did that thing around his neck just glow?... there’s something special about this one…” Thought the pack leader to himself.
Volkner was looking over his shoulder at the wolves gaining on him. Before he could turn to see where he was going he ran into a Black furred wolf’s chest, and fell over.
The black wolf looked down at him. His red eye’s captivated Volkner, and the scar across the right one didn’t help.
“I’m sorry I…” Said Volkner, before he was interrupted.
“Stay here…” Said the black wolf walking out in front of Volkner.
The three gray wolves say the black wolf, and slid to a halt.
“What did I tell you three? EVERYTHING isn’t food!” Said the black wolf.
“Sorry, Dirge…” Said the gray wolves leader.
“Uhh… I’m confused…” said Volkner.
“These three here just love to hunt and kill everything… they know I’m stronger than their entire pack, so It’s up to me to keep them in line… Vincent, you and you’re pack should be ashamed!... now get out of my site!” Said Dirge.
Volkner let out a sigh of relief. “Thanks…” He said panting and out of breath.
“It was nothing… if yuou’re lost… just follow me, hmm?” Said Dirge as he started walking. Volkner stood up and followed behind him.
“What’s you’re name, pup?” Asked Dirge.
“Volkner… you’re name is Dirge, right?” Volkner replied.
“Yes… What’s a pup you’re age doing traveling alone?” Asked Dirge.
“….because…I have no one…. Except my sister, and shes missing… I’m trying to find her…” Said Volkner in a depressed tone of voice.
“I’ve been alone my whole life…. Not even a sister…. Once you find her, always take care of her… you’ll never know how precious she is until she’s gone…” Said Dirge, as they came to the exit of the opposite side of the woods Volkner entered.
“Good luck… I’m afraid I must leave you now…” Said Dirge, walking away.
“Thank you…” Replied Volkner.

Ya know guys, I'm not gonna complain if you leave a compliment or two...
Chapter 3
Dirge was the first person to help Volkner do anything in a long time. His mother died of illness when he was a puppy, and his father just walked out on them for all he knew. He had never met them. Four of his brothers and sisters died along with his mother, leaving only Amaranth, and himself.
“So… where to next?” Volkner pondered to himself. He examined his surroundings. Behind him was the forest he had just came out of, and there was no need for him to go back there. To his right, he could see and open field, and to his left what appeared to be a small town. Naturally, he decided to investigate the town.
The town was very clean, although not very large. The traffic was very low as well.
“So, Sigurd, what now?” asked Volkner.
“Just keep walking and follow your own instincts for now…” Sigurd replied.
“Earlier you said you were part of my past… what does that mean?” Asked Volkner quite curiously.
“…Perhaps it’s best you not know at this particular time.” Sigurd replied with a small sigh.
Volkner kept in a straight line, and on the other side of town, a miniature Scottish terrier was sleeping.
As Volkner walked by, he woke up. “Hey! Hold it right there!” Said the Scotty in a rough voice.
“I don’t have time for you, old man…” Said Volkner as he continued to walk. The Scotty ran in front opf him, blocking his path.
“It’s too dangerous out there, boy! A pup you’re age wouldn’t last ten seconds! Why, you’d be harasses by wolves, and bears, and foxes, and everything else out there!” Said the Scotty.
“….I’m going to find my sister… even if I have to die trying…” Replied Volkner.
“Ah, but if you die, you’ll never find her, now will you, my boy?” said the Scotty.
“I guess you’re right…” Volkner said, hating to admit that the old dog was right.
“I’ll tell you what… you seem to have a just cause… I have three brothers. Each one lives in a different part f this town, and in order to avoid the dog catcher, we must live where it is hard to find us. If you can fins all of my brothers without attracting attention, I’ll let you through.” Said the Scotty.
“And exactly what’s the point of this?” Asked Volkner.
“To traverse the entire town ins earch of something, and not catch any attention… well, it would prove that you are sly… you’ll need you’re wits about you out there. Now, I’m not calling you stupid, oh Heavens no, but I need you prove that you can make it… the next town is quite a distance. The Scotty replied.
“Ok then… I accept…..” Replied Volkner, “Stupid old mutt…” he mumbled as he walked off.

Chapter 4
Volkner looked for well over an hour, but he couldn’t find the dog’s brothers. He returned to where he met the Scotty in the first place.
“Hey, old timer, I haven’t seen a single dog other than you here…” Said Volkner.
“Do you give up then?” Asked the Scotty, “ And don’t call me old timer! My name is Douglas!”
“… you realize I could break you’re legs and just walk through here, right?”
“You still didn’t answer me… do you give up?”
“GRRR!”
“Stop growling, and answer me, boy!”
“No, I don’t!”
“Then you can go through…”
“What?”
“I don’t have any brothers.”
“Then why make me go through all that?”
“I just wanted to have a little fun ya!”
“WHAT?!”
“Oh, come now!”
“SO WHAT IF I HAD GIVEN UP?!”
“I would’ve blocked you’re path and made you try again another time!”
“…but…WHY?!”
“….well, why not?”
Volkner walked our of the town and was soon in a slightly forested area.
“That old hound was crazy… making me waste an hour looking for his brothers that don’t exist… and then he let me through anyway!....oi vey, some people…” Volkner thought to himself.
Volkner stopped next to a large pond. It was late, and he needed rest, so he laid down and tried to get some sleep.
The next morning, he woke up and continued through the wooded area. He felt like he was being watched. He began to walk slowly and cautiously.
A small, brown shaggy haired puppy, about half his age jumped out in front of him.
“BOO!” Exclaimed the puppy.
“AAHHH! HEY, KID, DON’T DO THAT CRAP!” Volkner yelled.
“Haha! Why? It’s fun!” The pup laughed.
“It’s gonna be fun when you do that to someone meaner than me, and take a bite out of you’re tiny little head!” Replied Volkner.
Volkner began walking again,a nd noticed the pup was following him.
“Hey, kid, go back home!”
“Aint got no home.”
“… Well, neither do I… but I don’t go around annoying the living piss out of everyone because of it. I’m doing something very important, so please, just leave me alone.”
“….looks more like yer just walkin’ to me…”
Volkner put a paw on his forehead.
“Oi… alright, fine… you can come…” Said Volkner.
“Whats yer name?” asked the pup.
“Volkner… what is you’re name?”
“I aint got no name.”
“Ok, fine… I’ll just call you…uhhh… Fudge…”

Yeah, this is actually a new style for me. Most of my fics have been about stuff like Starfox or Final Fantasy type stuff, so i'm still getting used to this sort of fic. Here's my favorite chapter so far. and it's about time someone left me a compliment... heck, at this point, I would'nt have complained if it was a complaint! lol
Chapter 5
After a while, it began to snow very hard. In a matter of minutes, the ground was covered.
“We’ve got to get out of this weather…” said Volker. He could hardly see ahead of himself because the flurries of snow where too thick.
“I think there’s something on top of that hill!” Said Fudge, just as they came to the edge of the woods. There was a steep hill that lead to a large cliff overlooking London. On that hill was a lrge, abandoned church.
They had to struggle uphill, and through the snow, but they finally made it to the top. “Aw man! I just went in a complete circle!” Volkner exclaimed angrily looking down from the hill at London, the city in which he had left only a day before.
“Well, at least we can shield ourselves from the weather in here.” said Volkner. The large door was already slightly open, and he pushed it open further with his muzzle.
He and Fudge entered the old church. The floorboards creaked, and some of the pews were dry rotted, and broken. Volkner and Fudge walked down the center isle examining the old church, whe Fudge heard something.
A black canine of an unknown breed, probably mixed, jumped from under the pew in front of Fudge and began growling and showing it’s teeth.
Volkner ran and jumped in front of Fudge.
“Who are you and why are you in my home?” Spoke the dog.
“We came here to shield ourselves from the weather…We had no idea this place was inhabited.” Replied Volkner.
“oh… I’m sorry I acted that way… I don’t get many visitors up here.” The dog replied, “What’s you’re name?”
“Volkner…”
“I’m Shadow.”
“That’s an odd name…”
“Look who’s talking… and what about the pup?”
“My name is Fudge.”
“Oh Heaven forbid!” exclaimed Shadow.
“Are our names really that important when it comes right down to it? At the moment, we’re just focused on staying alive just a little bit longer, so I can find my sister.” Said Volkner.
“So, you’re looking for you’re sister then, are you? I’m afraid I know nothing. I haven’t seen anyone besides you two in over a year.” Shadow said.
In the midst of Volkner and Shadow talking, Fudge had fallen asleep.
“Poor little guy…” said Shadow.
“Shadow, I hate to ask you this, but, Fusdge doesn’t have a home… and traveling with me could prove dangerous, especially for a puppy that little… can he stay here with you?” Asked Volkner.
“Well, I suppose…” Shadow responded.
“I’ll get up early and leave without him… He’d never stay on his own free will…. Tell him goodbye for me.” Said Volkner as he laid down on the floor and curled up.
“I’d expect this snow storm to end by morning… you should’nt have any trouble leaving.” said Shadow as he too laid down to rest.
The next morning, when the sun hadn’t even risen, Volkner woke up. He stood to his feet and stretched.
“That’s the best sleep I’ve had in a long time…” Volkner said.
Volkner walked over to Fudge, who was still sleeping, and put a paw on his shoulder.
“You take care, kid….please, don’t hold this against me…” Said Volkner before he left.
Just as he got out of the church, Sigurd spoke to him.
“That was a good thing you did, Volkner.” said Sigurd. “If you head through that path behind the church, you may find something of interest…”
“Hey, if you wanted me to go on that path, why didn’t you just lead me here from London, where I started?” Volkner inquired.
“You can’t even see this place from in the city, and the terrain is too tough to get here that way now… this church hasn’t been used in years.” Sigurd replied.
Volkner followed the path, and after about a mile came upon a small pond. He sat down next to it to rest for a moment.
“Sigurd… I want to know who you are… If you don’t tell me, I don’t know how much longer I can trust you.” Said Volkner.
“Fine…I am…your… father….” Sigurd replied.
“Whar? SO ALL THIS TIME I’VE BEEN LISTENIGNT O THE JERK THAT WALKED OUT ON ME, MOTHER, AND EVEN WORSE MY SIBLINGS?!” exclaimed Volkner Angrily.
“Son, you must understand… all is not as it seems…that charm around you’re neck… I gave it to you before I left. It’s not like I never thought about you…” Replied Sigurd.
“So where are you now?” Asked Volkner.
“….dead….” replied Sigurd shamefully.
“Yeah, well, I don’t need the help of the lowlife scum that walked out on me…” Volkner said as he cut the string around his neck with his claw. He picked up the charm in his mouth and tossed it into the pond.”

Glad you like it.
Chapter 6
“You fool! Do you know what you’ve just done?!” said an unfamiliar voice.
A Dalmatian a little younger than Volkner with a similar cross charm around his neck came out of some bushes. The main difference between their crosses, is that Volkner’s was pointed at the bottom, while the other dal’s was flat on all sides. He had a “patch” on his right eye, black ears, and a large black patch on his back.
“Who are you?” Asked Volkner showing his teeth.
“My name is Jay, and i’m you’re half brother… Father trusted me too well, and told me his plans…” said the Dalmatian.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You’re my half brother?”
“Yes… Sigurd is both our Father, but our Mother’s are different… after he left you’re mother he met mine…”
“Ok… so what about these plans of his?” Asked Volkner.
“Well, as you know, he spoke to you through the charm. He is basically stuck between life and death. These charms have magical properties about them. If either one is destroyed, he will come back, and as you know, he isn’t the nicest fellow around, thought he may have put on that act to gain you’re trust, he is actually worse than you imagined. Your brothers and sisters did not die of illness like your Mother… he killed them…” explained Jay.
“So why did he leave me and Amaranth?” Asked Volkner.
“Well, you see, My siblings dies shortly after birth… I miraculously lived. My Mother found out too much, and he killed her. He knew he would be persecuted for his actions before he even met her… and so he left you and gave you one charm… and he left me the other. These two charms can either bring him back, which would be a bad thing, or banish him into the afterlife where he can burn in Hell where he belongs… Guess which one we’re gonna do?” Said Jay.
“That still doesn’t answer why he left Amaranth alive.”
“Well, actually, he tried, but even though he thought she was dead, she was only unconscious.”
“Ok, so how do we go about doing this?”
“Well, for starters, you need to reclaim that charm before a fish swallows it and his inside acids consume it… that would bring Father back…”
Volkner approached the water, and touched it with one paw. He jerked back and shivered.
“What’s the matter? Too cold?” Jay asked.
“I’m not even fond of water when it’s warm…” Volkner replied.
Volkner dived underwater and began searching. He could see something gleaming at the bottom, and swam down to get it. He grasped it in his teeth and came back to the surface. When he climbed out of the water, he shook furiously and water went everywhere.
”You didn’t have to get me wet too, ya know…” said Jay, as a few drops of water dripped from his coat.
Volkner picked up the piece of string on the ground that he had cut and tied it back around his neck with the charm on it.
“Ok, so how do we do this?” Volkner asked.
“Just follow me…” said Jay as he walked along a dirt path with many briars and throns around and on it.

Chapter 7
“So, why did my father do all those things?” asked Volkner.
“………He’s just cruel and heartless……” Jay replied.
On the other end of the path, there was an old, rusty, abandoned shack.
“…………………in here…………..” Jay said pushing a rusted, squeaky door open.
Inside, there were very sparse furnishings, such as a wooden box, and a candle, as well as a few boxes of matches. A mutt was perched on top of the box. He was a mix of most any breed imaginable, and he had one green eye, and one blue. His coat was long and shaggy, and had a blackish grey tint to it.
“The mighty Jay returns… with no food… again….” Said the mutt.
“…..” Jay remained silent.
“I know you don’t like humans, but the puppy eyes never fail, ya know?” the mutt added.
“I’d like you to meet Volkner… My half brother…” Jay said as Volkner walked in.
“Ah, the owner of the second cross, right?” The mutt asked.
“…umm….you could just look for yourself…, Astrid” Jay said.
“Yes, well, I’m sorry to have to report this to you, Volkner, but my father was an evil man, and a close friend of your father. I come from a lineage of mages. My father was the one who created those two crosses… So that one day his friend might return.” Astrid explained.
“Ok, so how do we prevent that?” asked Volkner.
“Simple… I must recite a reverse spell and cast it upon them both at the same time, which is why we needed you here.” Said Astrid.
“I’m sorry, brother… I’m the one that took Amaranth… I was trying to find you, to no avail, when I ran into your sister and asked if she had seen you… she didn’t trust me, and she said she would never tell where you were… I knew you’d go looking for her, and so I kidnapped her… but she’s safe.” Jay said.
“You did WHAT?!” Volkner exclaimed as he tackled Jay.
“HEY! This is no time for fighting! She’s right here!” said Astrid pushing open a side door that led to a small room. A short female Dalmatian. Walked slowly out of the room. She had a large quantity of spots on her back and tail, but she was white everywhere else except her right foreleg and her left ear, which were also spotted.
“Volkner!” she exclaimed running to her brother, and giving him a loving nuzzle.
“I’m glad you’re ok sis…” Volkner said.
Astrid was flipping page after page in old dusty textbooks.
“Aha! I believe I’ve found it! Jay! Volkner! Come here a moment, would you?” Astrid called.
Astrid began chanting in an unknown language and after repeating himself a few times, the crosses began glowing that pale blue again. After a moment, both stopped glowing.
“Did it work?” asked Jay.
A tall Dalmatian with blue eyes and many large splotches of black rammed through the door of the shack.
“I’m ba-ck!” The dog sang with a manic laugh.
“What?! Who are you?!” exclaimed Astrid.
“I’m Sigurd… your father reversed the spells in that book, just incase his son would be so stupid as to give in to good… looks like it was a good plan, too.” Sigurd said.
“Quick! We must move quickly!” Astrid said breaking down a part of the wall and running out. Volkner and Jay followed close behind. Amaranth was too slow and Sigurd caught her by the nap of her neck.
“Aren’t you forgetting something?!” Sigurd yelled.
“VOLKNER! HELP!” exclaimed Amaranth.
Sigurd ran off in the opposite direction, stopping at the pond between the shack and the church.
“Hahaha! I’ll use you to attract those idiot sons of mine…first I’ll kill them.. then I’ll kill that mangy mongrel… and then I’ll kill you!” Said Sigurd with a manic laugh.

Chapter 8
“Guys, I have to go back!” Volkner said.
“NO! You mustn’t! Don’t worry about Amaranth, he wouldn’t dare harm her now! He needs her to attract you!” Astrid replied.
The crew stopped running after a few minutes, in front of a large white oak tree. Jay laid against the side of the oak tree with a sigh of relief.
Back at the pond, Sigurd thought for a moment, “Doesn’t seem that he’s coming back… I’ll take her elsewhere and wait…”
“Come on, runt!” he said grabbing Amaranth by the nap again.
“Put me down! Where are we going!” she exclaimed.
“He’ll come after you eventually….until then, I’m not going to stay where everyone can see me… too many people think I’m dead… and too many would go to great lengths to see to it that I’m dead…” Sigurd replied. He walked off, and went to wait for Volkner to find him.
“He’s a smart boy… He’ll figure out my location eventually…” He thought to himself.
Back at the oak tree, the gang was all rested up.
“……I don’t believe it….she’s gone again….” Volkner commented.
“Listen, Volkner… you go back home for now… get some of your strength back. When I find out ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING, I’ll let you know…” Astrid said.
“I am a bit worn out from all of this… I guess your right, Astrid. Goodbye for now.” said Volkner walking back towards the abandoned shack.
It was about noon when Volkner reached the old church. Shadow and Fudge sat outside next to it.
“Hello again, my friend! Any luck?” Shadow asked.
“A little but… not much…” Volkner replied.
“Where ya goin’ now?” inquired Fudge.
“I’m going back home for now… gonna take it easy and rest up for a couple of days.” said Volkner.
“Well, I don’t want to hold you up… I’ll see you when fate brings us together again.” said Shadow.
It was around eight P.M. when he arrived at the small town where he met the Scotty.
As he entered the town, the old dog greeted him, “And how went you’re search?”
“Do we have to talk about it?” Volkner asked.
“I don’t know, do we?” replied Douglas.
“Look, old timer, don’t piss me off right now…”
“How many times will I have t tell you my name is Douglas?”
“That depends, how much longer do you intend to ramble about nothing, OLD TIMER?” said Volkner as he walked past the old hound.
“He’s a rude little thing… but I like him. hehe” laughed Douglas.
It wasn’t until about five A.M. until he reached the large forest, and he hadn’t slept all night. On his way through the woods, he ran into Dirge again.
“You lost again?” laughed Dirge.
Volkner looked at Dirge with tired, blood shot eyes and said “Right now, I so tired, I couldn’t find my way out of an open box…”
“Ah, well why don’t you follow me again? Returnign home, I presume?... ya know, pulling all nighters like that is bad for you…” Dirge replied.
Around ten A.M., he and Dirge arrived at the other end of the forest.
“You know that farm up there? There are lots of dog’s there… Dlamatians like you, I think… maybe you can find a place to call home there…” said Dirge as he turned back and went into the forest.
“Before he could even get past the farm, Volkner collapsed from exhaustion.
It was about three hours before a tall blonde man in a sweater vest and tan colored pants came to his rescue. The man lifted the fainted pup and took him to the barn.
He awoke the next day, and stumbled to his feet. “W…where am I?” Volkner said as he wandered outside.
It had snowed overnight, and he sat down on the cold, wet snowy ground. He watched two Dalmatian pups having a snowball fight for a few minutes wondering what could possibly be so fun about such a thing.
A female Dalmatian who had lots of spots all over, but not too many, threw a snowball at Volkner and landed it right in his face.
“Come on, join in the fun” She said with a giggle.
Volkner shook the snow off his face. He growled and threw a snowball at the female’s face. "Why are you playing with me? You don't even know me..." He asked
"I was just trying to be nice!" thw female whined shaking the snow off herself and walking away. She walked up to a male Dalmatian pouting.
"What's the matter, Candi?” he asked.
"I was just trying to be nice and that dog growled at me!" Candi said.
He looked over at Volkner. He knew that he wasn't mean but there was some personality flaw about him.
"I don't think he meant to get angry at you Candi. If we keep doing nice things for him and be his friend I'm sure he'll like us." He said.
A couple days later, Volkner walked by, and saw Candi and the male from before.
. "It's that girl again... whatever... everyone I’ve ever gotten close to has abandoned me so far… except for a few…..." He said.
“Is something the matter?” Candi asked walking over to Volkner, “My name is Candi.”
"No, i'm just bored out of my skull..." Volkner said, “and my name’s Volkner…”
He didn't want to play with her before but she felt she might try again. "Ace, Me, and a few others are going swimming at Hiccup Hole. You are more then welcome to come hang out with us there." Candi said.
"Not like I have anything else to do, right?" Volkner responded. “Why am I doing this?” he thought to himself.
"So does that mean you'll join us? Yay, we'll show you where Hiccup Hole is follow me." Candi said.
"Why is it called Hiccup Hole?" Volkner asked laughing.
Candi put a paw to her chin and said "You know something, I don't know."
"You're the first person i've made freinds with here, ya know..." Volkner said.
"Well I'm pretty sure I won't be the last. Remember you have got Ace also. He considers you a friend he just doesn't really know how to express it as well as I do." Candi said.
"Well, i've been alone almost my whole life...so..." Volkner replied.
"You know, that's pretty sad, and that's why I was so nice to you. Nobody deserves to be alone their whole life. Everybody deserves at least one good friend. " Candi said.
"I haven't spoken to many people at all... You're actually the first girl i've spoken to other than my sister...heh." Volkner replied laughing.
“Really, you have a sister? I haven't seen her around. Where is she? Maybe I can help you find her. I know what it's like to be alone and not speak to people. I was born an orphan my family ditched me when I was no more then a baby. Before I met Ace I never talked to anyone before."Candi said.
"No, you could'nt possibly help find her... shes been gone for a month... I don't know what happened to her exactly... My half brother kidnapped her to attract me, because he couldn’t find me, and needed my help. She didn’t know or trust him, and refused to tell my location, so he used her as bait… whenI finaly found her… there was an unfortunate tunr of events… I’d rather not talk about it…” Volkner replied.
She put a comforting paw on Volkner's shoulder. "You don't have to talk about her if you don't want too. I'm not gonna make you tell me something you don't want too. But if you ever need a friendly ear to listen. Just call my name and I'll be there. Now come on let's get to the water before all the water dries up!" She said with a little laugh.
I'm not much of a swimmer, just so you know..." Volkner said.
"That's okay! I am and would really love to swim but if you want some company I wouldn't mind just talking to you. I can swim with Ace any old time and besides Ace and I wanna know more about you."Candi said.
“I'm ussually calm and quiet, as you've noticed... I have an attitude problem sometimes, but I don't snap at people for just anything... Hehe... I just noticed how tiny you are..." Volkner snickered.
"Yeah, well I'll grow." She said getting slightly agitated she hated being called tiny.
"Oh, i'm sorry, did I offend you? I didn't mean anything by it... in fact, I find you quite....uhh... know what, nevermind." Said Volkner.
Candi smiled a bit at Volkner. "Apology excepted" She said happily. And then she smiled even more when Volkner stopped his sentence. "You find me what? You can tell me anything Volkner. " She said looking into his eyes sweetly.
“No, you don't wanna know. haha!" Let's get going...even if I don't like to swim, I can just hang out next to the huccup hole...or...whatever ya called it..." Said Volkner.
"Okay let's get going. And by the way it's called Hiccup hole. " Candi said with a smile leading the way.
"Hiccup, huccup, whatever.... it's a hole and it has water in it..." Volkner said.
"Yeah I guess you're right. You're pretty funny Volkner." Candi said.
"When I want to be. I've been to tired slash depressed lately... when Roger and Anita adopted me the other day, it was because I faintedout outside the farm when I was returning to London after looking for my sister." Volkner said.
"AWWWWWWWW, you poor thing. You must be a very loyal brother if you spent all this time trying to find your sister. "Candi said.
"Hey guys what's the hold up"? Barked Ace.
"We're coming Ace. " Candi said walking over to Ace . "Well, there it is Volkner Hiccup Hole." Candi said.

Well, everyone, this is the nex to last chapter. Only one more after this one!
Chapter 9
"Yeah, i'll just sit up here... I hate water unless i'm drinking it…" said Volkner.
"Maybe I'll just sit right here with you for a while. I mean if you don't mind the company." Candi said.
" I don't mind. I've seen you hanging around that Ace guy alot.. are you two... well you know?" Volkner asked.
" If you mean "You Know" as in like dating then yes. He and I had been friends for quite a while. I met him a while back. I was a stray puppy stuck in the pound back then. And Ace he was there too. Ace saved my life and busted us both out of there. Ever since then I had a crush on him. And he had a crush on me. And a little while ago we became boyfriend and girlfriend. "Candi sighs lovingly as she looks over at Ace.
"What about you? I'm sure you must have a special someone somewhere? Who's the lucky girl Volkner?" She asked with a smile to Volkner.
"Heh...no actually..." Volkner said with a yawn. "Man I'm tired..."
Candi looked over at Volkner. She couldn't really understand why no girl would love Volkner. He seemed like a really nice guy once you got to know him.
" Ya gotta understand, because i got a bad reputation because of who my father was..well, ya know... look, I gotta go. I'm leaving early tommorow morning, but i'll be back in a couple of days. see ya then, huh?" Volkner said.
Volkner was sleeping outside, next o a fence as opposed to inside the barn with everyone else.
“Volkner!” A familiar voice called.
“Volkner, wake up!” It called again.
“hmm? Oh, Astrid….” Volkner said with a yawn.
“We’ve got a lead… I found paw prints near the pond, and you can still them… his scent is still strong as well. We leave tomorrow. Meet me outside the woods, ok?” Astrid informed him.
“Actually, I was leaving tomorrow anyway to look by myself.” Volkner replied.
“A stubborn one, are you? I’ll see you in the morning then.” Astrid Cchuckled.
Early in the morning, around five thirty A.M., when the sun hadn’t even risen, Volkner departed. He approached the exit to the farm, and saw a silhouette standing there. As he approached, it became clear it was Candi.
“Volkner… I wanna help you… can I come too?” Candi asked.
“I dunno… could be dangerous.” Volkner replied.
“I’ll be fine, I can take care of myself. Ace knows where I’ll be, so it’s alright.”
Well.. I don’t guess theres a good reason why not then… let’s go” said Volkner as the two left for the woods.
Volkner reached the outer perimeter of the woods, and was quite shocked to see not only Astrid, but Fudge, Shadow, Jay, and even Dirge waiting for him.
“I hope you don’t mind, Volkner, but… I Hired a little help.” Astrid said with a smile.
“I’m just here to rip Father’s heart out of his freakin’ chest…” Jay replied, eyes closed, and looking towards the ground.
“Well, old friend… I guess you’re going to owe me yet another favor…” Shadow laughed.
“And you didn’t think he’d leave me all alone, do ya? Looks like I ended up traveling with you anyway!” said Fudge.
“What can I say, kid, I just like ya…” said Dirge with a small smile.
Everyone, this is Candi… I met her on the farm. She’ll be accompanying us as well” Volkner said.
“Well, I guess we better get going…” Astrid said leading the way.
He brought them all to the pond where Jay and Volkner first met.
“These paw prints lead to this old path here… quite overgrown with foliage as you can see… I never even noticed it up until now… Hardly even recognizable as a path.” said Astrid.
“I have to walk through all those thorns?!” Candi exclaimed.
“I told you that you wouldn’t wanna come…” said Volkner.
“Would you rather ride on my back?” Dirge offered lying down,” I’m tall, and far above the thorns.”
Candi climbed onto Dirge’s back and held on by his neck.
“Are you trying to choke me?” Dirge commented.
“Everyone ready? I have a felling he’s not far from the other side!” Astrid asked.
The party entered the dense, thorny trail. It was a long, and far from straight path.
On the other side, was a rocky, dirt trail leading up to a dead end. The dead end was a large area, encircled by large, boulder like rocks.
“Well, Astrid….” Jay asked giving Astrid an evil glare.
Volkner gave Jay a shush and walked slowly forward.
Sigurd walked on top of a large boulder from behind it, carrying an unconscious Amaranth in his jaws.
“I thought I heard voices…” Sigurd said.
“AMARANTH! Put he down, now!” Volkner yelled.
“Fine…” Sigurd said laying her on the rock. He jumped of the rock all the way to where Volkner was standing.
“Come on Volkner… My blood runs in your veins… me, you… and Jay… together, we could be unstoppable!” Sigurd said.
“I’ll never be like you…” Volkner said with a growl.
“Well then… I’ll get the pleasure of killing the way I should have when you were a pup….” Sigurd said growling and showing his teeth.
“Mother… this is for you…” Volkner said as he lunged at Sigurd, and bit him on his throat. He held on to his throat, as Sigurd thrashed about trying to shake him off. He finally fell, and with the swipe of a paw, Sigurd knocked into a boulder.
“My turn!” said Jay, jumping into the fray. He and his father dodged a few attempts to hit one another.
“They can’t do this alone…HEY! WHY DON’T YOU FIGHT SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE!” yelled Dirge.
Dirge rushed in and tacked Sigurd to the ground, just saving Jay from a bite to neck.
“…A thank you would be nice…” Dirge said, looking at Jay.
Jay held his silence.
Volkner recovered from his impact with the rock, and joined back in.
Volkner and Jay ganged up on Sigurd wile he was down, and, Jay had his calws on Sigurd’s hest, as Dirge held him down.Volkner put his claws at his father’s throat.
“Well… any last words, you bag of worms?” Jay asked.
“….Go to Hell…” Sigurd said lunging up, and knocking Jay, Volkner, and Dirge to the ground.
“You’ll go first!” Shadow exclaimed, running towards Sigurd.
Sigurd was quick to react, quickly stopped Shadow, and fliped him onto his back.
Whole his father was occupied with Shadow, Volker got underneath his chest, and dug his claws into Sigurd’s heart.
Sigurd’s eyes became wide, and he groaned a bit.
Volkner swiped his claws as they dug into Sigurds flesh. Blood stained his black paw, and Sigurd stumbled to the ground.
“You…you think…” Sigurd said before coughing up some blood, “you think this is the end of it?”
Sigurd stumbled onto his feet, and fell down again. He got up once more and growled, showing his blood stained teeth. “I refuse to die such a death at the hands of my own flesh and blood…” He said.

Final Chapter
Sigurd pounced at Volkner. This shocked Volkner, who didn’t have time to react. Sigurd knocked him to his back. Volkner, now helplessly lies underneath the paws of Sigurd.
“Volkner!” Candi said stepping forward.
“Stay back!” Astrid warned her, putting a paw in front of her.
Shadow again tackled Sigurd, who stood up and rammed him back.
The blow sent Shadow rolling across the ground.
Jay swiftly struck Sigurd in the muzzle with his right paw, as he ran by, and did the same with his left as he came back.
Jay and his Father exchanged blows as, Jay slowly moved backward, leading Sigurd close to the rig of boulders surrounding the area. Jay hoped onto one of the boulders, hoping to get a height advantage.
“I wouldn’t look down….” Sigurd said.
Naturally, Jay turned and looked downward. It was a cliff, and it was a long way down.
“I told you not to look…” Sigurd said as he pushed the large rock over the edge, Jay still atop.
Jay jumped off in time to grasp the edge of the wall with his paw. Sigurd stepped on them and forced him to let go.
Jay’s screams were heard for only a few moments before he was too far down to be heard.
“JAY!” exclaimed Astrid in shock.
Sigurd turned around to see Volkner charging him, a look of violence and anger in his expression.
Volkner gave a growl as he collided with his father, causing hi to trip over the edgeof the very cliff he just pushed Jay from.
Sigurd struggled to hold on to the side. “Volkner… my son…. Please….” He begged.
“I’m not your son…. And I will never be your son… and to think that ater all the innocent blood you’ve spilled, you want me to have mercy on YOU?...pathetic…”” Volkner said as he dug his nails into Sigurd’s left paw.
Sigurd snatched the paw away, just as Volkner bit the one on the right, causing him to fall to his death.
“….Jay….” said Astrid, clearly mournful of his death.
“Volkner… are you hurt, my friend?” Shadow said staggering towards Volkner.
“Shadow… you’re injured….” Volkner replied.
“I’m fine…” shadow said wincing a bit.
“I can’t believe it… I thought I’d never see this day…” Volkner said walking to his unconscious sister.
“She seems fine, Volkner…” Shadow commented.
“I think she’ll wake up in a while… you’d better carry her for now” Dirge said.
“Right” Volkner replied, putting his sit onto his back.
“She doesn’t have many spots…” Candi said.
“Hehe… yeah… she has a lot on her right foot, and her left ear, and a few on her back, but she’s always been mostly white like this….well, everyone, let’s go home….” Volkner said.
Back at the farm, inside the barn, the gang sat around Amaranth, who was just waking up.
“Where am I?” She said with a yawn.
She first saw Dirge sitting in front of her. Startled by his menacing appearance she fell backwards, looking up at Volkner, who was looking down at her with a smile.
“It’s OK… he’s on our side.” Said Volkner.
Amaranth looked around a bit. “Hey, wheres that other guy?” She asked.
Astrid stood up and started to walk out of the barn “…if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go now…” he said sadly, leaving the barn.
“Jay… he didn’t make it… he died trying to help save you… turns out that guy was our half brother.” Volkner said.
“So, what was all this about?” Amaranth inquired with her head tilted to the side.
“It’s a long story… I’ll tell you sometime.” Volkner answered.
“Well, me and Fudge better get going… it’s going to be dark soon.” Shadow said as he and Fudge left.
“I guess I should get going too… I’ll visit you sometime, eh kid?” said Dirge, heading off for his woods.
“Hi… my name is Candi. I’ve heard a lot about you from Volkner.” Candi said.
“Nice to meet you… why don’t we all just rest for now… there’s plenty of time tomorrow to get to know one another.” Amaranth said.
“You better go let Ace know your home, Candi.” Volkner said.
“Yea, you’re right, Volkner. See ya tomorrow then!” Candi exclaimed as she ran out.
“Sis… you’ll never know what you put me through. You’re the only thing I have left… a wise man once told me… you never know how precious siblings are until they’re gone for good… and for a while I thought I’d never see you again.” Volkner said.
Amaranth had already gone to sleep, and didn’t here most of his rambling.
Volkner laughed a bit, and laid his head across his sisters neck. “It’s finally over…” Volkner said closing his eyes. ________________________________
