Here's another one... I mentioned in the last story that Nike would be the next one to fight, except his opponent is the second-in-command of the Heartbreakers! How will the young Nike fare against the powerful Rob?
Of all the months of research, I somehow MISSED the fact that Rob was originally created by Nuke . Way to go, DJ...
--------------------------------------------
"Nike vs. Rob: The Fast and Furious VS An Enemy Leader"
Nike Lumenstavros Dearly is a very energetic young pup. He's the youngest of the Pups of Nicodemus, and the youngest Radiant-Templar. Nike is also the fastest. He earned his name due to his great speed he displayed when his family were strays, and this reminded Nike's father of the great runner, Phidippides, who ran twenty-six miles from Marathon to Athens to deliver the news of victory of the Greeks over Persia. He screamed, "Nike!" and dropped dead. Thus, the pup has since been known as Nike, meaning "Victory." Nike wears a white sleeveless shirt with the Radiant-Templar symbol on the left-side chest, a pair of dark blue jeans, with a dagger sheathed on the side. He also wears a crucifix amulet around his neck with a dark green emerald at the center. It was given to him by his parents, and is the only earthly remnant he has of them. Nike himself is an Ultimate Epic Class: High-Blitzer.
Rob is the current boyfriend of Heartbreaker Leader: Diana, and he is her second-in-command. His strength is only matched by that of Diana and Stealth. He is evil and cruel. Rob normally picks on the weaker pups on the farm, and more often than none he was stood up to by the Heroes. Now, with the current situation of Radiant-Templars and Heartbreakers fighting one another, the Heroes are on the defensive, and are still recovering from the last major Heartbreaker attack. The only ones in fact on the offensive are the Heartbreakers.
A few days after the victory Atlas procured over Malinda and the Templar reclamation of Hiccup Hole, Nike himself was training at the Bark Brigade Track. This is where Lt. Pug makes the pups run laps. It is also a vital location. Whoever controls this location can store supplies and be very close to the barn. As of now, it is under Templar control. Nike was running laps around the dirt track, improving his speed, stamina, and endurance. He was abruptly shrouded in a red aura, and his velocity drastically increased. He reached a speed of Mach 1, the speed of sound. This didn't last long. He broke Mach 2, Mach 3... He's never exceeded Mach 4, however. Most High-Blitzer can't even say they broke Transonic speeds, yet Nike is well into Supersonic speeds. He stopped running, and planted his feet down in front of his good friend and training partner, Missy Dearly. Missy is a High-Aerialist, a skilled acrobat, and is one of the Original 15 born to Pongo and Perdita. Normally, stopping abruptly at high speeds will severely damage the body, and can kill the creature. Not Nike, or anyone trained to withstand the effects. When properly trained, one can go from zero to Mach 3 and back to zero in a second and be completely fine.
People are often reminded of The Flash or Quicksilver when they hear of the speeds Rushers and High-Blitzers can reach.
"Well done!" Missy exclaimed. "You're improving! I'd say no High-Blitzer can match your speeds! Though, I think you should take a break for today. You don't want to overwork yourself."
"I'm not done until I hit Mach 5..." Nike replied. "Hypersonic speeds..."
"Nike, you're gonna kill yourself..." Missy raised an eyebrow at Nike. "Human fighter jets fly at those speeds..."
Nike stared at his friend, and smirked. "How fast do you think Quicksilver, The Flash, or even you can go?"
"Quicksilver and The Flash run at the speed of sound! Something you exceed!" said Missy. "Besides, Acrobats and Rushers are essentially the same class, except one's ground-based and one is air-based."
"Yeah, but still-" Nike was cut off by that sentence. Out of the rustling of the bushes and trees nearby emerged another Dalmatian. He wore a pair of baggy black pants, a navy blue shirt and silver arm bracers. On the back of his shirt, the Heartbreaker emblem was present. His class is unique... He's a Dual Ultimate Class: Videographer-Defender. He carries a triangular shield and a black sword... Rob.
"If you're as fast as they say, let's put that to the test..." Rob taunted. He took his sword and started to beat his shield with it, creating a metallic clanging sound. This emphasizes the strength of the shield. He wants Nike to charge.
"Nike, don't!" Missy cried. "It's just what he wants!"
"Missy, get out of here. Tell the others that Rob is here..." Nike growled. "I'm going to beat him, then you'll all see that I can be powerful as well!"
"You run at Mach 3, you don't need our approval to know that you're strong!" Missy argued with the arrogant pup. Nike wanted desperately to fight the Heartbreakers.
"Just go!" Nike yelled. He turned and ran towards Rob, phasing into a red and white blur. Rob did the same, except he phased into a black blur that emitted red, blue, and green. The two streaks of colors clashed into one another briefly and zoomed away in different directions, creating a blinding flash every time they collided. Missy did what Nike told her to do. She ran to the barn to warn the others. Nike and Rob clashed blades, and sparks of grinding metal rocketed in all directions
"You're weak, you know what?" Rob insulted.
"Shut up!" Nike yelled. He sunk his dagger into Rob's shield-arm. He quickly arced the blade below Rob's shoulder, tearing a few tendons. Shrieking in pain, Rob grabbed Nike by the neck with the last remaining control and strength in his arm and slammed Nike on the ground and began to choke him.
Nike was gasping desperately for air, flailing his arms and legs around in a frantic attempt to escape. Rob suddenly released his grip, and his blood-covered arm hung loosely off of Rob's shoulder, limp and powerless... A large red gash streaked underneath Rob's arm. His shield hit the ground with clanging and moaning... Nike faded into the red and white streak he was before and rushed at the Heartbreakers' second-in-command. He struck hard, slicing across Rob's chest, then pivoted back and sliced another part of Rob's body, encircling and butchering Rob in all directions. Rob was bombarded by fists, kicks, and metal striking him at Supersonic speeds from all directions. Rob, having had enough of this, turned to his left and the sound of tearing flesh filled the air. Nike had impaled himself on Rob's sword.
"Told ya..." Rob snickered. He chuckled for a bit, then slowly began to transfer video energy into his sword, and forced it into Nike's body. With widened eyes and a final exhale; black, red, green, and blue light scattered from the center of Nike's chest, and he fell back. Rob relinquished his blade from the body of the Templar, and wiped the blood off on his sleeve. Rob eyed the fallen Nike, admiring his great work. Nike glared up into the sky and prepared to take his final breath... As Rob turned around and began to leave, a hand had been placed on his shoulder. Rob turned around and bam! A forceful uppercut met with Rob's lower jaw and sent him flying a good distance off the ground! With turquoise eyes burning with red flares for pupils, Nike's Adrenaline-fueled body would not be so easily beaten by Video magic!
When he landed, Rob swung his sword at Nike's neck. Nike blocked with his dagger, and fanned the weapon around so he could backhand strike his opponent. The two combatants disintegrated into their colored streaks and rushed around the area occasionally clashing into each other, just like at the start of the battle. The two met at the center of the track, Nike swept Rob's leg, then Rob spun on his back and performed a makeshift handstand to kick Nike a ways back. The two locked blades again, and Rob unleashed a resounding roar that pulsated a torrent of video magic into Nike's open wounds. Rob appeared to be a Video-magic dragon at that instance. Nike released a scream of torture!
Both combatants were exhausted. Rob wrapped his one good arm around Nike's arm and neck and catapulted him over his shoulder, however Nike planted his paws firmly on the ground. In a leaning-back position, Nike struggled while Rob had him in a headlock. Nike stabbed Rob multiple times in the abdomen and the arms, but Rob would not release his grip. With his kneecap shrouded in black video energy, Rob drove it into the base of Nike's spine.
Cracking and snapping are the sounds of bones grinding and shattering. These were the very same sounds present as Nike's thoracic vertebrae fractured in half. Rob had broken through it easier than glass, and then he hacked at Nike's upper body with his sword, imbued, cloaked, and empowered by the technological-magic of the Heartbreaker second-in-command. As he did this, Nike hit the ground hard and drifted into unconsciousness. Suffering in agonizing pain and shame of defeat, Nike's motionless body lay there. Silent, but very much alive. That was probably the most brutal part. Missy and a few other Heroes arrived shortly after this. They were in complete shock as they saw their unconscious friend, and their enemy's second-in-command. Some of the Heroes saw the fight from a distance, but could not believe the result until they saw it up close and personal.
"Death is too good for you..." Rob hissed and sheathed his sword. "You will never defeat the Heartbreakers. You crumble and shrivel faster than burning paper, Nike. You don't deserve a name that means 'victory' if all you do is lose." Nike had torn the tendons of Rob's right arm early in the fight. Rob had defeated Nike with no shield and one arm.
"Nike!!!" Missy shrieked. She stared at Rob intensely with an expression of hatred and rage. "Get out of here!!!"
"You don't tell me what to do, got that?" Rob snapped back. After sheathing his sword, he lifted the unconscious Nike by the collar of his shirt and tossed him over to the Heroes. "Take your boyfriend, I'm done with him." Missy knelt down to Nike and held him in her arms. He was carried by Patch and Clayton back to the barn, and the few other Heroes that Missy brought quickly but quietly followed. Missy remained for a few seconds, glaring angrily at Rob, who stood there looking back at her with a strong, solemn stare. She turned and followed her friends back to the barn. Rob sat down at one of the barricades at the track and began to nurse his incapacitated arm.
Needless to say, Hyperion wasn't very happy with Nike's actions. Hyperion lectured Nike on this when he awoke, after a whole week that is. The Radiant-Templars had lost a vital location in the conflict against the Heartbreakers, and some of the Heroes began to lose trust in Nike for his careless actions and recklessness. After being lectured by Hyperion, Nike was cared for by his brother and Missy.
"I messed up, bro..." Nike muttered.
"You d**n right you did." Hyperion growled back. "But I observed from the barn, you fought valiantly... Yes, I'm angry with you, but I'm also proud of you. You stood your own against Rob of all Heartbreakers, their second-in-command."
"Yeah!" Missy agreed. "You fought back instead of just handing over the track!"
With a weak and tired arm, Nike grabbed Hyperion's wrist. Hyperion looked at his brother with concern and worry in his eyes. "I don't want to go back on the battlefield again..."
At the beginning of that day, Nike desired so much to fight a Heartbreaker, to prove himself to the Heroes. Now, barely holding on to the strands of life, Nike does not want to step out on the field again anytime soon. Though Nike had not died, his recklessness certainly did. The Heartbreakers had won that day, and the Heroes are looking towards any Templar but Nike to go on the offensive. They would not trust Nike again soon, however they commend and respect him for his bravery and his determination for refusing to give up without a fight. Regardless, when Nike steps into battle again, he will have the full support of his Heroic friends.
