Ok, so this is my first fic with chapters in quite a while. i'm estimating it at about 12 to 13 chapters long. This is a bit more violent than most of my fics, but it is nowhere near the degree of Drake's fic O.o.... speaking of which, I will be using his character, Carnage, as a villain along with my own character, which I made as a partner to him, Cyra.
You may be confused by this fic in the beginning, but the further into it you read, the more you will begin to understand.
A Nightmare Reborn
Chapter 1
Volkner was lying around lazily, half asleep, when Fay came rushing up to him. She had a look of panic on her face as she shook Volkner awake.
“Volkner! How many do we have?!” she yelled.
“….What the heck are you talking about?!” Volkner replied, quite confused.
“Astrid gave us two days to gather as many as we could… at least that we thought might help!” Fay answered.
“Oh…. That…. I guess we better get started since we wasted one whole day, huh?” said Volkner.
“Who is this Jay guy anyway?” Fay asked.
“It’s a long story…. I’ll tell you another time.” Volkner replied, “You can sit back if ya want, I got this covered.”
Volknered walked around the farm thinking of who he could bring. Astrid had came to see him a couple of days ago, and wanted him to get a group of pups that could help him. We all remember when Jay took a fall off of that cliff…. But…. What happened to him after that? Astrid had found the answer to this, and wasted no time contacting Volkner about the issue.
Along his way, Volkner met up with Nuke.
“Hey… You like road trips?” Volkner asked.
“…Why the hell are you asking me if I like roadtrips?” Nuke said.
“I gotta meet someone, and the need help… from more than me alone… I know we don’t always see eye to eye, but you are strong… Can you come along?”
“Meh, why not.” Nuke replied walking away.
“We leave tomorrow morning! Meet me outside the barn!” Volkner yelled as Nuke walked into the distance.
Volkner sat down, and tried to think of others. No one really came to mind…. Except for Tac…. Volkner approached Tac’s shed, and knocked on the door.
“I’m not here!” Tac said in a disgruntled voice.
“Too, bad, I’m coming in anyway…” Volkner said, pushing the door open and entered.
“There sat Tac, typing at his computer. Volkner stared at the screen for a few seconds, but he had no idea what Tac was doing.
“Are you aware that I could “accidently” knock over these chemicals here, and burn your face off?”
“Yes… but my friend need’s help… And I can’t help him alone… Please, Tac, you gotta help!”
“….What’s in it for me?” Tac asked as he ceased typing for a moment.
“Well… why does it matter? You don’t understand what’s” Volkner muttered before interrupted by Tac.
“NOT INTERESTED!” Tac screamed as he began typing once more.
“….fine….” Volkner said leaving Tac’s shed.
Later that night, Volkner, Fay, Candi and Holly were sitting in the barn. Most of the other dogs were already asleep.
“Ok… so there’s only you and Nuke?” Fay asked, raising a brow.
“Sounds like trouble….” Candi said shaking her head.
Holly, who, thanks to Volkner’s lessons, was quite decent at reading lips now, closed her eyes and nodded in agreement with Candi and Fay.
“Well, I tried to get Tac in, but he wouldn’t join us…” Volkner said.
“I’m going with you…. That way, you and Nuke won’t kill each other along the way.” Fay said.
“I’ll go… because… well, what else is there to do?” Candi laughed.
Holly didn’t quite get what everyone had said, but she understood enough to know they were accompanying Volkner. She looked at Volkner and smiled sweetly, and he new what she meant.
“It might be a bit dangerous….after what he explained to me, but… I guess.” Volkner said with a small smile.
The next morning before the sun had even risen, Volkner and the others set off. The cold winter air was piercing at this time of morning, and it was too dark to see well, but they had no choice but to leave early. Just as they had left the dearly property, a strange voice muttered close by, “…Hey…you’re I need of assistance?”
Fay stopped and began looking around, and the others soon did the same.
“Who are you? Where are you hiding, you coward?” Volkner asked, still searching around.
“A coward! Hardly!” said the mysterious voice as a dalmation pup walked up behind Volkner.
Volkner turned around, and jumped back in shock. The pup had a lot of black on his muzzle, and tail. He had spots an abundance of spots all over his ears, back, and legs.
“My name is Eisenheim… at your service.”
“Ok, and why are you helping us?”
“For my own amusement… I don’t come out of hiding often, and you’re some of the only pups on this farm that know about me. I’m just not a social dog.”
“Fair enough… but I’m watching you. You slip up, and your dead.” Said Volkner with a snarl. He didn’t wuite know what to think of this new pup. He didn’t hate him, but he didn’t know if he should trust him either.
“Let’s move.” Volkner said as the group began walking down the asphalt country road outside the farm.

I didn't see why i need to describe a setting for the barn, the front of the barn, and the road outside the dearly's farm... it's kinda obvious what that looks like if you've ever so much as seen one episdoe of the series.

If someone likes 101 dals, but never seen an episode? Or, forgets what it looks like, or doesn't know that thier at the barn.

I promise it's better than chapter 1... my fics have a famous history of having sucky first chapters.
Chapter 2
The road came to a dead end, with a large forest in front of it. It was winter, and so the tree’s were mostly dead.
“It may not look all that big… but it’s deceivingly large. I went through here when I was looking for Amaranth… watch out for Wolves…” Volkner warned the others.
“So, how far out des this Astrid guy live?” Nuke asked, already getting impatient.
“Let’s see…. You get out on the other side of these woods, then there is a small town in the distance. We have to pass through there, and through a lightly wooded forest, the we should come out near an abandoned church on a hill… I have a friend who lives there… anyway, from there, it’s just a short trek into the woods behind that church. He lives is a shed, kinda like Tac’s, only…um… shabbier.”
“….Aw man…..” Nuke complained.
They continued through the forest, the rotting foliage beneath there feet, wet and dirty, was sticking to the pads of their paws. Out f nowhere, comes what else but the exact thing Volkner warned about… wolves.
“Well, well…. You again… and this time you’ve brough us appetizers… how nice of you!” chuckled a gray furred wolf in front of them.
“This time, you won’t get lucky… Dirge isn’t going to be able to save you all the time, you know…” said a female gray wolf to right.
Another male wolf was to their left, but he simply kept quiet and grinned. Holly, being deaf, had no idea what was going on. All she knew was that there were wolves surrounding them… and that she was scared.
“Don’t worry… I’ve got this!” Eisenheim said quietly to the others.
Eisenheim stepped forward and taunted the wolves to take him first. The pack leader laughed a bit before looking over at the other male, who growled. When he looked back however, Eisenhaim was no longer there.
“What about me?”a voice called from behind him. He turned around to see another Dalmatian… but it’s spot pattern was nothing like Eisenheim’s… He had black ears, and a few large spots on hi back, and nothing more… surely this wasn’t Eisenheim… was it?
Confused, the wolf turned back to his front, and the pup still was not there. He looked behind himself again, and there was no pup there either.
“What are you looking for?” Called a voice from high up in a tree.
Everyone looked up into a huge dead oak tree. One of it’s larger branches, there was another pup, with another spot pattern.
“What the…” the wolf said before being tackled to the ground by a black wolf with red eyes.
“What did I tell you… don’t mess with the pups that come through her, ESPECIALLY that one right there!” black wolf said pointing at Volkner.
“Bah! Whatever!” said the gray wolf, as the black wolf let him up. He and his small pack ran away.
“Thanks Dirge.” Volkner said with a sigh of relief.
“No problem, kid… what brings you here again… looks like you brought company this time… miss amaranth… and miss Candi… I don’t recognize these other faces though…”
“Well, this is Nuke… he’s.., umm…. He’s Nuke….’nuff said. This is Fay, my mate…”
“Your mate now? Why, you’ve hardly been on that farm a month!” Dirge said with a bit of a laugh.
“And I am Eisenheim… illusionist extraordinaire!” said Eisenheim from behind Dirge.
“Where the hell did you go?!” Nuke said, rather confused.
“All those other pups… were me!” Eisenheim revealed, “I can change my spot pattern… or at least make you think it has changed!”
“So.. you need me to get you out of here?....again?” Dirge offered.
“If you wouldn’t mind, Dirge.” Volkner replied.
Dirge lead them about the woods for quite a while, as Volkner explained why they were passing through.
“So, Astrid called on ya, huh?... I swear, that mutt gets weirder the more I learn about him…” Dirge commented with a shake of his head, “Well, here we are.”
“Thank’s for your help, Dirge. See ya around!” Volkner said, bidding farwell, as he walked out of the woods. On the other side was a large grassy field, and a small twon could be seen in the distance… but it wasn’t TOO far away.
The other’s came out of the forest behind Volkner.
“I should warn you…There’s this terrior that lives in that town named Douglas… he’s…. we’ll, he’s an annoying old fart, let’s avoid him if possible, hmm?” Volkner said leading onward.
As they pressed onward through the field they were inteupted by another Dalmatian pup running in front of them. He had messy hair, and his spot pattern matches jay… black right, white left ear, large splotches everywhere else. He even wore Jay’s charm, so surely it was Jay… but there was only one problem… Jay was supposed to dead.
“JAY?!...THE HELL!.....HOW DID YOU… YOU SHOULD BE!?!?” Volkner stuttered, starring into his brother’s eyes. His brother seemed to be living… but he still had a sort of lifelessness about him. He didn’t even blink.
“I’m sorry, brother…. You can’t go any farther…” Jay said as he crouched into a pouncing position and growled.
In the far distance, a silhouette could be seen, but it could not be made out who it was from where they were standing.
“Jay… tell me what’s going on…” Volkner said, backing up a bit.
Jay didn’t respond, but pounced on Volkner, and pinned him by his shoulders. He raised his right paw, and laid one sharp claw on Volkner’s neck.
“So… this is how it ends, is it?” Volkner said with a alugh, “I suppose you’re going to take on all of us?... Tell me, Jay, why are you doing this? It’s not like you!”
“Shut up!”
“That is IT! I can’t take any more of these!” Nuke yield as he charge, and tackled Jay off of Volkner. He, Voljner, and Eisenheim began closing in on Jay. Fay worked around to the back side… they had him cornered, in the middle of the grassy field. With no one around but the silhouette in thedistance.
Jay gave a growl, and knocking Fay to the ground ran away towards the shadowy figure. It was dusk, and he too became a silhoutte as he ventured further out. He walked slower as he approached the figure in the distance.
Jay looked up at a Dalmatian with spots that looked like blood drops. He looked evil, his very essence was evil. His fur was stained with a blood red color.
“Hmmph… looks like you picked a screw up, Cyra!” He said, as a female walked onto the scene. She had spots on her left hip that formed the shape of a skull. Her paws, ears, and tail were black, and she had a few other spots here and there, but nothing else much.
“I’m sorry… Maybe he’ll do better next time… for his sake , he better hope so!” She said with a snarl, showing off the claws on her right paw to Jay. He paw and part of her leg were stained with a blood red color, much like the male nearby.
“Let’s go…” The male said as he turned and began walking away.
“Carnage! Wait for me, love!” She called out following him, Jay close behind.
“I am NOT your love…” Carnage replied.
“Whatever…” She said back with a evil giggle.

Chapter 3
The group continued through the field to the small town. It was getting late, and was very dark. The small town was actually quite nice, and well kept to be so isolated. They marched through the town, and they were almost on the other side not too much later.
“Look’s like we’re gonna miss the geezer!” Volkner said, relieved that he wasn’t going to have to put up with the annoying old dog…. Oops, guess again! The Scotty came running merrily to the pups.
“Oh no…” Volkner said, putting a paw to his face.
“I’m sory, have we met!” the dog asked.
“It’s me, Douglas….”
“I’m Douglas’ brother!”
“…but he told me he didn’t have any…”
“I don’t!”
“What?”
“He doesn’t!”
“Wait…..GAH! CUT THE CRAP, YA OLD FLEA BAG!”
“Why? I just like to mess with ya!”
………bye…. Come on, let’s move!” Volkner said, walking onward, the others following close behind.
“What’s up with that guy?” Nuke asked.
“He’s old, crazy, and annoying…” Volkner replied, slightly agitated.
Holly gave a small sigh, and lifted her left paw, rubbing the pads on it with her right.
“Holly’s feet hurt… and we’re all tired… let’s take a break, ok?” Fay suggested.
“YES!!!!” Candi shouted with glee, as she collapsed in relief.
Ok, fine, but let’s get in the woods first. It’s only a little farther, and that way, maybe We’ll be safer… you know, from Jay, and whoever else is out there… I’m still not entirely sure what’s going on, but that was Jay, my brother, but… he would never do that…. Somethings fishy… and he died… I watched him die! It doesn’t make sense!
“Come on, Volkner, you need rest too… let’s go.” said Amaranth, nuzzling her brother.
They continued into the wooded area. It was only sparsely wooded, with many large trees, and the ground was covered with grass mostly, but a few areas were nothing but dirt. They all laid down for some rest. Eisenheim, being the weirdo that he is, chose to sleep inside a hollow log.
“Umm…. Hey… uh… wouldn’t the ground be softer?” Volkner suggested.
Eisenheim gave no reply, and stayed inside the log.
The rest of them were near the log on the ground. As daylight broke, Eisenheim woke first, and came out of his log, stretching.
“Get up everyone! It’s morning!” he chirped.
Volkner woke up and yawned, as Fay rolled onto her back, wiping her eyes. Candi woke up, and walked around a bit, because she was stiff. Nuke stood up, and punched Eisenheim in the back of the head for waking him so abruptly. Holly couldn’t hear any of the commotion, and continued to sleep. Amaranth was awake, but she was tired, and continued lying around. Candi shook Holly awake, and after a few brief moments they set off again. The sun shone through the few tree limbs, and illuminated the woods beautifully.
“Are we there yet?” Nuke asked.”
“No…” Volkner said with a sigh.
“Oh…. What about now?”
“NO!”
“Sorry, sheesh……….. now?”
Volkner stopped walking, and growled a bit. “Once we get out of these woods we will pretty much be there, so please, just shut up, and walk!”
“What if I don’t want to?” Nuke replied, a bit angered.
“Guys! Stop fighting!” Amaranth yelled.
“…..If you don’t want to, then you can stay here, and, then my brother, and whoever that other pup out there was can come kill you…. But hey, your choice…” Volkner replied.
Volkner continued leading on until they were out of the woods. Now sitting in front of a large hill, they could see an old church at the top.
“That church is abandoned… hasn’t been used for a good 80 years or so. There are two dogs living there that I know, and Astrid lives very close by, so it won’t hurt to drop in…” Volkner informed the others.
It took the little remaining strength they had to climb the steep hill, and by the time they were at the top, they were fatigued and out of breath. They entered the old, unkept abandoned church. Inside, there were webs in the corners of the ceiling, and most of the pus were unorganized, and dry rotted.
“Hey, Shadow! You here?” Volkner called out.
A jet black lab came from a room in the back.
“Of course I am old friend! What brings you to these parts again?” Shadow replied, approaching Volkner.
“Hello, Amaranth… haven’t seen you in a while either… and you, Candi.” Shadow said with a smile.
“This is Nuke, my semi insane friend” Volkner said before interrupted by Nuke yelling “HEY!”
“Anyway,” he continued, “and this is Eisenheim, Holly, and fay.”
“ah… well, well… isn’t this one lovely!” Shadow said lifting Fay’s front right paw with his own.
“HANDS OFF!” Volkner shouted smacking Shadows paw.
“Oh, I’m sorry, she’s you mate, isn’t she? My apologies.”
“And just so you know, Holly is deaf, she unless you look her straight in the face, and talk slowly so she can read your lips, she may not understand what you say.”
“Noted.”
“So where’s the brat?”
“Fudge? He’s with Astrid at the moment.”
“Just the guy I came to see.”
“Going to see Astrid are you? He didn’t mention your coming… Mind if I join you, for old time’s sake?”
“I don’t see why not, Shadow.” Volkner said, as he left, the others and Shadow following behind.

Expect updates to this fic every few days. I'm a bit more tied up with a larger project at the moment. At the time, it is simply called "Project Tails".
Chapter 4
Behind the church was an old rugged path, made of dirt, and rubble. At the end of the path there was a small pond, and a grassy area surrounding it. Nearby was an old rusted shed.
“He lives in here?!” Nuke said, a bit shocked that anyone could live in a shed that small.
“Well, Nuke, it might not look it, but this is actually larger than Tac’s shed. It has two rooms, even though one of them is basically a closet…” Said Volkner opening the door.
Inside, Astrid, a mix breed mutt with a messy grey coat, and Fudge, a brown puppy of unknown breed, and about half of Volkner’s age sat on a dirt floor. The walls were rusted, and there was brely anything except a few boxes inside.
“Volkner! It took you long enough!” Astrid said with a smile.
“Come on, Fudge, let’s go home. They have business to tend to.” Shadow said, as he and Fudge walked out of the shed.
“So… I ran into Jay on the way here… and he tried to kill me.” Volkner said shaking his head.
“That’s not like your brother at all! When I saw him, he just walked right past me like I wasn’t there! He didn’t even speak!” Astrid replied.
“Well, I saw someone else in the distance, but I have no idea who it was…but… I feel like we’ve been being watched….followed…” Volkner said.
Shadow and Fudge were along the path to the church, when Caranage approached them, heading towards the shed.
“Oh, are you a friend of Volkner’s?” Shadow asked.
Carnage only glared at him.
“Umm… can you speak?”
“Yes… “
“Well, are you going to answer my question then?”
“Silence you incompetent fool! I don’t need to answer any of your questions! Go on your way, or I’ll see to it that you die a slow, horribly unimaginable death!”
“Hey, Carnage! Is the path…clear?...oh…” Cyra yelled walking up the path.
“So… your name is Carnage?” Shadow said.
Astrid and the others came out of their shed, about to go look for Jay. When they came down the path, they saw Shadow, and Carnage, both in a pouncing position, growling, as Cyra looked on in laughter. Fudge was slowly backing away.
“What’s going on?” Astrid yelled, running to Shadow’s defense.
“Stay here, Girls! I don’t want you to get hurt!” Volkner said.
“You are so sexist….” Fay sighed.
“No, just concerned….” Volkner said walking down the path towards the others, as Eisenheim and Nuke followed.
“Come on, puppet! You’re helping too!” Cyra said, as a Jay walked up, seeming to care less who he was fighting, or what was even going on.
“Jay!” Astrid said in shock.
“Oh? You’ve met? Well then… You get to die at the very paws of your friend!” Cyra chuckled.
“What did you do to him?!” Volkner asked angrily.
“Oh, nothing, really! Helped him out actually! I found him dead at the bottom of a cliff…” Cyra explained,
There was another too... When I was a little puppy, I was possessed by hundreds of evil spirits… I now have a thirst for blood, and I can control them if I please… and so now, he too is possessed by one of my spirits… and I can make him do anything I want!
“You ****…” Astrid muttered growling.
“Thank you, sweetie!” Cyra said with a manic laugh.
Carnage looked up and saw the girls standing in the distance… It had been a while since he had killed, and that evil voice in his head was telling him over and over to kill them… But the other’s were right in front of him… an easy kill versus a fight…. “If I bring any harm to them, they will only fight even more fierce… I like a challenge…” Carnage thought to himself, lunging over Volkner and the others, and heading straight for the girls.
Candi and Amaranth screamed running away, but Fay, too scared to move, stood her ground. Carnage charged even faster as he neared her, and knocked her to the ground. She rolled a few feet, before sliding on her belly to a stop.
Volkner, naturally, come rushing over. Stopping five feet from her, he called out her name. She gave no response, but cringed a little as she stood up.
Carnage came rushing towards Fay, and pounced towards her. Volkner jumped in the way, and Carnage tackled Volkner instead, growling as he sank his teeth into Volkner’s neck.Carnage ripped Volkner’s neck with his teeth, and stood back and watched him bleed to death.
Volkner struggled to get up, blood still gushing from his wound, but it was a futile attempt.
“VOLKNER! NO!” his sister called, running to his side.
“Volkner…get up…please!” she cried, trying to help him up. She knew she wasn’t strong enough, but she continued to try. She collapsed, panting heavily, after several tries.
Volkner used some of his last remaining strength to put a paw on her back.
Fay sat at his other side, speechless.
Nuke tackled a cackling Carnage and put a sharp claw to his neck, only to be shoved off.
“Don’t you get it?! I’m stronger than all of you! …Who’s next?” Carnage asked.
“Why are you doing this?” Astrid asked Cyra, who he was still blocking off.
“Because we can… Someday, he will rule all of the canine population, and there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it!” laughed Cyra.
“Come on Volkner…get up…” Fay mumbled in tears, “there’s a whole farm full of pups that’s gonna miss you if you don’t…”
“Come again?” carnage said, picking up on Fay’s Words.
“You hear that, Carnage? A Whole farm of pups! It’s gotta be in the direction that they came from!” Cyra said with another laugh.
“Heh… that would be the perfect place to begin my plans… Forget this bunch… let’s go!” Carnage replied, he, Cyra, and Jay running off, headed for the Dearly Farm.
