Due to complications, my brother's girlfriend is living with us. In short, my brother has access to Netflix and she's been using it to watch the aforementioned series. After a few episodes in the background, (I was playing games on another console and TV in the room), I got interested as well. We are about 2 seasons in, out of the 6 available.
If anyone wants to discuss the show, do so here. I will say, it's far better than Twilight obviously, (handles the supernatural aspects in a more respectable manner, romance and emotion are present, etc), but the big bad villain mentioned in season 2 is so cliche in his goals and kind of an idiot if you think about it.

I used to watch it. It was good back then. I was fond of Damon and Klaus.

I'm in season 3. Klaus seemed cliche and stupid cause of what was first said. He isn't. He's but a human in the end; in need of respectable companionship, badly considering what his mother and father did.
Catherine is interesting if a little fun, but screw Esther or "Ms Frankenstein" as I'd call her. She never really loved her own children. Michael might have but not Esther. She does a spell to turn them into vampires so they may live on then does a complete 180 and tries to kill them...all, and any like them in terms of vampire...ignorant of emotional or mental effects on the vampires or those...involved.
And yeah, Damon's a little unstable but tons more fun than Steffan.
Als is it just me or do the witches have a tendency to go by a rule of "F*ck anyone who does magic with or without our help regardless of the stakes". That is to say...the spirits of witches. Clearly they are the true villains. Dang voodoo magic.
