This was the new Power Rangers movie trailer:
I'm pretty sure if can adjust to the redesigns made for Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I can deal with these but somethings I will point out:
They are using the first season of the show as a reference and they now have the five Rangers be social outcasts instead of preppy kids that hang out in a juice bar. It seems they want this movie to be more mature than the 1993 series.
They obviously want to do away with any racial profiling so now Jason and Kimberly are a white couple, Trini is a Latina, Zack is Chinese and Billy is black.
Zordon is in the movie and yes that is Bryan Cranston.
Thoughts on the new Alpha 5 anyone?? He looks like an alien/robot hybrid.
Yes they are fighting Rita Repulsa, Goldar and the Putty Patrol. Unlike on the series Rita's role looks like she'll be much more active.
This movie has a budget of $150 million.
This movie has a lot of stuff to overcome being an American movie about a live-action kids' show based on a Japanese sentai series. Methinks critics are gonna HATE this movie.

I do hear that Bryan Cranston actually did a number of the Monster Voices, in the Original Power Rangers Show. Some reports claim that they named Billie after him, as Billie's surname is also Cranston. So, I guess it does make sense, that he is in the Film.
Zordan's look kind of makes me think of some thing, as I have seen that type of look before, but I am not sure where.
When I frst saw Alpha Five's Design, I was like...What the heck? He kind of looks like if you stuck some really large head lights, on an inflated model of Sataurn, and then stuck it on some kind of Fish. Though, considering how they are smaller, the design works more, than if they are fll Size.
Does make me wonder, is this what Saban wanted Power Rangers to look like, when he frst did the Show?
There are some issues, I also have...Mostly, the darker Tone of the piece. I remember, there was that Film, Power / Rangers, which was a Dark & Grtty versio of Power Rangers; in that case though, it was suppose to be a parod of how Family Shows, from the Eighties & Nineties, are getting Dark & Grtty Adaptations! It seems like the Rangers are more the out cast group, than the group who help about and others like. I though that Zordan pick them, cause they were Good, rather than; "Throw some rocks at them, and see if they pick it up"!
I do like how they do have the Theme, at the climax of the Trailer, though.
I also wonder...If they do plan to do a Sequel, shall it be like them setting up the Green Ranger, in this Film, before having that be what the Sequel is?
What you think, Pups? ;3

babclayman: If the movie makes a lot of money, I have a pretty good feeling they will. I'm interested in checking out this flick myself. Even though I'm no longer a Power Rangers fan, the Mighty Morphing series does bring back some nostalgia.

I think I'll skip it. This just feels a bit too, dark, to be Power Rangers.

Well, there is R P M, Race. That one is like; Power Rangers meet Termnator. Though, even then, that does have its light scenes, too.
I do see the Film is trying some humour in it, but, as Race claims, feels a bit dark in its Tone, especially considering what it is base on, Eh!?

Trey_Vore I can honestly say that was actually Canon in the original series, it even said that there was a draft in the script of the Turbo Movie that Jason and Kim were suppose to be going out, but then it was scrapped when the final film was released, so they're going with it in this movie, though I've heard rumors that if Tommy appears, then it would be a love triangle with the relationship between Jason, Kimberly and Tommy. babclayman Well, I'm going to see it, at least it's not as dark as the R rated Fanfiction of the series. ^^

I know RPM was a bit dark but it had sharp writing and the Rangers looked like Rangers. This feels a bit CGI heavy in a bad way.

Kim and Tommy were in a romantic relationship indeed. Although, by the time the first Power Rangers movie came out in 1995, Jason was no longer on the team; he was replaced with Rocky by that point.

From what I hear, when it comes to which Power Ranger Films are Canon is...
The Frst Power Rangers Film is not Canon, but the Show did have to write in them heading to Australia, cause that's where they did the Film.
Turbo Film is Canon, as that sets up some pieces for the Turbo Season.
The Other Films, I think, are more Multi Part Episodes.
This one, seems to be an Altrnate Continuity or Universe (Like how RPM is set in another Universe).
With the Ranger Colours, many make note of how, in the Frst Season; You have Zck as the Black Ranger, and Trini as the Yellow Ranger. From what I hear, that was honestl unintentionl and they didn' realise what they had dne, with the Colours, untl Ten Episodes in. They did try to make sure they didn' do some thing similar to that, when it comes to future Rangers.
I also see, in some Trailrs, they do Show their Faces, when wearing the Helmts, which I think was a plan for the Frst Power Rangers Film.
Like I claim, I do some what concern about them trying to put a really dark Tone on the Film, but we shall see how it does, Eh?

How many movies are there exactly, bab? I know there was the original from 1995, and the Turbo one from 1997. Were there others aside from this upcoming one?

I don't see anywhere that Bulk and Skull would be appearing.
Though, wouldn't it have been a gas if on the 90s series the Rangers were the good kids and Bulk and Skull were the outcasts, but in the movie the Rangers are the outcasts and Bulk and Skull would have been the good kids?

It seems that the Film shall mx in elemnts of Multiple Seasons. It seems that, in the Film, Rita herself was the Green Ranger, and her plan is to get the Zeo Crystal to bring to Lord Zdd, so it's possible he shall be appearing.
I think, in one of the Erly Trailrs, we do see a Bully Character.
It can be possible, the Bully in the Trailr is either Bulk or Skull, Eh?

Belchic According from what I've read, Belchic, I believe someone in the company said they could see them doing five, six or seven films of the Power Rangers Series, but unless you're James Bond or any other popular film, then I don't see that happening and the company as I said before with the Fantastic Four film, they should wait and see how the first film goes before they begin pushing the envelope with more films. However I wasn't talking about the First Power Rangers Movie, Belchic, I was talking about the second one that was actually canon. babclayman If you're talking about the episodes that were edited together to make a movie, I don't really count those as movies.

Now that we have the movie, I thought the AVGN would take us back to their gaming history and there is:

I did see that vid. I had the Power Rangers game on the Sega Genesis. Probably the first fighting game I ever played. Not a bad game, but it's certainly no Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter.
I'm surprised James had never seen Power Rangers before considering I know how much he loves Japanese monster movies.
One question: Was this new Power Rangers movie a Michael Bay movie? It sure felt like one.
