I am looking up Production Pieces for; “101 Dalmatians”, and I think I foun some thing really surprising!
An Early Draft of the Script for the; “Animated” “101 Dalmatians”! o.o
Since, it is also the Fifty-Sixth Aniversary, of the; "Animated" "101 Dalmatians", this week, we can discuss it here, Eh!? ;3
There are some notable differences in it, but it’s more so additional scenes, than major changes in the Story.
The Story does have the Character points, which are seen in the "Animated" "101 Dalmatians", such as Pongo & Perdita being together, Roger is a Musician, Lucky is the one which Roger is able to help, when brn; and the Colonel's Feline Companion being Sgt. Tibbs.
Case in point being, there are more scenes from the “101 Dalmatians” “Novel” in it.
Such as the Roger, Anita & The Dalmatians heading to Cruella’s House, with the fire, the Carriage scene, where one canine asks Pongo & Perdita for their Paw Print; and Cruella’s Cat would have also appeared in the Film, too. It also claims that her name would have been; Felicia!
When the Puppies are born, Pongo would have been barking about it on the “Twilight Bark”.
And, one thing that really surprise me; in a scene, where it shows the Dalmatians, Roger, Anita & Nanny living in the Country (in the Devil Manor); Pongo, as the narrator, explains that he & Perdita have jst had another litter of Twelve!
So, in an erly drft of the; “Animated” “101 Dalmatians”…there would have been…One-Hundred-And-Thirteen Dalmatians! o.o
I assume some of the scenes were ct, in order to give the Film more focus, or for time in the Film too; though, Walt Disney & Dodie Smith did praise the “Animated” “101 Dalmatians” for how they were able to focus the Story.
You can read the Script here, some of the pages may be difficult to read, but it is surprising to see what the Film could have been like.
