As the sun extinguished with a small green glow; the sky turned into pitch black darkness with small white speckles appearing in the sky.
Things were quite quiet in the van on route to H.Q. The only sound being produced was the spark of a torch giving off light to the interior of the vehicle with an occasional bump in the road.
Kendra gave a couple of coughs every so often; just trying to bring an end to the silence she was waiting with.
Nearly half an hour passed before she just about had enough of it, Kendra spoke up.
“What made you join the resistance?” she asked, the silence continued for a few more seconds before Kit answered “I joined this movement because I figured it was the only way that things can go back to normal. I may die, It could even happen quicker if I surrender. But I’m willing to go all the way for it.”
Belchic joined in next “I’m hoping to save Lucky and the others from Sirius on that big ship up there.”
“I just didn’t want to be a slave.” Nuke sighed “Of course.” Kit said “We’re all in because it’s what we feel is right.”
“What about you Splendid?” Kendra turned her head to the driver, he remained silent for a minute or two before saying “Back in the old days, I use to assistant to Dr. Whittaker.” Kendra remembered Dr. Whittaker; she usually came round when it was time for the family to get their Administer shots, she even had to come twice in one day once after Lucky wasn’t careful at Hiccup Hole. Splendid continued “I was going to ask out to dinner the day Sirius took control…But unfortunately; she was part of the one seventh Sirius ordered to kill.”
Kendra nodded. “Love: One of the greatest reasons to do something.”
“What about you?” The vet then asked Kendra “Is there anyone?”
“There was someone…” she said as she closed her eyes, memories of Clayton and Doc appeared before her “…Long time ago.” She kept her eyes shut, her memories went even further back to a time before he even was a Dearly.

-“Alex, Stop that!”
-“Come on Kendra! lighten up!”
The Pauler pet shop was settled in a quiet street corner , somewhere in Stiffle, not many people went in there, so the place was jammed packed with animals that were needing of a good home.
Two of these occupants was a small female Dalmatian puppy named Kendra, and the other a young Golden Labrador that went by the name of Alex.
“So, what do you want to do Kendra?” Alex asked; tugging on the females’ ear, “Not now Alex!” she responded “I’m trying to sleep.” Alex just continued to try and get Kendra up. “Come on!” he continued “Why don’t we try break out this place and see life outside.”
Kendra got up and shook her head “No.” she said “We shouldn’t, and I’m pretty sure that there is nothing special for small pups like us out there.”
Alex’s face still kept his smile “There is a big world out there.” He said “I want to go have an adventure, not wait for someone to adopt me.”
“What’s wrong with getting adopted?” Kendra asked “A family that loves you, food, a room place to sleep…” she would have continued if it hadn’t been for Alex putting his paw over her mouth.
“Have you ever wanted to get more out of your life?” he enquired “Like being a police dog, or maybe one of those canine actors like Thunderbolt.” Kendra sighed as Alex went on “How are you going to get out of here anyway?” she asked, Alex raised his finger “Thunderbolt: Flaming Flea Circus.” He explained “I just do a tumble towards the gate and then on the way to freedom! Stand Back!”
He took a couple of steps to the back of the pen, focused his eyes to the lock and started to run, he then ducked his head down into a wheel like formation, but when he got to the end, he hit his head on gate…Nothing happened.
The lock didn’t budge, nor did the gate, Alex’s escape plan had failed, he had achieved nothing except a bump on the head.
Kendra just shook her head with a smile, approached the Labrador and gave him a small lick on the head (not romantically, just in a brother-sister way)
Alex just continued to smile and wagged his tail.
A few weeks passed in the store, Alex continued his escape plans (without my success) and Kendra went by and observed.
Everything went by as normal, until one stormy night; two strangers walked into the store.
One of them was tall and a skinny fellow with a slight crooked nose, the other one who accompanied him was a more smaller and bulgy character than the first. The taller one lifted his cap to the store clerk “Evening sir.” He said “Me and my brother here are interested in buying all your Dalmatian puppies…Little gift for a friend.”
The clerk nodded “I’ve only one sir.” He said, he removed himself from his chair and walked to the back of the store. He reached the pen Kendra and Alex were in and undid the lock, as he opened the gate; he reached down to pick Kendra up (who was asleep at the time)
“Kendra!” Alex shouted as he saw the clerk pick up Kendra, he barked loudly at the clerk; ordering him to let her go, but all the clerk heard was “Arf, Arf, rawf, woof!”
As the young female pup was carried away Alex continued to shout.
”Kendra! Kendra! Kendra…”
“Kendra? Kendra? Wake up.” Kendra opened her eyes, Kit was shaking her shoulder “We’re here.” He said, Kendra rubbed her eyes and got up. The torch had run out of battery and had gone out; she stretched a bit before stepping out of the vehicle.
As the dogs walked away from the van; Kendra stayed with the vet, she spent a minute or so saying something to him turned around and following the boys.
Splendid watched as Kendra walked away. He gave a small nod to her before pulling on the hand brake and driving away into the night.
Kendra looked upon the resistance base. It wasn’t all glamour, looked like an old run down warehouse that was decaying with the rest of the world around it; the window panes were all except in good condition and an orange rust was growing all around the metal panelling. “Not much.” Kit said “But its home.”
Kendra nodded and followed the group through a small opening in the wall.
“Hey ya’ll!” Belchic said as he reached the end of the tunnel leading to the base.
The interior of the base was much more welcome looking than the outside, the place sparkled with a silver like texture and the floor and wall panelling stood in perfect proportion. The only let down was that the place was as messy as a child’s bedroom; bits of clothing material drooped over the table and the floor was broken pieces of all sorts of stuff (Kendra was just about able avoid having some shape pieces sticking into her paw)
They weren’t the only canines in the building either. Up at the back, sat up against the wall were (unsurprisingly) two Dalmatians; one of them was male, his ears were both black and his collar shone with the colours of scarlet and blue. He had a strange (yet familiar) spot pattern on his back, but Kendra wasn’t to decipher it fully as most of it was pressed against the wall.
The one who he was sitting with was female, like the male; she had two black ears with an earring in the right one, on her cheek laid a small heart shaped spot and the lower half of her body was completely black with a couple of white heart spots.
“Two-Tone?” Kendra approached the female one and asked again “Is that you Two-Tone?”
“Two-Tone? No!” the heart spotted dog shook her head “She’s out on patrol. My name is Beyonca and this my brother…er…Lock Funoy.”
“Lock Funoy?” Kendra looked at the male dog confused “That’s a strange name.”
“Well people just call me Locks for short.” Lock shrugged “Better than my full name.” Kendra nodded to him in agreement.
All of a sudden, a quite active dog ran up to the group, this one looked familiar somehow; his features were almost identical to those of Patch except he was a little smaller than the Patch Kendra knew, another difference was the fact that his dog wore a normal collar instead of a rope and attached to this collar was a tag labelled Sip.
“This one was also called Patch.” Kit whispered to Kendra “But to avoid mistaken identity; we mainly call him Sip.”
“Did you get any?” Sip asked, giving a wag of his tail “Any what?” Kendra raised one of her eyebrows “Cookies!” The Patch duplicate answered.
“Sip!” Nuke rolled his eyes “Cookie manufacturing hasn’t been on for more than 3 years, and even if it was; every civilised building with at least one piece of machinery is guarded by those spheres. Put short…No! We’ve haven’t any bloody cookies.” Sip whimpered “No cookies?”
“Don’t mind him.” Kit continued whispering to Kendra “He really is quite intelligent, but after going four years without a single cookie did make him a bit less serious.”
Kendra then asked “Where’s your science advisor?” Kit nodded “I’ll show you.” He said.
He led Kendra down some small corridors of the base, the lights above flickered an orange glow as the dogs reached the small metallic door.
As they both looked at the door; Kit gave a chuckle. “Heh. You know, back in the old days, I use to have nightmares about this guy, but now when I see him in my dreams; he’s not the cause for it going wrong.
Kit then typed in something to a small key pad on the side of the door, it slid open and the canine duo stepped inside.
Beyond the door was a small dark office, upon each table laid racks of bottles and phials containing such liquids of all sorts of colours, some colours Kendra didn’t even though existed.
At the far end of the room, another Dalmatian sat at a desk, on his body there weren’t any distinctive features, but when it came on to his face; that’s where he really stood out.
Over each eye a most peculiar shape were present. On his right eye; there was a spot that was shaped like an O, while on his left eye, the other spot formed the shape of an X.
This dog was busy tinkering with an old battered television set which was flickering a snowy white screen.
“Tac?” Kit spoke to the canine.
“Out!” it responded, not even turning his head to look at them “Can’t you see I’m busy?”
“I’ve got someone here…” Kit continued addressing the dog “…Belchic sent forward a message…about Kendra Dearly.”
Tac rolled his eyes “She can be Pope Gregory IX for all I care, I’m still busy.” He gave a whack to the television “Oh d**n it!” he cursed.
“Televisions don’t work anymore.” Kendra alleged “There isn’t any signal.”
“I know that!” Tac said; still not turning to face them “But we’ve been told there’s going to be a transmission…from the big guy himself.” He gave one more whack of the telly before slamming his head down on the desk.
Suddenly; a pixelly black and white image appeared on the screen. Tac lifted his head up and gave a small grin of his teeth.
“Guys!” Kit called out the room “Something is ACTUALLY coming on the telly!”
The resistance members instantly came piling into the room and fixed their faces to the screen.
Sirius’s image appeared on the display. As the image jumped and flickered; he began to speak. “Now then, creatures of the Earth, please attend carefully.” He held something up in his paw and waved it in front of the camera, this object made Sip run up and press his paws against the screen, Sirius was holding a round biscuit which was covered with Chocolate chips “This…” Sirius quoted “Is Earth 5 years ago.”
“Cookie! Cookie! Cookie! Cookie!” Sip screamed; hoping that he would fall right into the screen and snatch the biscuit from Sirius’s grasp, he didn’t have much luck though.
Sirius continued “And this is the Earth today…” he tightened his grip on the cookie until is broke into hundreds of tiny little crumbs, Sip gave his hopes then.
“Now then.” Sirius started his proper speech “I’ve heard that down there; there have been stories going about. Stories about Kendra and the Dearly resistance, a group spreading hope…but let me ask you…how much hope does this dog have?” the alien hound then held the camera by both sides and turned it to the left.
In the new angle was an old wooden basket. It’s condition wasn’t what you would call perfect, small bits of twigs were lying about in piles on the floor around it and the wood was starting to show states of decay.
The occupant wasn’t what you would call new either but it did get Kendra’s attention.
The occupant was of Dalmatian breed, even though it should seem impossible; this dog had more wrinkles than Cruella without any makeup and around this hounds neck; was a long scarlet scarf.
“Now.” Sirius went on “This dog may look like something from the start of time, but…he’s not really that old. In fact, he’s not even half way through that silly “1 year = 7 dog years” life that you Stupid Little Humans think is a fact.”
He then pulled out his bronze coated weapon and grinned “But what if I do make look as old as the Universe? All how you humans would put it…” he paused for half a minute to think before resuming “…420 Trillion dog years of time, Let’s see what it looks like.”
Sirius then flicked the switch on his eliminator and shot it directly at Doc, the old canine screamed as Sirius met his target. All anyone could do was just watch.
As Doc continued screaming he started to crawl out of the basket, his scarf grew thread out of it’s sides before turning into a giant pile of yarn, and then to dust.
The screaming went on for two more minutes before Doc imploded into a small glowing ball, Sirius stopped along with the screaming.
Sirius stepped over to where Doc once screamed and looked down. At his feet wriggled a small dog round about the size as if it was just born. Like a grape; Doc had been swivelled up and reduced to something resembling a raisin.
Sirius then turned back to face the camera, as he approached it he growled “Received and understood…Miss Dearly.”
He then pressing a button on the side and the image turned back to snowy white.
The resistance members just continued to stare at the screen, not a single word went past their lips.
This silence was broken when Kit said to Kendra “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
Kendra on the other hand just smiled and said “The others are still alive…”
