Not a lot of hope is there? Furthering the irony is it seems like Pokémon: Detective Pikachu was praised for being a good movie first and franchise starter/brand cash-in second. This on the other hand? It just looked like a soulless toy commercial. If there's any good coming from this, it will probably tell Hollywood that art must come before cheap product. Here's the ultimatedisney.com review: www.dvdizzy.com/uglydolls-film.html

First of all, Detective Pikachu doesn’t belong in this conversation (unless you’re comparing its box office status or something).
Second of all, UglyDolls is not Disney! Nor is it Pixar! It’s not even BlueSky!
Well, anyway, it looks like the next one is going to be The Secret Life of Pets 2. Something tells me Mat is not going to like it very much. I’m guessing it’ll be one of those films that he will not enjoy very much but not bad enough to get his Seal of Garbage (like the My Little Pony movie).
I just looked up the release dates for Shaun the Sheep 2. It’s really all over the place, but it looks like every country will be getting it at some point during the last third of the year. The US will be one of the last countries to get it. Though it doesn’t look like it will be playing in Canada, so there’s a chance Mat will not be able to review it (unless it plays at a film festival or something).

I think Trey's point was comparing two Films, that are out at the same time, both with similar back grounds to them, and is explaining why one is doing good, while the other is not.
The fact the the Dolls Film was pushed forward, so it did not air at the same time as Detective Pikachu...while, at the same time, putting itself in direct competition with Avengers, and considering Avengers has made Two-BILLION in the span of Twelve Days...either way, it was not the best time to put the Dolls Film in Cinema. In a way, it kind of makes me think of the Chipmunks Film; The Road Chip, and airing it on the same day as Force Awakens!
Trey is still discussing about "Animated" Films, by bringing up why the Dolls film is having issues.
You understand what I mean, Belchic?

To be fair, Detective Pikachu itself can be considered animated because they didn’t use actual Pokémon to act.

You’re just making a mountain out of a molehill here.

I saw the final trailer For SLP2. Honestly, I don’t think this one will be as good as the original. It looks like this one is going to be more like Max, Gidget and Snowball each going off on their own individual adventures with no real main plot. That’s not going to prevent me from going to see it though. I’m considering going to the Fandango early showing of it, but I don’t know if I can. I was going to go see it on opening day, but I’m going to Disneyland to see Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge that night (and no, I can’t reschedule that; I have reservations).

As for the fact that The Secret Life of Pets 2 is next... well, it probably will have redeeming qualities (Harrison Ford in an animated film is a plus) but it's been said that Max was recast due to Louis C.K.'s sexual misconduct and that is an issue. And the story... well, for the uninitated, this was taken from Wikipedia: Max faces some major changes after his owner Katie gets married and now has a child named Liam, up to the point he becomes overprotective. On a family trip to the countryside, Max meets a farm dog named Rooster, and both attempt to overcome his fears.
Meanwhile, Gidget tries to rescue Max's favorite toy from a cat-packed apartment, and Snowball sets on a mission to free a white tiger named Hu from a circus. Not exactly inspiring confidence here. It sounds like a weak plot and the three listed stories don't seem to have much if anything to do with each other. I'll wait and see though.

I’ve decided to update my list again since we have a bunch of new dates as well as a couple new titles!
The Lego Movie 2 - Wasn’t demanding it. How to Train Your Dragon 3 - Go, Dreamworks, go! Wonder Park - Strangely, this intrigues me. Missing Link - Are we supposed to take this seriously? UglyDolls - The title says it all! Secret Life of Pets 2 - Yay! The pets are back! Toy Story 4 - Gonna be good! Wish Dragon - Maybe. Angry Birds 2 - Another one of these? No thanks. PAW Patrol: Ready Race Rescue - Another one of these? Eh...why not? Abominable - Now having serious doubts. Addams Family - We already have a ton of reboots of this! What more do you want? Frozen II - Disney, I love you, but why??? Playmobil Movie - Capitalization at its finest, folks. Shaun the Sheep: Farmaggedon - One was enough. Spies in Disguise - Pretty good chance it’ll suck.
That’s the info I got as of right now.

I believe you mean "Capitalism at its finest" not "Capitalization." Two different things.

I’m going to see Secret Life of Pets 2 today! I know what you’re thinking: “But it doesn’t come out for another two weeks!” True, but I’m going to see the Fandango Early Access Showing! Apparently Fandango has this new trend where they show movies two weeks before they’re released, and it’s a one-time-only deal per movie. I’ll let you guys know what I think of it after I get back without spoiling anything.

So I just got back from seeing the Secret Life of Pets 2, and it far exceeded my expectations. Those of you who have seen the first movie and plan on seeing the sequel...it’s better than the original! (Yes! I just said that!) Snowball is not as annoying as he was in the first one, and all the stories are very well-written and give the characters plenty of time to shine. So once the movie comes out, you all shouldn’t be disappointed. I don’t know how AniMatt will rank it; he’ll probably be harsh on it like he was on the original, but for me, I give it my Seal of Approval!

So, I did see The Secret Life of Pets 2.
My verdict? Well it was better than I thought it was going to be. Yes they had three unrelated stories but they did try to connect them all in the end. Kinda like the issue with Despicable Me 3.
Also, it didn't seem like there was any story that seemed to take presidence over the others.
It still needs to be said though... Max... sucks as a focus character.
Plus, I'm not buying the Shih Tzu as a sassy black chick?
I just still figured to just not take it too seriously and it worked that way.

Obviously Cellplex thinks this is the worst movie ever made. Should we all agree with her opinion?

I think that is a rather large exaggeration of what she actually says, Belchic. In her own words, she admits she has seen worse, it’s just an “Eh” Film to her.
But, why should we use one Video as the arbiter of what we all should think about the Film!?
