You know what Disney needs to do? Since they’ve been on a kick with making live action remakes of their animated classics, they should make another live action remake of 101 Dalmatians!
Now, I know what a lot of you are thinking. You’re probably going to say, “But Belchic, they already made a live action remake of that in 1996, and it’s already perfect to begin with!” Well, I am aware of that remake’s existence, but calling it “perfect” is more an opinion than a fact. Though I don’t see anything wrong with that. I’m not sure if you recall, but Disney already made a live action version of The Jungle Book back in 1994, and yet they still made another remake of it in 2016, and everyone was perfectly okay with it.
You’re probably also going to say, “But we already have Cruella coming out next year!” Well, first of all, that’s a prequel, which is not the same. Second, Disney is supposedly remaking Peter Pan as well as TWO spin-offs of it, so why not?
You’re probably also going to say, “Don’t you think we have enough retellings of this?” Well, if you’re perfectly okay with Disney making 20,000 different retellings of Treasure Island/Planet, then why not for this?
But anyway, in my vision, I want this live action remake of 101 Dalmatians to be more like the original classic. I don’t want it to be modernized and set in a modern day environment where they change many plot points or anything. I don’t want the humor to make it feel like Home Alone. And most importantly, I want the animals to talk. Which I know you’re all gonna say, “But Dalmatians are too difficult to train and blah blah blah!” Well, my solution to that: Make the dogs CG! Photorealistic animals seemed to work well in The Jungle Book and The Lion King, so the same can work just as well here! They might as well get the same director to work on it too. That’ll be pretty awesome actually.
So there you go. That’s what I think Disney needs to do. Maybe they’ll consider doing this if the Cruella movie does well. What do you pups think?
