Yes, I was planning for the causes to be science-related -- be it Sandy's science, Josh and Marisol devising something together, or something else. As long as the powers only have a loose basis (like what Lupus had said about one of Marilyn's powers being based on Daredevil, or for my own example, Odette and Bashful's powers are based on Mammoth Mutt from Krypto and Clancy from Ben 10, respectively), then I don't mind. Making a direct copy of an already existing superhero, such as what Raine has proposed with giving his characters the exact powers of Mileena, Spider-Man, and Hellfire, is not allowed. Raine Dearly -- To be perfectly honest, it comes across as somewhat lazy to me that you just decided to take the exact same powers from the exact same characters and slap them onto yours instead of trying to come up with something a little more original or not directly related to the character of their basis. I understand and appreciate that you like the characters you've picked from, but I see it as a little less fun if they're replicas of who they're based on, right down to their titles. @shadow -- Okay! This RP may not start for a little while yet, so you have plenty of time to think about it.

Good to see you guys are interested! @bab -- Yes, the rules are in my second post. Raine Dearly -- Um...as far as I can tell, each of the characters you've proposed are just a direct copy of the heroes and villain they're based on. ^^; And what exactly does "overpowered" mean?

It's mostly the copies of Green Lantern or Avengers characters that I was worried about, since I know certain members tend to do that. ^^' Marilyn being able to see through hearing and having the siren's song would be interesting, though -- and they would work really well together. I don't know if growth would work if she can't see where she's going or how big she's getting, though.
Weaknesses....definitely something pertaining to hearing loss (loud noises, thunderstorms) or impairing her movement could be effective.
As for Vlad's powers...the bat transformation is interesting, but how would the shadow powers work? Would he be able to blend in with shadows, or do something like turn into a shadow at will?

Now that I know at least two people are interested, here are some rules!
1. This is a first-gen RP. Pups and young adults (18-23 age range) will be allowed. No adults or excessively young characters will be allowed. Should we use villains, anyone participating in this RP may use up to three characters -- two heroes (a hero and a sidekick, or two independent heroes), and one villain. However, if we are not going to use villains and instead take an alternative route, then anyone participating may use up to two heroes (same conditions on that above).
2. Every character must have at least one superpower -- or at the very least, something that would define them as "super" (ex. Batman’s tool belt and various gadgets) or give them super abilities (ex. All of the Big Hero 6 protagonists have scientifically enhanced suits that grant them their powers).
2a. Flight does not count towards your superpower limit, regardless of whether or not your pup has another method of getting from point A to point B (such as by super-speed or by using a jet) or maneuvering in a fight. (I view flight not so much as a basic superpower, but an essential one, and one that should be available to all that are participating).
2b. You may have up to two other powers and two weaknesses per pup, but no powers that are either too powerful (anything doomsday related, anything that can automatically kill or revive another character, ect.), might make a character too godlike, or might restrict them rather than benefit them (such as age regression) are allowed. Furthermore, you may not give your pups any powers that allow you to godmod, unless you have permission from the player(s).
2c. When listing which characters you will be using and what powers and weaknesses they have, please specify if the power is something that comes in a general term (ex. What would "light powers" or "dark powers" consist of? How would they work?), or if the weakness might be something broad (ex. Weakened by minerals – but what kinds of minerals, and what are the effects?).
2d. To add onto the above: do not make a blatant copy of or use an already-existing superhero or their powers (ex. Using the Green Lantern Corps rings and powers, using Superman’s powers and kryptonite weakness, giving your characters the exact same powers as Spiderman, ect.), and try to pass it off as original. Also, do not have your character dress specifically as a pre-existing superhero, as I believe that takes the fun out of coming up with original powers and hero identities.
(It should go without saying that it’s one thing to have powers similar to an already-existing superhero, but if you dress your dog up as Iron Man, give them all of his gadgets and powers, and plop them in trying to pass them off as an original idea, that's not okay.)
3. Multiple plots at one time are allowed depending on what’s going on -- however, try to keep these in proportion with one another. Obviously, if a large group of pups are fighting one singular opposing force, they shouldn’t try and stray from the group – but if there are multiple crimes/villains to be dealt with at once, then your characters can break off into different groups and handle the situations. Paying attention is key to this RP’s success.
4. Don’t start any drama or make a huge scene that will cause the plot to stray from its course. Furthermore, don’t try and upstage anyone through powers, ego, or otherwise during the RP.
5. Don’t use your character as a mouthpiece for issues you might be having with the members you are addressing outside of the RP, or have them complain about characters played by other people not doing what you want them to do.
6. While I don't mind long posts at all (as I tend to be a long-post-writer myself), please make sure your posts are coherently written and grammatically correct enough that they can be understood. This means no lolspeak or foreign languages as your main way of communicating, unless it is being used within the context of the story and interpreted in some way.
7. This RP will have a post order.
--
If I come up with anything else, I'll add it -- but this is all I've got for now. In listing which characters you would like to play, please also be sure to list their powers, weaknesses, and hero name if you so desire for them to have one. I'll also update my first post with the post order.
Odette Hero Name: The Odd Ball Powers: Can fly. Can inflate herself to a round, ball-like size and shape, which allows her to roll and bounce around. The more she inflates herself, the bigger she gets. Weaknesses: Dangerous terrain (spikes, rough roads, ice, ect.) and flower pollen (can make her sneeze and deflate, causing her to fly around and crash into things).
Bashful Hero Name: Mariposa Powers: Can summon swarms of different insects and use them to her advantage, can create strong gusts of wind and fly with large butterfly wings that sprout from her back. Weaknesses: Water, rain, or any drastic change in climate or weather that makes the environment too cold or too hot (damages her wings and causes them to become inactive, hampers her ability to make wind, kills her swarms).
Bashful will be Odette's sidekick.

Mm... ^^; Though I like the idea -- I really do -- I was intending for the players to pick the powers that they want, rather than let someone else pick them. Like along the lines of Bab's super powers thread. If we pick them ourselves, it gives more freedom to it and ensures that the player will be happy with their choice, rather than have someone else give a player powers that the player may not like.
Science can definitely be the reason as to how they got them in the first place, be it Sandy's, Josh and Marisol's, or someone else's.

Hey everyone!
Although we've got the discussion going right now on another potential new RP, I've been wanting to get back into role-playing on here for some time now. But because all of the ongoing ones (especially "Hunt For Mt. Grutely") come across to me as either too plot-heavy or too far gone to try and jump in at this point, I figured I should set up a new one for us to try!
I don't know if this has been done before, but I've seen Bab in particular discuss this idea a couple of times in the past, as well as the thread in Other Character Discussion. I've always loved superheroes, and this could really be a fun thing to try out with you guys.
Though I don't have any myself at the moment, a group (or several smaller groups of) heroes vs. villains could be one way to do it. Another way to do it could simply be heroes working together to help clear up different perilous situations around the farm, Grutely, Topstown, and others. Or we could even come up with a third option all together! Much has the possibility to be done on this premise.
This RP will definitely be first gen. It also has the possibility to go either anthro or non-anthro, which I'm still on the fence about, but I think it would be much more interesting if we did it non-anthro.
I want to know who is interested in this before I post the rules, mostly because I'm still refining them. I will say this ahead of time, though: the character limit will differ if we decide to have super villains. If we decide to include villains, participants are allowed to use up to three characters (two heroes and one villain). However, if we don't decide to include villains, participants are only allowed to up to two hero characters.
Feel free to post which characters you'll be using, but don't post their powers just yet -- and definitely me know if you're interested in this!
Post Order: 1. Paws 2. Lupus 3. General 4. Raine 5. Bab 6. Shadow
