As I was reflecting on my Top 11 Nostalgic Cartoons list, I remembered what AniMat would do when he recounts his picks for the Best and Worst Animated Films of the Year: he'd give a brief synopsis on what we saw. His video description for the Best and Worst Animated Films of 2017 would read, as an example:
Now that we’ve done business with babies, texted our rage about emojis, played with a couple of Lego sets and made sweet music with some skeletons, it’s time to sort out which are the best and the worst of 2017!
I came up with my own brief summaries:
The 1980s
While we were eagerly anticipating Disney’s venture into television animation and televised adaptations of our favorite toylines, we would get to hear Top 40 hits by our favorite Chipmunk boy band, see infant Muppets become trendsetters, stop the supernatural from becoming a problem, flip-flop between domesticated pets and farm animals and start our new life in the town of Springfield while Reaganomics were in full force. TreyVore gives us his picks for the Top 11 Nostalgic Cartoons from the magical decade known as the 1980s.
The 1990s
Whether it was studying toon physics, playing with puppies, making icons out of video game characters and crudely drawn babies, meeting superheroes old and new or watching two lab mice repeatedly fail to take over the world, TreyVore gives us his picks for the Top 11 Nostalgic Cartoons of the 1990s, a memorable aspect of the decade where nothing’s happening.
The 2000s
The start of the New Millennium began on a very dark note. Fighting on our side in the War on Terror were superheroes, samurai warriors, giant transforming robots, teenage girls, imaginary friends, two kids and their secret agent pet platypus and a megalomaniacal alien with his robot companion. With them on our side could we defeat al-Qaeda?
They are also up on my DA account and will do one for the 2010s as well.
