Junior had better stand on it or he will go winless for the entire 2007 season.
But don't dispire Earnhardt fans, several drivers have gone into the last race of the season before and grabbed their first win of the season including... Mark Martin in 1991 Bobby Labonte in 1996 and Jerry Nadeau in 2000 (for his 1st and only win)

Here's some other things that we must bid farewell to this weekend...
The current race car. The downsized car NASCAR debuted in 1981 will make its final start on Sunday before yielding to the "Car of Tomorrow" cars for next year. These cars have around for so many great memories that it is really sad to see them go. Since they can't be used again here's hoping they put on a great finale on Sunday. Win or bring it home in a box!
Ricky Rudd, the tougher-than-steel NASCAR legend will strap into a race car for the last time on Sunday. In a career spaning from 1975 to 2007 Rudd has scored 23 victories. But maybe, just maybe, there could be a 24 in him on Sunday...
The Hendrick #25 team, this team will be back next year but as Dale Earnhardt Jr's new 88 car. Sunday is the last chapter in a history of Hendrick Motorsports that spans back to the mid 80s. The #25 car has scored 17 victories with drivers such as Tim Richmond, Kenny Schrader, Jerry Nadeau, and Casey Mears at the wheel since then. Other notable drivers like Ricky Craven, Jack Sprague, Wally Dallenbach Jr, and even Rick Hendrick himself have striped into the legendary metal steed.

Also, let's say our goodbyes to not one but two series sponsors...
Just when I finally got use to calling it NEXTEL Cup, the name changes again as next year it becomes the Sprint Cup. The NEXTEL era was short (it started in 2004) but the sport is radically different (in mostly negative ways) since it begin.
On an actual sad note, on Satuday we'll bid farewell to the Busch Series, a new sponsorship from Nationwide Insurance takes over NASCAR's #2 series next year. While it's name has been tweaked a few times over the years (originally it was the Budweiser Late Model Series and later the Busch Grand National Series) this circuit has always been sponsored by the beer company. It's sad to see them go but change is the only constant in life.

It's complicated but I'll explain
Kyle Busch, the current driver of the 5 car is fired, he's moving over to Joe Gibbs Racing.
Casey Mears, the current driver of the #25, is moving over to the #5 and will replace Busch. The #5 team will remain intact and keep its number, just having a new driver.
Dale Earnhardt Jr, will take over the wheel of what is now the #25 team. To better identify with Jr, the #25 team will change its number to #88. The team will remain the same but will receive a new number and new driver.
Dale Earnhardt Jr did test in the #5 car at Atlanta a few weeks ago but that was just to get him seat time in a Hendrick car, he will not run for that team in 2008.
