I've noticed that some people on this board remembered the show on Cartoon Network called Courage The Cowardly Dog. I myself remembered watching that show.
Some people around here may not have seen this show, so I'll give a quick explanation about it. It's about a pink dog named Courage, who lives with an old woman named Muriel and her husband, a grumpy farmer named Eustace Bagge. They all live in the middle of Nowhere. No, really, they live in a town called Nowhere, and it's in the state of Kansas. Creepy stuff happens in Nowhere, such as monsters, aliens, demons, curses, experiments, natural disasters--stuff like those. Although Courage is afraid of all those things, he has to face and overcome them, because it's up to him to save Muriel and Eustace from perils like those.
Now, the biggest complaint I have about this show is that everytime Courage gets pain inflicted on him, he just laughs about it. I mean, come on! Seriously? Why would anyone, let alone Courage, laugh when they're in pain? Is that done to make the show funny? I don't know about you, but I don't find it funny when someone's in pain! I mean, you just don't laugh at stuff like that! It's not even funny! *laughs* Okay, I'm back. I was laughing at the laugh that Courage did. I was not laughing at Courage getting hurt.
I've found a couple of videos where Courage laughs when he gets hurt. I'll just put them up here and show them off to everyone on this board. Here's one:
And here's another:
Well, that's all I'm gonna say about Courage The Cowardly Dog. If you have anything else to say about this show, then this is the thread to talk about it.

Heh, I remember this show. Was never allowed to watch it when I was little :<
My mom HATED me watching a lot of stuff on CN. Thought I was too young for it. In turn, I was pretty much limited to only watching Dexter's Lab and The Powerpuff Girls. Maybe a few others, but those were the only ones I remember.

Anyone who saw this show remember the episode where a tornado made Muriel a little girl at age three and a half? Well at one point of that episode, Muriel said, "I want an Easter egg! I want an Easter egg! I want an Easter egg!" while jumping on Eustace. The phrase "I want an Easter egg!" is a reference to an old Bugs Bunny cartoon called Easter Yeggs, where some bratty kid repeatedly say that phrase as Bugs helped the Easter rabbit deliver the Easter eggs.
Here's a video clip of the bratty kid saying "I want an Easter egg!" in Easter Yeggs.
And here's the full episode of Courage The Cowardly Dog where that phrase is being referenced in.

I used to watch Courage the Cowardly Dog all the time! I thought it was one of the wierdest cartoons on TV but I think that was what I liked about it.

That show was great! It's almost a darker and edger Scooby-Doo, I really liked this cartoon was so odd and different, rememberd me of old universal horror movies.
Great music, animation and storys I even felt scared sometimes when I was young ;D

I always enjoyed Courage the Cowardly Dog... and it's cool to see that Cartoon Network currently re-airs it times. Also for those that don't know CN released the 1st season of it on DVD last year July 20th, part of their CN Hall of Fame DVDs. I bought it shortly after it's release.

Arguably one of the more controversial eps of Courage was The Mask.
The story line was a masked feline known as Kitty moves into the farmhouse, Courage learns Kitty had a best friend named Bunny whom happens to be a rabbit, Kitty has a hate for dogs cause of Bunny's boyfriend Mad Dog whom happens to be a tough anthro doberman pincher and Courage sets off to reunite the two friends
now how is this controversial you may ask? It's a no brainer. Kitty and Bunny were deplicted as lesbians (how this episode got by the censors I don't know)

I was really fond of this show growing up and it still airs on CN in the form of reruns here. It's a nice mix of horror, comedy & surrealism while at the same time being aimed at children. The brilliant music, sparse dialogue, subtle humour & memorable voice casting made it a great show through and through.
It might be my nostalgia talking, but I remember this as a quite original show in it's storytelling at least considering it's intended audience. It is also nice in how Courage usually relied on outsmarting those who threatened his family or appealing to them with kindness and help instead of violence.
As for Courage getting hurt, it's a form of humor called slapstick. The same kind of humor that fuels Tom & Jerry and Roadrunner. Come to think about it, I'm actually not that much of a slapstick fan apart from these three shows.
Regarding "The Mask" episode TT addressed, Kitty and Bunny where really just described as being best friends, which in all likelyness was the case. Their rejoice upon being reunited is not so strange thinking about how both of their lives where threatened by Mad Dog who kept them apart. All though allusions where given like how the rat in the diner said Mad Dog didn't like the two "being so friendly-like." I remember seeing that episode when I was younger thinking of it as really touching. The show allways had those happy endings after all ^^
