Is anybody interested in checking out this upcoming movie? I found out a little more about it, and I must say, it looks...well, I don't really know what to say about it. The animation on Yogi and Boo-Boo does look a little disturbing (modern day CGI at it's finest ), but ignoring that fact, it actually looks pretty promising. Dan Akroyd is the voice of Yogi, and Justin Timberlake is the voice of Boo-Boo, but they both seem to do a really good job at capturing the voices of the characters. Not only that, but as far as writing goes, they seem to capture the essence of the original cartoon quite well. www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi737805849/Take a look at this trailer, and tell me what you think.

Uh.. wow..
Yeah, they did a real good job voicing the characters.
Though what I don't get is, why do all the classic shows have to be CGI movies now? Like Chipmunks, Scooby Doo, and Astroboy...

Nemo, a lot of people are interested in the past. There are people who grew up watching those old cartoons back when they were on. When they decide to make new movies with these old characters, it would be a good blast to the past for all those nostalgics.

It's also a good way to make money from a dead franchise. As much as i liked Yogi Bear when I was little...some things should stay nostalgic.

I just don't understand, to me if you wanted to keep something truly nostalgic then.. wouldn't you just be better off leaving it alone? Oo;

I really wanna see see this movie so badly Dan Ackroyd does a good job. But, JT to me sounds spot on to Boo Boo. I mean to me there is absoloutely no difference at all between the voice of Boo Boo in the old cartoons and this movie. It leads me to believe that he must have had some help with computers to make his voice sound like that. Much like they do for Alvin and the Chipmunks but different. I like Justin Timberlake but I really don't think he could sound so eerily similar to Boo Boo without the use of computers or something.
Anyway I can smell RT'S totally rotten review from here. Rotten Tomatoes really trashes movies like this it doesn't matter if it's Marmaduke, or Alvin and the Chipmunks, or Scooby Doo, or Rocky and Bullwinkle. That isn't gonna stop me but I wish RT would be a lot more fair to movies.
Can't wait till December.

Seen the trailer for it and it doesn't look too bad at all. May keep my eye out on this one....but of course I'll wait for the DVD....going to the cinemas is just too d*mn expensive nowadays....even on the cheapest day it's $10 a person >.<

Well I'd certainly like to see it. Two reasons: because it looks interesting, and because there was a boy in my class last year/cycle whom my friends and I nicknamed "Yogi"... and he has a lot of Yogi Bear-like qualities.
The movie DEFINITELY perks my interests =)

I think I'm going to spend my money at the theater on a ticket to "Unstoppable" instead. This looks juvenile in the worse way.

I have seen some trailers before and...
Well, I don't know. I mean, is the world ready to face Yogi Bear again? I mean if you don't count those two cartoon shorts that John Kricfalusi and his Spumco animation unit made in 1999, the last cartoon series (and he never did anything else until '99) that he appeared in was that embarassingly overhip Yo Yogi! cartoon on NBC back in 1991.
For the uninitated, this is the intro to that show:

For the uninitated, this is the intro to that show: Maybe that's why I've never seen or heard of it. I never watched NBC on Saturday mornings as a kid. I always stuck to good ol' ABC. Occassionally, I'd watch CBS. It always depended on what shows were on at the time.

I saw it a few weeks ago at our local theater with my dad and a friend. I found it to be okay and entertaining enough to watch, but not as good as I hoped, and not one I would love to own. Although I did enjoy some of the things that Yogi and Boo Boo did.
