Here is where we can discuss the hit cartoon series from 1983. I have been a fan since I was a kid. If you'd like to read more on my thoughts on this show, that's what my newest RetroJunk article was for and it was just approved! AWESOME Job Trey. As you may know I am not only a fan of the Live action movies but of this awesome show. I really wish the season DVD'S of this show would come out but I don't think it will.

Season sets of that show are unlikely to happen because of music rights issues. Many a show from the 80s has hit that snag (were it not the defining show OF the decade, I doubt Miami Vice would have gotten the time and effort they needed to go through to assure it did make) but Alvin unlike a lot of show's doesn't have the option of just muting the music they don't have the rights to. The fact it's aimed at kids probably doesn't help the case as random episode DVDs work fine in that area.
I must say that was a pretty good read Trey. I had no idea "Uncle Harry" got sidelined so early in the run although after reading that it seems like the character may have just run his course. In his last appearence he was trying to scam the Chippettes instead of the Chipmunks with the latter immediately recognizing his name and what he was up to once informed (Guess he couldn't fool them anymore).

I don't remember watching much of the orginial Chipmunks cartoon, but I used to watch some of the movies all of the time when I was little. My mom also had the Chipmunks Christmas album on casset and we used to listen to it a lot, so me and my mom are really big Chipmunks fans.

One of my favorite shows of all time. Good characters, awesome soundtrack and some interessiting episodes like Ship-Wreck, the Nightmare on Elm Street, the Uncle Harry ones...Alvin schemes...there's a lot to remember from the movies and from the series. I really liked the new movies in CGI, but they aren't match to the older cartoon movies and the series itself. It's a shame it didn't got a full DVD realease...

I don't know why that was but I hear now don't quote me on this but I hear from one source that they might be doing a new Alvin and the chipmunks show sometime in December early January. For those who don't know there's gonna be a Third and probably last installment of the Live Action movie series called "Chipwrecked" comes out December 17th 2011. And I hear that they might be doing a new show on it on TV sometime after the movie comes out. It's just a rumor right now but that's what I heard.

A new show for them would be nice. Though I think the speculation of a 3rd live action movie is true, since I've heard it from many 'munktards' (aka HUGE AatC fans) on dA.

Oh, yeah there is no doubt that the 3rd movie is happening. It's 100 percent coming out. What I had doubt in was that a new cartoon series starting at that time. I can't wait for that movie.

I hope the new Cartoon come out, of course if they stay with the 80/90s style that is way better than the actual incarnation of the Munks(Is okay though).
The third movie is confirmed to be in the theathers 2011 Hope it's a good use of 3D.

So a fourth movie is coming out this Christmas. Whoop-de-do. I also heard just yesterday that a brand new revamped Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon just premiered. It's CGI, and it looks awful. Although, something tells me Trey_Vore is going to love it.

Okay, I watched an episode of this new series on Nickelodeon while I was on the plane to Florida. And let me tell you...it is TERRIBLE!!! The Chipmunks and Chipettes don't look like Chipmunks in this one; heck, they don't even look like humans! They're basically hybrids! The plots are also not something I would expect out of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Also, I've always considered the Chipmunks and the Chippettes to be separate teams, but here, it seems like they're all one big team (which Trey likes to consider them as).
I still have a suspicion Trey is curious to try out this series since I know how much he loves revamps of his favorite 80's cartoons, plus I know he loves the current Ninja Turtles cartoon on Nickelodeon. Well, let me warn you, and this message goes out to anyone who is curious to check out this new show: IT IS HORRENDOUS!

Here goes: I can say I have more than a fair amount of the new Nickelodeon series stylized as Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks. And? Call me the opposite of Belchic but I don't think it's all that bad. It does seem like a combination of the classic 80s series with the live-action films with more in common with the 80s series. Say what you want about the live films but they did indeed resuscitate interest in the franchise and this series is a respectable update. I will say the digital animation is indeed lower than what was used for the live films but it's fine. The fact the characters are all voiced exactly like how they were in the 80s cartoon is a fun touch as well. It seems odd for me to say that but it does work here because this is supposed to be a cute and fun kids show; it's not like Teen Titans Go! where it feels it's done as part of an insult. I will also say I do miss the 80s songs they would sing and the new ones are forgettable but all in all I like the new series and think I will consider it a favorite.
