The 1964 Rankin/Bass classic that plays annually on CBS every Christmas has got to be one of the greatest Christmas films of all time.
I know this is kind of random talking about this, but I'm going to do kinda like what I did in the "Lion King" topic and talk about a possible cast for the film if it came out in the 80's:
John Denver as Sam the Snowman Gabriel Damon as Rudolf Paul Rubens as Hermey Jim Henson as Yukon Cornelius and the Boss Elf Mickey Rooney as Santa Claus Peter Cullen as King Moonracer Howie Mandell as Donner Helen Shaver as Mrs. Donner Don Adams as Comet Dom DeLuise as Charlie-In-The-Box Judith Barsi as the Misfit Doll Amy Green as Clarice Steve Whittmire as Fireball Additional Voices: Leonard Nemoy, Frank Welker, Cree Summer, Jim Cummings, Casey Kasem, Will Ryan, John Candy, Rick Morranis, Dan Akroyd
What do you think of that cast?

Something I might also add to what I said up there: I think it's likely that if it did come out in the 80's, Will Vinton would be in charge of the animation.
