I was one of the first people on the planet to see that! Yep, they showed it at D23! It was so amazing! Not only in 3D, but just the fact that I was watching it on a big screen with hundreds of other hardcore Lion King fans! To me, that was the best part of D23!

Ah, so I'm assuming they're just putting it in 3D? I'm not /that/ big of a fan when it comes to watching 3D films (the glasses hurt my eyes after awhile!), but I'm sure the experience of watching a Disney classic like TLK on the big screen with other Disney fans is a great experience! If I could afford it right now, I'd probably go and see it; but for now, I suppose a Disney marathon at my house will have to suffice.
Thinking back to the movie though, I can already picture a lot of scenes in my mind that probably really pop out thanks to the 3D. I'm sure a 3D elephant graveyard would have scared me half to death as a kid. x'D

I've seen the bloopers of this. Maybe if I get some time I'll go see it.

Am I the only one who wonders why its in 3D? It's a 1990s cel animated film, how much better would it look in 3D?

You & Me, Three, Race & Boeing. ^^; Can't really see, why it needed a 3D release, it's not like "The Narrative would work better, if you saw the depth in 3D."
I remember, I went to see, Toy Story I in 3D during 2009, Me & My Sister agreed, it didn't really look any different. The only time it felt 3Dish, was when Woody was pointing to Buzz.
I think it's like what they did when releasing, Morning Report Song, on DVD, It wasn't needed, however most likely added to boost sales. ^^;
That's my opinion though.
Although, Best ask, Belchic. Did the fact, it was in 3D, Effect the Movie in any way? Or was it just, I'm okay for just seeing the movie on screen? ^^;

To answer your question, bab, yes. It made the movie look a lot more awesome! You can clearly see the layers where the characters and objects are supposed to be. I should also let you know that making a 17-year-old movie 3D was not an easy task, but they managed to pull it off! Also, the reason they did it was for the sake of the geeks.

I for one...will miss this one
I for one saw the movie a long time ago, don't have a reason to see it again, and to see it in 3D? Ruining a good Disney movie. Why couldn't they have left The Lion King as it was, a NON-3D movie?
You know what else? Who knows, Maybe Disney will decide to make a 101 Dalmatians III(just saying), but instead of releasing it as a traditional cel animation movie, it would be released as a 3D movie.
Now I don't have any problems with 3D films, I just think that already made films should be left as it is, a non 3D film.
