Anybody here ever heard of SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Acts)? It's an obstructive bill that could destroy freedom on the internet. It's been knocked back a few times, but now it's threatening to make a comeback. If it passes, all fanart, fanfiction and fan-made videos could be considered "piracy" and removed. Click here to sign the petition against it: petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/stop-sopa-2014/q0Vkk0Zr

Well, it's true! And SOPA was shelved, wasn't defeated for good. They put it on hiatus for a moment like this. So if this passes, which I HOPE it won't, any website that has "pirated" stuff, could be shut down.

Like before, I doubt anything will come of this. I mean...How long has this SOPA thing been going on for, the fields it makes are just too ridiculous, it's pretty much made it illegal to exsist.
And like before, the Politicians will vote against it. I know another method to sort this too.
Can't you vote those proposing the Bill out of Office?

I hope you're right, Bab, I hate to see websites like this along with FanArt and FanFic's go.

Hey, guys, I just looked at the petition again, and the goal of 100,000 signatures has been reached. There are now hundreds more signatures than the needed 100,000 on the petition.

So wait. Are you saying the petition won? Or is SOPA still battling to censor the Internet?

When a goal for a petition is reached, it should win. The same thing happened at Disney Screencaps.com some time ago. Nothing extra has been said about SOPA after the goal for the petition was reached yet.

Well, I heard that SOPA was rebranded as Notice and Staydown and would try to be enacted with the help of the Trans Pacific Partnership.

Months ago, Disney Antipiracy banned Disney Screencaps.com from displaying screencaps of Disney movies. A petition to get the ban lifted was set up, and 5,000 signatures were needed. Not too long ago, the ban was lifted before the 5,000 signature goal was reached.
