That's it, Dolly's name from here on out is Amethyst. None of you can change my mind. She will solely be addressed as Amethyst by myself.

Guess what? I just discovered that somebody just uploaded the first episode, “Dog’s Best Friend” on YouTube! Fortunately, it wasn’t blocked in my country, so I got the opportunity to watch it!
All I gotta say is...yeah...it really is something. It’s a very crazy and fast-paced show. As of right now, I’m not sure what to make of it. Maybe I just need to see more episodes to get a better impression on it.
Are there other episodes out now too?

There is the; “Merry Pups” Short, That Disney have posted up, Belchic! You can find it on the Disney Channel U K Channel.
I Know; Boom Night has aired in Europe, but not yet in English.
I did hear some thing, about the Cast, too. It seems that Raheal Remos Shall be the voice of D J, but I can not find a source to confirm this. We shall see when an Episode with him airs, Eh!?

I didn't like the first episode much. There wasn't much of a plot and the episode seemed to revolve around one joke. In fact, I can't really say much good about it. If I were to judge it by the standards of the original show, it would be one of the lower ranking episodes. That isn't to say it was horrible or that other episodes won't be better. I just don't think it was a good idea to dedicate a whole episode to "Dogs think humans are the pets *Nudge nudge*" As for the casting, I wasn't a fan of the weird mix of British and American voice actors. It seems really weird. You don't really get much of a sense that the show is set in England when half the voice actors, and indeed the most important ones are American. For the animation, I found it to be well below the original show. It's really just following a Disney trend overall of cheaper, lower quality animation. Disney's animation has really gone down hill since the 90's. Even just looking at various shorts and the new Ducktales. Character designs are even more simplistic, backgrounds are far more simplistic. It's really not what you would expect from the studio that set the standard for TV animation in the 90's. The theme song... I hate it. Even the original series theme song was better. Okay. Now that was a long bout of negativity.... What good can I say about it? The characters aren't terrible. I didn't get much information about them in the first episode, but I did get a sense of their personalities. I can tell Dillon is the somewhat nerdy responsible older brother, and his sister Dolly is the fun loving slacker type of character. It sets a good contrast between future episodes. I can see them each using their strengths to solve problems. Well, there is POTENTIAL here for it to not suck. I really can't make a judgement either way based on this episode. So far I give the first episode 4/10 for the lackluster writing. If in future episodes they have more complex plots, or at least better jokes, and develop the characters more and let them play off each other, it could be pretty good. That remains to be seen though. If anyone HASN'T seen the first episode. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSECXcxqCJI

Ooooooooh, It is good to see that "Boom Night" has aired in English! I assume, it aired in a Country in Europe, but in English. They are VERY good at English, in Europe!
I am liking this Episode, as it allows to see more of Dolly & Dylan's Personalities. Like, it shows Dolly as the more daring type, as well as Dylan's protectiveness and love of space things. Dorothy is shown to love to gnaw on things, such as the sticks and what surrounds her basket. It also shows more of the rivalry between Dolly & Dylan, too.
I just noticed, when the Fox was talking about the Pool Party, that the Fox is actually Irish! I am actually now curious who voices the Fox. I am also hearing that his name is Fergus, which would make sense for both the Alliteration names and the Irish Accent!
The Chase Scene also shows that they shall definately try to be Artistic, with the Show, too.
Still, It be a good Episode, and I look forward when more Episodes air.
I hear we got some upcoming Episodes called; "Power To The Pups", which I assume is when Disel runs in the Top Dog Election. There is also an Episode called; "Who The Dog Do You Think You Are!?".
I may have refered to this before, but you can also see why there is a Scene in "Boom Night", that reminds me of the Hang Over, Pups?

That episode was a bit better than the first one. The plot was a bit more complex, though somehow it felt rushed and padded at the same time. They sort of rushed from plot point to plot point yet it doesn't feel like much happened in the episode... Perhaps it was the time they spent on the bad jokes that just made it feel like it dragged some. Cause humor that isn't funny is actually empty useless space in a plot...
The humor... Once again falls short. I have a feeling this is going to be the weakest part of the show. The martian joke was... kind of cringey. The part where Dillan argues with himself before leaving the house was also almost painfully unfunny.... The fetching joke was... almost like something they wrote as a place holder with the intention of writing a better joke later and never got to it. The.... Humor, is just... not good. This show needs some better comedic writers.
Dolly's delivery when she got scared and thought that boom night was starting, kind of sucked. I think maybe the actress isn't used doing that type of emotion.... Or maybe it was just a bad delivery. Still. The accents were once again a problem because the ones that were supposed to be English, felt REALLY forced. It's pretty obvious that they're Americans doing fake English accents. I'm sure someone who isn't as familiar with real English accents wouldn't mind it, but I really think they should either go full British or full American... Or get some better voice actors. =P
What does this episode have going for it?
Well, the plot as I said was a bit more complex. This time there were actual emotional stakes in the episode. The baby pup escaped and clearly Dillan has to get her back. That's good, it's better than the first one. It doesn't tell us a whole lot about the characters though. Needing to get a baby back is a very generic motivation. It doesn't really tell you all that much about the characters. I'm really glad they didn't go to the old cliche "have to get the baby but the baby keeps miraculously escaping injury while the one trying to get it gets hurt." plot. If they did that in 2018, I would have no hope for the show. =P No, instead they went for a perfectly reasonable plot.
The characters, once again the strongest part. Dolly is adorable and I rather like the sarcastic fun loving attitude... (Considering I created Sandy I guess that's to be expected. =P) Dillan and Dolly work well together. Dillan could be good if they could write but they need to write better jokes for him.... I think the show however would be best if they could keep Dillan and Dolly together more. I think my favorite parts of the episode were when they were actually together and interacting. Maybe what held the episode back was that they were apart or not interacting for 2/3 of the episode.
I would give it a 5/10 for this episode. It's still unclear whether the show overall will be any good. The problems I'm seeing aren't really insurmountable. They can be corrected simply by either getting new writers or the current writers and actors settling into their roles. Then these first two episodes may simply be flukes as well. The should could dramatically, and suddenly improve. I also think a way to improve would be to increase the episode length to 22 minutes maybe. Also maybe including some more character conflict. The first two episodes are probably held back by the lack of character conflict. The first episode... there wasn't really much conflict at all. They had a really dumb human in their house and we just watched him mess things up until they decided to get rid of him as quickly as they got him. The second episode had a better conflict, but it was still a rather generic conflict. Anyone can understand why he needs to get the bayby pup back, it doesn't really tell us anything about the characters, though, that will allow the audience to build a connection with them. I would like to see more character specific conflicts and less generic stuff like this. They may yet do that. We will see. if they do, it could be pretty good.

Sandy, you know the original 90s series was pretty bad as well, right? I honestly like this better.

And... which characters do you accuse of having fake British accents? Because the show is made in the UK. Their mom, Delilah, is voiced by a British actor. Some characters, like Dolly and Dylan, were cast out of the United States, but most of the characters are cast from the UK. You can check the credits.

And the human in the first episode. I mean if that's a real British accent then it's clearly one putting on a voice. As for your opinion on the original show, yes the original show was pretty mediocre. These episodes would be lower ranking ones even for that show. Well, the first episode would be. The second episode would probably be a middle ground episode for the original show. Anyway their relation to the quality of the original show isn't that important. These episodes are pretty bad just on their own. As episodes of animated shows, they're not really very good.

You're free to think they're not good. I'm free to think you're wrong. I think the voice acting is fine. I like the fox. I thought Dolly's whimpering when she thought Boom Night was starting was well delivered. The show has some of the best character designs I've seen in quite some time, particularly Dolly's, and I'm fond of the aesthetics.
Maybe you should stop being so cynical and just enjoy a d**n cartoon.
