Yet another video game movie is coming this year. It's like this:
How do you turn something this into a movie that people will pay to see? Well clearly they can't just show the game characters wrecking buildings for 90 minutes and that's it; there is going to be some plot exposition necessary so we will get:
80s junkie I am I will go and see it. Also being a fan of the Rock has credo; it can't be worse than Baywatch.

I did get to see Rampage last weekend and honestly it was a lot of fun. To be honest it is the kind of movie that Pacific Rim: Uprising wanted to be and what Tomb Raider should have been. It's not supposed to be art it's just a big dumb popcorn movie. Movies based on video games kinda have to be a bit self-aware and honest and that's what it is. It may not have the best critical scores but it's Rotten Tomatoes score indicates that as of this typing it's critically the best video game-movie ever made. editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/video-game-movies-ranked-worst-to-best/To turn a profit the movie needs $400 million but seeing as it was pushed up one week (to avoid heavier competition from Avengers: Infinity War) that was a smart move. It was the #1 movie at the box-office in its opening weekend. I did hear Brad Peyton say if they do a sequel the rat will be involved and his name will be Larry. Some questioned if that was a nod to the character from the Atari Lynx game.

I actually watched it and, in spite of my tendacy to hate post 2010 movies.... This one didn't bother me much. The first thing I noticed was the CGI gorillas looked really cheap and at that point I was expecting a pretty bad movie but it ended up being surprisingly decent. It never took itself too seriously and set a tone where you were just willing to accept the stupidity for the sake of enjoying a silly movie. There were a few cringey parts, like when the characters themselves would comment on parts of the writing, but aside from that, not bad. It was what it was, I guess. The fact that it never took itself too seriously saved it from a lot of potential cringe that could have ruined it.

I did read this on Wikipedia:
In July 2017, Dwayne Johnson discussed the potential for a sequel and offered an appearance role to Mike Matei. By April 2018, director Brady Peyton stated that he was open to returning as director for a potential sequel, while confirming that a concept for the project's story is mapped out. Johnson referred to his repeated works with Peyton as his director, stating that he enjoys working with the filmmaker from a creative standpoint and looks forward to future collaborations. Reports from insiders later stated that a sequel is indeed in development, with some stating that Johnson intends to complete a trilogy of films.
So we may get to see more Rampage films, and I like that.
I think it would be a gas if they tried to incorporate something like the intro for Rampage: Universal Tour into a sequel:

I really do hope that happens, I've been looking for more info, but all I could find was a lawsuit. But I've heard that they wanted to use a mouse and name him after the monster from the Arcade Game.
