We can take solace in knowing that Sony Pictures Animation intended this to be the final movie in the franchise. Besides, their more recent movies have proved they can do much better, with movies like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Mitchells vs. the Machines and Vivo all proving they can do solid animated movies. This is like they just chose to put Hotel Transylvania to rest. In my opinion, I don’t think I’ll ever see them make anything as memorable as The Star.

I am looking forward to the next Spider-Verse Film.
From what I have seen, we shall have Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099, and I hear they shall be bringing back the Spider-Man from the Japanese Show from the Seventies, with his original performer, too! You hear on that one?

Recently we got the newest Ice Age movie as a Disney+ exclusive. That movie is The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. As you probably expected, the reviews are generally bad. How bad? Well, while the earlier movies were at least tolerable, this one might actually be the worst one yet. Its current RT score is 23% from critics. Audiences say? 18%. Why exactly? Let me count the ways: 1) It's a Disney+ exclusive, so no Blue Sky this time around 2) Only Simon Pegg comes back to voice Buck, none of the other VAs return 3) The animation looks weaker 4) The jokes aren't funny 5) The lessons learned are recycled 6) No Scrat! That's right, NO! SCRAT!!I have to say, AniMat's review should be most entertaining.

It's not over. Apparently Disney+ is going to give us a 7th Ice Age and a 3rd Rio.
It's official. Disney is graverobbing Blue Sky!

I’m not too surprised with AniMatt’s scores:
Story: 3/10 Animation: 3/10 Characters: 4/10
Overall: 3/10 = 33%
We are definitely off to a bad start this year!

This was the scores he gave Ice Age: Collision Course: Story: 2/10 Animation: 6/10 Characters: 2/10 Pooled together it's about the same score. Just under Disney the story and characters got better while the animation clearly suffered. I did read this though, through one of AniMat's commenters: I would say it sucks that Scrat was absent from this film, but what’s interesting to hear was that Ivy Supersonic was the original designer of the character which she called “SQRAT”, a squirrel/rat hybrid, which Blue Sky had claimed. So recently, she won a lawsuit against 20th Century Studios claiming back the rights to her character. This reminds me of the Simpsons episode “The Day the Violence Died” where Chester J. Lampwick (Kirk Douglas) claimed to be the original designer for the character Itchy. So he sued Itchy and Scratchy CEO Roger Meyers Jr. (Alex Rocco), and wins claiming $800 billion. So I guess this is another thing The Simpsons writers predicted perhaps inadvertently! With this quality, did Disney even need to shut down Blue Sky?

I gotta admit that "screaming possum" bit was pretty funny.

I'm a little concerned about the Mario movie. It's supposed to come out this year, but we don't know exactly when. Some sources say it's coming out on Christmas, but IMDb says it's coming out in September. Also, we don't even have a title for the movie yet. Something tells me it's not going to come out this year at all.

Tomorrow, we will get to see the newest Pixar movie, Turning Red.
It looks really good, with a RT score of about 95%. The critics are saying:
Heartwarming, humorous, beautifully animated, and culturally expansive, Turning Red extends Pixar's long list of family-friendly triumphs.
I like this news!
Side note is, the movie is called Turning Red; ironically, Disney won't be distributing this movie to the U.S.S.R.! XD

I’ll be watching it this weekend, but I’m still unsure about it. Though I’m sure this is probably just Pixar’s appetizer before the main course…

I did see Turning Red over the weekend and I thought it was really good.
I won't say it is on par with Pixar when they were at their height in the 2000s but it's worth watching.
