Here is what AniMat says about Turning Red:
Story: 7/10 Animation: 10/10 Characters: 9/10
Overall: 9/10 = 87%
Why am I not surprised it got his SEAL OF APPROVAL? Though it looks like he gave it the exact same score he gave Luca. So now, here's where his rankings stand:
1. Turning Red - 87% 2. Hotel Transylvannia: Transformania - 33% 3. Ice Age: The Adventures of Buck Wild - 33%

I can't really blame him for scoring both Hotel Transylvania 4 and Ice Age: Buck Wild a 33%, they just aren't the same anymore.
But it's good to hear that both Luca and Turning Red got a higher score. ^^

Well I wouldn't say it was THAT good but I was happy with the movie.
Turning Red should be seen as a contender for one of the Best Animated Features of 2022 next year.

While watching Sonic the Hedgehog, almost all the trailers I saw were for animated films! One of which really surprised me! It looks like Blazing Samurai is going to be happening after all! It’s coming out this July! Only it’s going by a different title: Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank.

I am hoping this will be good!

I just fail to see what everybody sees in that movie. It’s got a huge fan base already even before it’s been released!

I just fail to see what everybody sees in that movie. It’s got a huge fan base already even before it’s been released! It's based on a book series that sold very well and whose popularity has been supercharged by the movie's existence so it does have some existing fanbase. The furries are getting into it which is a help but probably not a mega-sized boost if we are honest. BUT there is a big marketing push behind it and the film is also already out in several markets, reviews are good, and word of mouth is building that it's a good film. I think a lot of it probably has to due with it being a heist film for the whole family. People love heist films (Ocean's Eleven, Inception, both The Italian Job flicks, Heat, etc.) and with this one the filmmakers went out of their way to have some fun with the idea this might be the first film in the genre that a lot of their audience ever sees. It's a unique concept. I will say that I'm digging their muscle car. It's stylized but that is clearly a black first generation 1967-1969 Chevrolet Camaro (with a bit of a body kit) and the animators know their stuff. Look close, they even put old school tape "X" markings on the headlights (in real life that's to hold the glass together in case you crashed so it was mostly for motorsports or guys who took their cars to track days).

People love heist films, you say? Well, the Nut Job was a heist movie, and everybody hated it.

People love heist films, you say? Well, the Nut Job was a heist movie, and everybody hated it. Maybe because in addition to being dark, mean-spirited and not terribly smart The Nut Job was not a good movie.

Maybe you give it a chance, Belchic. I've had thought I would have loved movies only to be disappointed and thought I would hate a movie to wind up liking it.
They seem like they did well with Captain Underpants and that was based on a series of children's books. Maybe they can do it again here.

The Boss Baby is also based on a book series, but that film got mixed reactions.

Well one way or another reviews are coming in and The Bad Guys looks GREAT! Its RT score is currently at 93% and the critics' consensus is:
Fast-paced, funny, and full of colorful visual appeal, The Bad Guys is good news for audiences seeking options the whole family can enjoy.
Looks like we have a great one coming!

I still don't see what makes it so great. From what I saw in the trailers, the humor looks extremely low brow, and the characters are just not very likable.
In other news, I'm starting to have doubts we are even going to be getting the Mario movie this year. So far, I haven't seen any trailers for it. Not even a teaser trailer. Not even a fanmade fake trailer! Something tells me it's going to be postponed indefinitely.
