Hey, Huntsman. What made you come back? Nothing in particular; there just aren’t many places where you can actually discuss the series. Unfortunately, most people here don’t talk about the show anymore. I’m hoping that can change.

One of my favorite scenes regarding Cadpig is what I’m using for an avatar. She looked downright adorable as a “Biker Chick”, and the leather jacket suits her well. I can’t recall the outfits she wore in a few other episodes, since it’s been ages since I’ve seen them, but this one was definitely the cutest.

One of my favorite Cadpig moments of the series would have to have been in "Leisure Lawsuit" where she tried to cheer Lucky up after he had that accident with Cruella.

From reading the book, I've discovered that Dodie Smith's depiction of Cadpig has a few differences than the Cadpig in the series.
In the book, Cadpig is obsessed with TV, but in the series, that became Lucky's obsession.
Like in the series, according to Dodie Smith's depiction, Cadpig is the smallest and the youngest of the pups, but according to the book, she is also the weakest of the pups. We all know by watching the series that Cadpig has incredible strength, but according to the book, she has like no strength whatsoever. I wonder what made the writers decide to give Cadpig a lot of muscle power in the series.

For the last time, I am not talking about the series having different writers or the laws of physics applying in cartoons! What I'm saying is that the writers of the series tried to make Lucky, Cadpig and Rolly be as close to Dodie Smith's depiction of the characters. They butchered Cadpig giving her the ability to lift Lucky without consequence since Dodie Smith (the author of the BOOK) was intending to have Cadpig be a weakling.

Disney always "twist" the characters when they base something loosely from a book....
And who cares about that ? They´ve done it for ages.
You think kids want to see a sad pup getting dragged around in a toy carriage because she is SO weak ? LOL, like that would work in the middle of the 1990s & fit the concept of the other characters ?
101 Dalmatians by Dodie Smith is a rather sad story, and if you wanna base a show completely of the book, it would be a VERY sad show. And it wouldnt work for a 25 min kids show.
The book was published in 1956. Some things back then wouldnt simply work on "today TV screen"
So they took some of the things & simply added some more. Like they useally do.

To follow up on what Mixer said, think about this...
"Keeping in line with Dodie Smith's book, Cadpig is an extremely weak pup that can't really help do anything and depends on her big strong brothers to save her whenever she is in danger."
Do you think parental watchdogs and miliant feminists would think very highly of that? Cadpig wouldn't be much of an idealistic '90s girl. And the original story is rather sad, as Mixer says. No one wants to watch a kid-friendly cartoon where one of the main characters is a total emo and needs constant aid. What sounds better to you, changing Cadpig's story so that she can hold her own, or staying faithful to the book and making her weak and completely dependant? If her story was changed from the book, the series would be as it is now. If the latter was the case, Disney would have been better off leaving her out of the show. I don't think kids want to see a cartoon character acting as if they are hovering near death in every episode. Not to mention, there's not a lot of comedy in the concept of death...unless your intent is black comedy.
Do you ever wonder why, when people are watching "The Simpsons", they never want to see an episode that's about Lisa? And you were wondering why Spongebob Squarepants is so popular....I think I may have found a reason why.

Well, I'm not saying that I want her to be weak. Just thought I'd point that out. In fact, I love the fact that the writers decided to make her strong. I'm sure most of you know that already. I believe her dramatic personality comes close to Dodie's character as well as her size and age.
