Yeah, Cloudy got the garbage seal too.
I seen the Frozen Trailer. Why do I get the feeing that Snowman will annoy me and ruin the mood of some scenes? And is it me or does a horse in that trailer look like Maximus from Tangled?

Well, we just got the Thanksgiving animated film Free Birds.
...it's not looking so good. On Rotten Tomatoes it has a current score of 22%.
Man this has been one bad year for animated films. All that is left now is Frozen, and I'm seriously hoping that will at least end this year on a good note.

New trailer for Mr. Peabody and Sherman was released about a week ago, and I must say, I've really changed my tune on this one. Maybe it's just the interest I've gagued in animation history as of late, or maybe it's the more in-depth trailer, but I'm rather excited for this one. Plus, my dad was a fan of the original Rocky and Bullwinkle show and my sister seems pretty on-board with this one too, so I might go see it when it comes out.

That kinda sucks, Trey. I thought "Free Birds" looked like a pretty funny film. As for "Frozen", I'm still super excited about it. I've seen enough trailers of it to know what it's about. The animation looks awesome, the action looks epic, the humor looks funny and tolerable, and the plot seems original.

I admit to have had an awkward feeling about 'Free Birds'. The plot is ridiculous. "Turkey's Time Travel to prevent the First Thanksgiving".
It does sound like the type of Film that a Comedy Show would have as a Joke!
I notice the Greek in Peabody is voiced by Kronk there. Although, is it really needed to add a love interest for Sherman?
Here's hoping that Frozen is good, Eh?

Surprised to hear that coming from you, bab. I mean, you're a Doctor Who fan, so time travel sounds like your kind of thing. I'm still making plans for the best and worst animated films of this year.

Just because I am a fan of a show that features Time Travel, doesn’t mean everything that features Time Travel gets an automatic seal of approval. It be like if you give Garbage Pale Kids approval because they disguise themselves in Trench Coats and Fedora’s.
What’s the list for 2014, at the moment?

It be like if you give Garbage Pale Kids approval because they disguise themselves in Trench Coats and Fedora’s. Even though that's what you all think about me. Even so, what good is trench coat usage to my taste if they're not on shoulders? Not that I would want to see the Garbage Pail Kids do that since the movie sucked big time. But I digress. Let's get back on topic... I think I'm going to start a new topic on that.

It happened. AniMat reviewed Free Birds. blip.tv/animation-lookback/animat-s-reviews-free-birds-6687080For him it's another disappointment. I'm also going to say... for the 10 animated films released this year... Escape From Planet Earth, Planes and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 all got his Seal of Garbage... and Free Birds is now the fourth animated film this year to get that hated seal. He even ends his review BEGGING Disney for Frozen to be good!

What were his ratings on it?

What were his ratings on it? He said: The Story: 4/10 The Animation: 3/10 The Characters: 6/10 Free Birds (2013): 4/10 - Poor! He does say this movie was SO close to avoiding the Seal of Garbage. But what he says is: You think the idea of time-traveling turkeys is ridiculous? Well, he doesn't say what it is, but... the movie is nearly RUINED by the ending.

Of the three animated films I've seen this year, according to AniMatt...
The Croods was good.
Despicable Me 2 was fantastic.
Equestria Girls he had no comment on.
As for the rest...
Escape from Planet Earth was terrible.
Epic was great.
Monsters U and Turbo were mediocre.
Planes, Coludy 2 and Free Birds were all horrible.
So yeah, Frozen had better be worth the wait! Though I'd love to see how Matt ranks the Top 5 worst, seeing that 4 of them got his Seal of Garbage. Also, seeing that there were only 4 that he really liked (hopefully Frozen will be included in that 4), what would be filling in the #5 spot? I'm sure Equestria Girls will be his honorable mention since he hasn't seen it and probably doesn't plan to since he doesn't like the show very much.

I've checked wager happens at the en of Free Birds and this is my response to it...URRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGG!!!!!!!!! Apparently; while most films with Time Travel focus on them realising it causes an adverse affect, by changing it, these smucks are worried not having adverse affects!
I understand the plea. Surely there needs to be a wake up call where Animators realise; "Children Are Smarter Than You Think"?

I looked up the ending too, given the premise you'd think "Failure is the Only Option" is a given. However since the movie is geared toward kids and a subplot involves a large number of avian characters lined up for a bloody slaughter the fact they went in that direction is understandable (you really want to show kids the alternative?). Hell, a similar twist worked in Inglorious Bastards.

So what do you think we'll see in the Oscars this time? If it were up to me, if "Frozen" is good, these would be the three I want to see in the runnings for Best Animated Feature: Frozen Despicable Me 2 The Croods ...and if I had to fill in 2 more spots, I guess... Epic (even though I haven't seen it due to a lack of interest) Equestria Girls (even though everyone hates it)
