By the way, I got a chance to see The LEGO Movie. Honestly, I don't see what was so awesome about it. The trailers made it look awesome, but it was overall a mediocre film.
For one thing, I chose not to see it theatrically because I thought it would be kind of an embarrassment to go see a movie that's target demographic is kids 10 and under.
The trailer showed scenes with all these other pop culture icons, but in the actual movie, they're all in just one scene and then destroyed. Batman is the only one who gets a good amount of screen time, since he's the only one who is actually a main character.
I personally hate Will Farrel, and having him voice the villain is one thing, but did we really need to see him in the flesh too?
The climax at the end was just really weird.
Overall, I'd give it a 7/10. While it didn't blow my mind, I do praise them for the amount of work put into it. It must have taken them over a decade to make this movie!

Well, if you have something against Will Farell; that most likely tainted your viewing experience.
It’s not embarrassing to see it as an older person either. I saw it with my Sister and she’s older than me, and there is something in the film for both age groups. I know NC went to see it and found it good too. And like the film shows, even Adults like Lego.
The climax does make sense too. The entire story sounds like a child came up with it, and that’s because (spoilers) it is a child making the story up. The conflict was an allegory for the relationship between the boy and his father. Because, afterall; Lego is a toy. You don’t see a Toy Story movie where they never acknowledge that they’re toys!
There are a lot of clever points in the movie and the times we see the Big Names, like Superman, Star Wars, etc, were on for a good amount of time. The movie focused on the plot rather than saying; “LOOK! It’s those characters.” You can't depend on the audience saying; "Hey! I know that franchise exists!" to carry the film, otherwise you get Seltzerberg comedies. I have heard there’s more than half hour of deleted scenes which do show more icon characters, but like said; better to focus on the actual plot rather than popular culture characters.
Also, Seven out of Ten is Mediocre!? Five out of Ten maybe, but Seven is above Average!
I found the film to be really awesome and clever, especially compared to other animated films that we been getting this year and the year before.
I know a second Lego movie is in the works, not sure how you be able to properly continue the story though. Any ideas?

Honestly, I don't think it needs a sequel, even though the ending did kind of open a door for one.
Also, bab, what would you classify each 0-10 rating as?

I know it has a sequel bait, but I felt a proper story was told, everyone has their character arcs and they were good.
For Rating; 1-2/10- One Star- Avoid! 3-4/10- Two Star- Could Be Worse. 5-6/10- Three Star- Average 7-8/10- Four Star- Good With Minor Flaws. 9-10- Five Star- Must See!
That make sense?

Where would "Mediocre" fall judging by that?

You can guess what it is for the 'Meh' area.
But like said, The film is far from Mediocre. It has a lot of clever ideas, a lot of amusing moments and an intriguing story.
May I ask, were you a Lego player growing up?

May I ask, were you a Lego player growing up? Okay, I'm totally confused now, bab! First of all, I don't see "Mediocre" or "Meh" anywhere on your ratings list, so I have no clue what you're trying to say. Second of all, you just told me that you thought the LEGO movie was awesome! And now you're telling me that you thought if was MEDIOCRE? Talk about contradiction!

Bab didn't say it was mediocre, did he?
The way I see it, he was just explaining how the ranking of the movies work.

No, I found the film to be really good, in the top tier of rankings for me. Way above Mediocre. Have you seen it, Shawn?

I see that I misread your post, bab. You said it was FAR FROM MEDIOCRE, so my bad. Though, you still haven't answered my question: On a scale of 1-10, where would "Mediocre" or "Meh" fall under?

If you call something "Mediocre", that means you think it was "okay".
The thing is, if you think something is "Decent" you thought it does just enough to pass and found it to be acceptable, but if it's "Mediocre" that would mean that it's "okay but should have been better"--its okay in a bad sense.
Here's how I see it:
10/10 - Outstanding! 9/10 - Excellent! 8/10 - Great! 7/10 - Good! 6/10 - Decent! 5/10 - Mediocre! 4/10 - Poor! 3/10 - Bad! 2/10 - Terrible! 1/10 - Fail!
I know that before you thought being Poor was worse than Bad but on GameSpot they use the same rating scale and 4 is Poor and 3 is Bad.
Hope that helps.

Not sure if this counts as a 2013 film, as it is a Belgium Film, that's only being shown in the UK, but have any of you heard of; The Magic House? Thunder, a stray cat, stumbles across a House that is...as the title suggests, full of all kinds of magic and beings. This is the trailer, I've been able to find. www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2WfvtJyPLIThe designs themselves look good, but what you think of it, Pups? o.o

Well, I just learnt that the film even existed and it's only being released in UK Cinema's this month, so technically, it's still a 2014 Film.
Although, speaking of Late Releases, the Nut Job is only just getting aired to Cinema's in the UK! Not a really good sign when the delay between US and UK Release is half a year, is it?
