So I've gotten a chance to see Big Hero 6 today. I will say it was better than I was expecting. It had a strong story and reminded me a lot of the animes I used to watch in the 98-03 era. I can also see why it's called Big Hero 6 now. I give it a B+. Oh, and the Feast short was really cute!

It happened. For the final major animated film of 2014, here's what AniMat had to say about Penguins of Madagascar:
The Story: 5/10 The Animation: 8/10 The Characters: 5/10
Penguins of Madagascar (2014): 6/10 - Decent!
Well, it was a Madagascar spin-off which is based more on the Nickelodeon cartoon, so I had some doubts.
Edit: Animat did list The Wind Rises for his Top 5 Best and Worst Animated Films of 2014, so he has:
Top 5 Best
#5: The Lego Movie #4: The Book of Life #3: Big Hero 6 #2: The Wind Rises #1: How to Train Your Dragon 2
Honorable Mentions
The Boxtrolls Mr. Peabody and Sherman
Top 5 Worst
#5: Rio 2 #4: Penguins of Madagascar #3: Planes: Fire and Rescue #2: The Nut Job #1: Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return

Well removing My Little Pony: Rainbow Rocks from your list, it would seem that Big Hero 6 would be #1 on there.
I would say it greatly exceeded your original expectations.

Well the Golden Globes were on last night and they ran their picks for Best Animated Feature. They were (winner is bolded):
Big Hero 6 The Book of Life The Boxtrolls How to Train Your Dragon 2 The Lego Movie
I would say that's a good prediction from the upcoming Academy Award for the same category.

I should have known they'd have a couple foreign films in there. Are those official? I still got my money set on Big Hero 6.

There's more American Animations there, than non-American ones, I notice, Belchic. The Song of the Sea one seems like it's frm an Irish Animation Team!? o.o
Is there more than one Song for that case though? I am sure there are more Songs, in 2014, than the Lego one, Correct?

There are more nominees than just the Lego one. Here's all the nominees for the grand showcase of LA showoffs... insidemovies.ew.com/2015/01/15/oscars-2015-nominations/Lego Movie missing a nomination for Best Animated Feature is going down as one of the biggest snubs of the year (other than the Oscar bait racial-driven drama Selma getting significantly less than expected), many critics thought it was a lock to win that category and it was near universally acclaimed by critics. I'm not surprised though, it's image as "glorified toy commercial" probably played a major role in it not getting nominated. I don't think a movie based on a single toy has ever won an Oscar ("Transformers" 1, 2, and 3 got Oscar nominations for special effects and/or sound categories but lost all of them, "Transformers 4" thankfully got shut out). "Toy Story 3" won two Oscars but that movie wasn't seen as a commerical and had Disney and Pixar backing it.

I think it's kind of weird that everyone seems to think HTTYD2 is the best animated film of the year, yet I think Big Hero 6 (a film that I at first had very low expectations about) is more worthy.

The Oscars are coming this Sunday. The nominees for Best Animated Feature are...
Big Hero 6 The BoxTrolls How to Train Your Dragon 2 (and as usual, two foreign animated films in addition)
I've still got my money on Big Hero 6. I don't know why everyone else thinks Dragon is going to win.
Feast has also been nominated for Best Animated Short. I hope it wins!

Not to brag, but...I told you it would win! And you all thought HTTYD2 was going to win. I might also add: "Feast" won for Best Animated Short, so that's 2 for 2!
