Well, AniMatt’s review of Ferdinand is up, and I’m honestly surprised with the results he gave it:
Story: 5/10 Animation: 8/10 Characters: 4/10
Overall: 6/10 Percentage: 56%
So with that in mind, I now know what his Top 5 Best and Top 5 Worst of this year are going to be...
Top 5 Best: #5 - Smurfs: The Lost Village #4 - Despicable Me 3 #3 - Captain Underpants #2 - The Lego Batman Movie #1 - Coco
Top 5 Worst: #5 - Ferdinand #4 - The Star #3 - The Boss Baby #2 - The Nut Job 2 #1 - The Emoji Movie
This means the other four will be honorable mentions. Though if I were to go by classifying them in the best and worst categories, I’d say he’d put Cars 3 and Leap in the Best category, while My Little Pony and Ninjago will go in the Worst category.
It’s easy to see this was not a very strong year for animated films.

The guy at lewtoons was a bit bummed out where he ranked Ferdinand, so yeah this year was not the best year for animated feature films.
I will agree for the most part, this year felt like 2013 all over again.

#1: Coco #2: Cars 3 #3: My Little Pony #4: The Boss Baby #5: The Lego Batman Movie #6: Ferdinand #7: Captain Underpants #8: Despicable Me 3 #9: Leap! #10: The Star #11: Rock Dog #12: The Nut Job 2 #13: The Lego Ninjago Movie #14: Smurfs: the Lost Village #15: The Emoji Movie

I have been able to see; Coco!
I can post that it is a REALLY Good Film! The Animation, Characters and Story are good, and I can definitely see what others mean, when they claim, there isn’ a dr eye in the House, when they see it. What they show, in the Post Credits Scene, is Heart wrming, too.
I admt, since I did have to wait some months to see Coco, I did guess about who the Gret Grand Father and who the Antagonist are, but that is cause it is tough to avoi spoilrs, when you have to wait two months to see a Film!
Still, it is a Really Good Film!
What you think of the Film, Pups!?

I didn’t stay for the Stinger, so I wouldn’t know. Guess I gotta wait for the dvd.

It is not much of a Scene, but more of a tribte to the Family, Of those who work on the Film. When is the D V D, for Coco, avaliable, Belchic?

That I don’t know. It’s too early to determine at this point.
Also, bab, remember what I’ve told you about your spelling. I don’t know where you got this habit of dropping one letter from every other word that you type, but whenever you do that, it confuses me, and I have trouble understanding what you’re trying to say. I’m not trying to be “mean-spirited”, I’m just trying to help you.

Here we go: AniMat’s picks for Best and Worst Animated Films of 2017.
He does say this was a terrible year for animated films. He says:
Now that we’ve done business with babies, texted our rage about emojis, played with a couple of Lego sets and made sweet music with some skeletons, it’s time to sort out which are the best and the worst of 2017!
Top 5 Best
#5: Cars 3 #4: Despicable Me 3 #3: Captain Underpants #2: The Lego Batman Movie #1: Coco
Honorable Mentions
My Little Pony: the Movie and Leap! are Honorable Best The Lego Ninjago Movie and Ferdinand are Honorable Worst
Top 5 Worst
#5: Smurfs: the Lost Village #4: The Boss Baby #3: The Star #2: The Nut Job 2 #1: The Emoji Movie
And now, his first thoughts on the upcoming animated films of 2018:
Early Man – This stop-motion film that looks amazing #1! Isle of Dogs – This stop motion film that looks amazing #2! Sherlock Gnomes – Did anyone order a Gnomeo and Juliet sequel because I sure didn’t! Duck Duck Goose - *sniffs* Smells bland. Animal Crackers – This could either go well or terribly. The Incredibles 2 – THE HYPE! IS! ON! Hotel Transylvania 3 – Can I get something better than another cheap Adam Sandler cartoon? Teen Titans Go! To the Movies – Okay, that’ll do. Small Foot – This concept intrigues me. The Grinch – We already had Chuck Jones and Ron Howard! What more do you want? Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 – THE HYPE! IS! ON! AGAIN! Spider-Man Into the Spider-verse – Sony, I will never trust you but I swear to God but you better not screw this one up like you always do!
I'm gonna say AniMat... sometimes... less is more.

Erm, Trey? I already did that in the Upcoming Animated Films topic. I’d like to hear your thoughts on the upcoming films though. If you were inaccurate in your score calculations try putting the final score first. Anyway, my first thoughts on the upcoming animated feature films of 2018: Early Man – Should be funny. Isle of Dogs – Looks good. Sherlock Gnomes – Lame. Duck Duck Goose – Eh… not interested. Animal Crackers – Honestly? No clue. The Incredibles 2 – That’ll be cool! Hotel Transylvania 3 – And that’ll suck. Teen Titans Go! To the Movies – Cancerous! Oh boy… Small Foot – Interesting. How the Grinch Stole Christmas – We’ll see. Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 – Take my cash! Spider-Man into the Spider-verse – Awesome!

While 2017 is over, there is no need to close this topic just yet. We still have the Academy Awards coming up! The nominees have not been announced yet, but they should by the end of the month.
Looking back at the animated films of 2017, there haven’t been a lot that really stood out.
I think Coco is definitely a shoe-in. That one will for sure be nominated, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it won too. As for the rest...I’m predicting Despicable Me 3 will get nominated because I know that movie did extremely well financially and critically. Though I’m predicting the other three nominees are going to be foreign independent films, because they need to have at least one in there, and honestly, nothing else in the catalog of worldwide releases are really Oscar-worthy. I think one foreign film that’ll definitely be nominated is The Breadwinner, because I’ve heard that film has done extremely well. Now another thing about the Oscars is they always have one stop-motion Animated Film in the Best Animated Feature category, but I did some research and I found out that there actually were not any stop-motion animated films released in 2017, unless the Lego movies count, then there is a chance The Lego Batman Movie could fill a slot.
So that’s my predictions for the nominees:
Coco Despicable Me 3 The Breadwinner (maybe) The Lego Batman Movie and one other foreign independent film (or two if the Lego movies don’t count as stop motion)
What are your pups thoughts?

The animated films of 2017 weren't that great as a whole.
Yeah I'm sure Coco will be nominated I don't know about the rest. However I remember back in 2014 they decided not to nominate The Lego Movie for Best Animated Feature which proved to be a controversial decision so they may give The Lego Batman Movie a nomination as a make-up nod.

I think they have also announce the Annie Awards nominees!
It seems that Cars III & Coco have been nominated for; Bst “Animated” Film! I have a feeling that Coco is likely to have; Bst “Animated” Film, this year!
Olaf’s Frozen Adventure has been nominated for; Animation Effcts, and I think; Tangled The Series has some nominations in Television Animation!
I do not see any nominations for either of the Lego Films, nor any of what “Animated” Films, Which Sony did, though.
What do you think, of these nominations, Pups?
