CellSpex seemed to think the movie was an unexpected surprise. She said she won't be in a rush to see it again sometime soon but she says it seems to work nicely if you are acting as a chaperone for kids.
She also seemed to think it was a big improvement over The Boss Baby.

I just saw AniMat's review of Captain Underpants and, while he calls it the most immature DreamWorks movie to date...he mentions that is what makes it SO GOOD.
Though bear in mind, AniMat is a fan of the books himself so he was looking at the film in a more positive outlook anyway, not the usual stuff you'd expect in a typical, more serious movie.
Story & Animation each got 8/10 Characters got a 7/10
Overall an 8/10 So a pretty good movie, if you enjoy/enjoyed the source material or want a film where you can just shut off the logical side of your mind.

So it wasn't good enough to earn his Seal of Approval, but still good enough for him to give it an 8/10. I still say "HELL, NO!" to this movie.
So far, this is the fourth animated film of the year he has reviewed, and as of right now, it currently ranks second best:
1. The Lego Batman Movie 2. Captain Underpants 3. Smurfs: The Lost Village 4. The Boss Baby
We'll see how Cars 3 and Despicable Me 3 rank when he sees those.

It's official: Captain Underpants was a bomb. This was partially because it was released the same weekend as Wonder Woman, which dominated the box office. So despite all the praise it's getting, the movie was still a financial bomb, and with that said, I just know it is definitely not getting any Oscar nominations.

Cars 3 is next but...
I'm still going to pass on it. Never really cared much for Cars.
Though I do hope we are not in the middle of another threequel burnout, like we did back in summer 2007.
For the curious, in 2007 we had a Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Shrek stayed for a fourth movie and floundered, Spider-Man got remade and disappointed, and Pirates of the Caribbean appeared to bow out gracefully for the time.

For Spider-Man 3, I have to say that there were too many villains in the film, but most were disappointed in Venom's appearance stating he doesn't look like that, the Symbiote doesn't make anyone emo and dance, and that's all true, but the most disappointing aspect is Venom's screen time.
Hopefully we'll see a faithful adaption for the Venom Movie when and if it comes out.

I can see issues with SM3, (even though it's the one Tobey Maguire SM film I haven't seen entirely), but frankly, there is maybe one aspect I like and that's Sandman.

I also remember watching an episode of Death Battle where they said that before the symbiote fused itself onto Spider-Man, it also latched onto a violent criminal and after that, Deadpool (yes, Deadpool!)
Anyway reviews for Cars 3 are coming and for right now... well its... better than Cars 2 at least?
On Rotten Tomatoes its score stands at 63%. That's passable just... barely.
I'm not having high hopes for it though.

I love NASCAR with a passion and appreciate that Pixar puts so much effort about it into its movies, with lots of injokes race fans will get, but I've never been big into the CARS movies either. Maybe it's just I found the first one weird and saw the Doc Hudson Hornet twist coming from the first press release and just never bothered after that.

It looks like this Friday, AniMatt will be releasing his review on Cars 3. We'll just have to wait and see what he thinks of it. Either way, I have doubts about it and will probably pass since I haven't seen the first two Cars films theatrically; I'll be saving my money for Despicable Me 3.

I'm still super excited about the MLP movie! It's the #1 movie I've been looking forward to seeing this year! Then again, I'm probably the only person on this board who is going to go see it in theaters since nobody else on this board really watches the show anymore, plus I know a lot of people here are busy and don't have a lot of money. Eh...Race will probably go see it, but I'm starting to think maybe not for everyone else. I plan to go see it on opening night, and im hoping nothing will interfere with my plan at the last minute.

For now, I did get to read the review of Cars 3 on ultimatedisney.com and the critic said:
For starters, they returned back to the first movie for a story and did away with the radical departure of the 2011 sequel Cars 2. Not exaggerating. The movie acts like there is no such thing as Cars 2. There is like, no reference whatsoever to Mater's globe-trotting adventure in this movie. You don't see any of the spy/conspirator characters here, nor do they get a mention. Cars 3 basically acts like it's a proper Cars 2 that didn't come out of nowhere.
Ultimately it's one of Pixar's weakest films. The worst is still Cars 2, but it kinda seems like there's no real point in this world being an all-car universe.
The story about Lightning McQueen at risk of being forced into retirement and acting as a spokesman (-car?) has some poignancy as one can read it as a metaphor for an accomplished but aging professional athlete but it doesn't seem like something that kids really want to see (the critic even says kids at his screening got restless). There's also a little problem with it being heavily-reliant on racing and well--the story, where Lightning makes a wager with Mr. Sterling that he can still race is...
...at best, he can continue to race like a champion. At worst, he will retire from the sport and live like a millionaire for the rest of his life.
See a problem here? Continue to be a champion, or retire as a millionaire. There's not much at stake here. I... GUESS Lightning McQueen wants to prove that he still has his dignity and he'll finish when he says he's finished, but it seems to make for a rather uneventful summer movie.
In any case, I said it before, and I'll say it again: I will skip Cars 3 (I didn't see the first two Cars movies in theatres either) and like how in 2015 when the Academy chose to nominate Inside Out but not The Good Dinosaur for Best Animated Feature, when they select their nominees for that same category for this year it won't surprise me if they decide to nominate Coco, but not Cars 3.
I will just wait for Despicable Me 3.

Well, there's one. Jeff Gordon's Corvette character "Jeff Gorvette" returns.

They premiere Cars III, on the Disney Cruise, so I am able to see the Film! I'll post about Lou, the Shrt before it. The design of the Character of Lou does show how they are able to put this being together, with what is in the Box, which makes me wonder if this is how they work on how they shall do Coco? It is also bittr sweet, too, but that is a bit of a spoilr. It is a good shrt, and I hear the Human Character also appears in Inside Out. For Cars III, I also consider that one good, too. The Story itself did have what I though would happen, but it works for the Film and is how one would expct Lightning's Character Arc to naturll get. In the case of Characters, I do like the Character of Cruz as she has a lot of good lines in the Film, and how she shows her personality is amusing, too. Mater is not in this Film as much, but he appears when he needs to, as the Story is suppose to be more about Lightning and Cruz, and Mater got a Film himself, as it is. We learn more on the Hudson Hornt, in this Film, and in a way the Film is also a tribte to his Voice, too. I am some what puzzle about what Radiator Springs is a bit of a hush town again, but I assume that has some thing to do with Lightning's Career. The Animation itself is also really good, from the details on the Cars to how good the enviromnts look! Still, I do consider both Cars III & Lou are wrth a watch. What you think of the Film, Pups?

I see that character in the box seems to have a striking resemblance to Hank from Finding Dory. Knowing Pixar, I'm sure that was their intent.
