On the one hand it's great to see that film finally come out. On the other hand "Netflix Exclusive" for a film that isn't made by Netflix itself is usually a sign it isn't very good. See "The Cloverfield Paradox" or how Disney banished "Artemis Fowl" to Disney+ when they realized it was a dud.

I also hear that the Sequel to Chicken Run shall be on Netflix, too.
Though, was that intended for Theaters, or was that always going to be a Netflix Film?

I think you’re thinking of Shaun the Sheep, bab.

With this pandemic we’re under, a lot of movies have no choice but to go straight to streaming.

I know that movie theatres are slowly re-opening but there is still a way to go, namely with showtimes after 7 and social distancing still in effect. I see movies that were coming back even though they were from before the pandemic was declared a state of emergency.
Still going to have to wait for the initially anticipated movies to come as many were delayed.

Things are getting better in SoCal. In fact, my local cineplex just reopened today! So it looks like I’ll get to see Soul theatrically after all!

I think we will have an Oscars ceremony this year after all. It just will have some modifications to it.
My predictions for the nominees for Best Animated Feature are...
Soul Trolls: World Tour Shaun the Sheep: Farmeggeddon Wolfwalkers The Willoughbys
My prediction for the winner: Soul

Yep, I don't see a lot of competition there. I'll also say Soul.

Soul won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film. I predict it’ll win the Critic’s Choice and the Oscar too, but probably not the Kids Choice Award.

The Oscar Nominees have just been announced. Here’s what’s up for Best Animated Feature:
Onward Over the Moon Shaun the Sheep: Farmeggeddon Soul Wolfwalkers
For the most part, I’m not too surprised with these nominations. The only one that really surprised me was Onward. I didn’t think that film had a chance.
Still, I think it’s a given that Soul is going to win. It won all the other award shows so far and was the best-reviewed animated film of 2020. Not to mention, it’s also up for Best Sound and Best Original Score, and if an animated film is up for more than one Oscar, that makes it pretty obvious that it’s going to be the winner, which i know is not always the case, but it usually is.

"Soul" is the favorite and will most likely win; it's Grade A "Oscar Bait" and being nominated in three categories, it is also in the running for Best Sound and Best Original Score, likely shows its a lock. "Wolfwalkers" was also great and would be the underdog but even with Apple backing that one for its streaming service I don't Cartoon Saloon has the resources for a successful Oscar campaign.

You never know. Cartoon Saloon has had some surprisingly successful films like “The Secret of Kells”, “Song of the Sea” and “The Breadwinner”. Though considering it’s a foreign independent film company, it’s highly unlikely it’ll win. That’s only happened once so far.

Well, now that AniMat has officially given his reviews on all 10 of the animated films that were originally planned for this year, had the COVID-19 pandemic not happened this year, this probably would have been his Top 5 Best and Worst for this year:
Top 5 Worst: #5 - SpongeBob: Sponge On the Run #4 - The Croods: A New Age #3 - Minions: The Rise of Gru #2 - Trolls: World Tour #1 - Scoob!
Honorable Mention: Onward
Top 5 Worst: #5 - A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmeggedon #4 - Bob's Burgers: The Movie #3 - The Mitchells vs. The Machines #2 - Raya and the Last Dragon #1 - Soul
Amazingly enough, three of those movies had an unbelievably-perfect 3-way tie!
