There have been some game shows that have been turned to topics for the Misc. section and the Games section. One of those game shows is Family Feud. So, I decided to create a topic about this show right here in the TV Shows section.
Now, there were times when I talked about one of the international versions of the show, the UK version called Family Fortunes. I even made two fanfics and started a roleplay based on that version of the show. But I've started this topic for us to discuss mainly about the American version.
Now, we know how the show works. There are two families of five, and they have to guess the most popular answers to survey questions that have already been answered by a group of 100 people. Each answer has a point value that has been determined by the amount of surveyed people who gave that answer. Each country that has its own version of this show has some rules that are different from others, and each version has gone through some rule changes over the years, but that really depends on how long each version has lasted. Some versions have money being scored in the main game and other versions have points being scored. Some have a set point goal to win the game and others just have families winning by just ending up in the lead. Some have a "pass or play" option for a family who won a faceoff and some have families having to play a question after winning a faceoff. Most versions have five-member families playing and just a few of them have four-member families.
I can talk more about how different each version of the show is from another, but I'll probably do that sometime later. I actually wanted to start off this topic with a rule on this show that I didn't know about until recently. That one rule is that when a family is playing a question throughout a round, a member of that family can't say two things at once. If that happens, the first thing that member said will be accepted, but the second thing said or anything related to it is off-limits to that family, but the other family can use that for the steal. This rule was set to prevent cheating. If a family member said two things at once, then that means they're dropping hints to their teammates, and that's not allowed; members of a family in control of a question each have to come up with an answer on their own and can't help each other out. This is a rule I've found out about after watching an episode hosted by Steve Harvey and a clip of it on YouTube. This one round from this particular episode has been uploaded by different people on YouTube. I've read a lot of comments on those videos to find out what really happened on the day this one episide was taped. I'll post one of those uploads here, right now.
So, there you go. Now, I have been watching Family Feud ever since I was a kid, and I've never paid attention to this rule being mentioned until this one episode. Yes, this rule has been mentioned a few times by Richard Dawson and Ray Combs, according to a few people on the Internet.
Now, I'll be giving other people here a chance to have their say about this show.
