There's been a lot of rumors lately that Disney is about to buy 20th Century Fox. Has anyone else seen this. This would be big if goes through. In addition to all of the big changes people are looking at (Disney gets all the X-Men and Fantastic Four movie rights plus everything Star Wars they don't already own including all the physical and streaming distribution rights for the original six movies) if this goes through Disney would get a third major animation studio, Blue Sky Pictures of "Ice Age" and "Rio" fame, and the rights to a bunch of animated films (Anastasia, Fantastic Mr. Fox) and television series (The Simpsons!, Family Guy, etc.).
Anyone think this is a good idea? A bad idea? Any thoughts?

I have been hearing about this, too!
I think it would be intriguing, when it comes to Marvel Films. I did hear that Hugh Jackman would come back, as Wolverine, if it was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; you could even make it so that he was part of Captain America's Howling Commando, in the Second World War.
I do wonder, if that would mean rebting the Fantastc Four or X Men Films again, or have Spider Man meet with Ded Pool, since I know they get pair together, some times, in the Comics.
I do hear that part of it is also to do with Futuram, so does that mean they are trying to bring that back, too?
I also remember, Pixar did have an idea for a Film, about a Nwt; however, they had to pause that Film, cause it was similar to the Then In Prodiction; Ri.
It may be intriguing to see, what this may mean for some of the Films, Eh? What do you think, Pups?

Keep in mind Bab, that Deadpool along with the Punisher is rated R, so chances of Spider-Man and Deadpool meeting each other till Disney decides to go the R rated route, is very unlikely.
But I've heard that people would be upset that Marvel would get the rights to the X-Men, I personally would like to see how that would go and hope that they will go beyond the Trilogy Limit with the characters for once, cause there's so many stories to tell with these characters. (I'm not talking about Reboots now.)
But I'm hoping that they do get the rights to the Fantastic Four Films, though, cause we need a GOOD Fantastic Four film now more than ever.

I’ve been hearing a lot about this, and I so hope it doesn’t happen. I don’t want to see the Simpsons pop up on Disney properties. It’s bad enough that they’re pushing Marvel and Star Wars so much as of lately!
Then again, if they do buy Fox, that means all of Blue Sky’s films will become Disney property, and they’ll no longer be competitors of them.
I wonder if they’re doing this to appeal more to the adult demographic. That should be interesting to see Disney make their first R-rates movie!

Disney actually already makes R-rated movies. The company owns several film production brands and releases more adult fare under different labels (mostly under the name Touchtone Pictures) when it's not intended for family viewing and they don't want a film connected to the Disney label.

I hear that, technically, Plp Fictio is a Disney Film, as it ws made by a Studio, Which Disney has, when it was made.
I also think that the Marvel Shows, On Netflx, are, a bit, darkr, too! Though, If Disney do get the other Marvel Films, one could make a Dedpool Netflx Show, Eh?

Two-Tone XD babclayman and @race Hmm, didn't know that, but I find it difficult though, since I've never seen an R rated film from Disney, could you two, give me ideas on what films they are? babclayman O.O Wow, Disney got dark and John Travolta's character looked like Tseng from Final Fantasy VII.

Disney never releases anything higher than a PG-13 under its own label, releasing films geared toward more mature audiences under the name Touchstone Pictures. The list of films they've made under that varies wildly from comedies (Splash, Three Men and a Baby, Turner & Hooch, Petty Woman, Mr. Destiny, Adventures in Babysitting, Sister Act, 10 Things I Hate About You), to dramas (The Color of Money [that one won Paul Newman his Oscar], Good Morning Vietnam, Nixon, Rushmore), and action movies (Air Force One, d**k Tracy, Con Air, Face/Off, Armageddon, Starship Troopers, Enemy of the State, and the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds). They even co-produced Who Framed Roger Rabbit as a Touchstone Movie. Jerry Bruckheimer has made a lot of movies for them, Michael Bay's R-rated The Rock for instance was made by Disney under its old Buena Vista Pictures label too.
The Nightmare Before Christmas started as a Disney movie and changed to Touchstone when Disney got nervous releasing a flick like that with its branding. Changes like that go both ways, National Treasure was made as a Touchstone movie until it received a PG rating at which point the branding was changed to Disney and the film was marketed as a family-friendly treasure hunt adventure. The Rocketeer WAS a Disney movie when released in the USA but underperformed at the box office with some thinking labeling it as such made people think it was "kid's movie" so they changed it to Touchstone movie when released overseas (it still underperformed but its a cool flick).
Disney also previously owned Miramax films, another more mature film company which was run by now infamous Weinstein brothers until 2005, from 1993 to 2010 when they sold it off. It was mostly used for more "arthouse" or offbeat films, Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith for instance worked a lot under that label. Films that Miramax produced or at least distributed under during the era Disney owned it include Pulp Fiction (as Bab noted before), Serendipity, the two Kill Bill films, Clerks, The Aviator, Trainspotting, The English Patient, Jackie Brown, The Cider House Rules, The Boy in Striped Pajamas, No Country for Old Men, Extract, and Kate & Leopold. They sold off Miramax to a group from Qatar.

Disney gaining ownership of Fox would have a number of interesting quirks...
It would gain ownership of James Cameron's Avatar just as the sequels approach. They already invested heavily in the Worlds of Pandora for the Animal Kingdom part. That's actually a nice fit.
Don Bluth's final two films, Anastasia (which everyone already thought was a Disney film because it copied their formula so well) and sci-fi cult hit Titan A.E., would go to Disney where he once worked. I wonder if he'd like the irony there.
Epcot supposedly could be getting Brazil and Spain additions to its World Showcase in the future. If they get Blue Sky could they do a "Rio" attraction for Brazil?

The only Touchstone films I can think of that are Disney films are Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Nightmare Before Christmas. What R-rated movies have they done?
As for Disney getting the rights to a few Don Bluth films, that should be interesting considering Bluth was a former Disney animator, So this could lead to them getting the rights to his other films as well (most of which have aired on Disney networks in the past).

I just got word, Pups!
It is Official; Disney now has 20th Century Fox!
Like I post above; Does this mean that Dedpool, Fantastic Four or X Men shall be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
I am also curious; Does that also mean the nw Ferdinand Film is technically a Disney Film, or if it shall affect the Simpsns area, at the Universal Parks?
You hear on this, Pups?

To answer your question, bab: Yes, it does. It also means that they now have ownership of The Simpsons, Avatar, FX, National Geographic, and Hulu! I really hope this doesn’t effect the Disney theme parks like what Marvel and Lucasfilm did!

I'm glad that they finally got the rights to the three films. But I'm hoping that Disney will allow 20th Century Fox to continue with X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Gambit and Deadpool 2. And I'm REALLY hoping that Fantastic Four will get a good film for once after Rise of the Silver Surfer and Fan4stic. But yes, Bab, it does mean that Deadpool, Fantastic Four and the X-Men will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now all they have to do is get rights to Venom along with Carnage, Black Cat and Silver Sable and I'll be happy as a clam at high tide, since you can't have Spider-Man without Venom and Carnage and the others. The reason for X-Men Dark Phoenix is that I've heard that the filming has already been completed and Deadpool 2 would be released this coming year, when in 2018, I don't really know.
