Okay guys, I am now going to give my rationale following my thoughts on the Animated Films of 2024:
Orion and the Dark
This movie just sounds very familiar, like as Belchic says, a rewrite of Monsters, Inc. I guess because that movie is over 20 years old, we are due for an update on this material. I don't think I'll go out of my way to see it though.
The Tiger's Apprentice
Coincidence that amidst some heightened international tensions we are getting something that sounds like a way to appease a country we are not on good terms with.
Kung Fu Panda 4
I have loved all three of the previous movies, so I am going to definitely see this one. It does sound like an appropriate end for this franchise until we get the inevitable revamp. Plus, I'm looking forward to seeing Zhen in action.
The Ark and the Aardvark
Being that this is a retelling of Noah's Ark from the animals' perspective, I may like this one or I may not. We'll see.
Fixed
I do have a fondness for mature cartoons and being that this is from Genndy Tartovsky, I hope he's learned from his experience on Hotel Transylvania. The story sounds all kinds of F'd up though.
The Garfield Movie
I am a Garfield fan, but I'm just being realistic on this one and say it may not be that great. It takes a lot of padding to turn something like a comic strip into a movie. The story does sound like a rewrite of Garfield on the Town, and it may not have the same emotional impact. So, I have my doubts.
Inside Out 2
I did very much like the first Inside Out and I am interested to see how Riley's maturity into being a teenager is going to unfold.
Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie
I am a fan of SpongeBob SquarePants and this movie should be fun.
The Day the Earth Blew Up
I know from past experiences that turning some 7 minute shorts and turn it into a movie is not easy. The WB has a tendency to be indecisive with their IPs, if what they do with the DC comic book heroes is an indication. So, not getting my hopes up.
Despicable Me 4
I am a fan of the Despicable Me/Minions franchise but I will admit I'm nervous about this movie. I felt that by Despicable Me 3 this franchise had run its course, and while I did like Minions: the Rise of Gru I said in my review that it felt like by this point this franchise was running on fumes. Hoping for the best but I have a feeling that for the general public this is when Illumination's golden Lamborghini runs out of gas.
Spellbound
Given how the controversies surrounding John Lasseter and how bungled Luck turned out, this is a no for me.
Ultraman
I'm always up to learn more about the Japanese and I do like robots so I say yes.
Transformers One
I'm a Transformers fan and this is a definite yes.
The Wild Robot
I don't know too much on this one, but given the above, why not?
Thelma the Unicorn
If it's anywhere as good as The Bad Guys (and they share the same author), I'm sold!
Untitled Disney Film
Waiting for a title.
Untitled Wallace & Gromit Film
Waiting for a title.
That Christmas
Christmas is my favorite time of year. I always look for means of being merry and festive, so this one has my attention.
Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim
It's J.R.R. Tolkien's book in animation. Need I say more?
Mufasa
Being honest, the 2019 remake of The Lion King did not have a chance of outdoing the 1994 masterpiece. Being that it's a prequel to that movie seems excessive but.... okay.
