In this topic, talk about an episode from any TV show that was banned, and give an explanation why it was banned.
Show: Dexter's Laboratory Episode: Dial M for Monkey: Barbequer Reason: During the run of the first season, this episode aired regularly, but soon afterwards, it was banned in a lot of countries because somebody complained that the character, Silver Spooner, was a rip-off of Silver Surfer and also depicted as a gay stereotype. It was also because it showed a character drinking alcohol and getting drunk. The episodes that accompanied this episode, "Double Trouble" and "Changes" were removed as well, but later on, Cartoon Network decided to bring those back and put in "Barbequer"'s place, "Dexter's Lab: A Story".
Show: 101 Dalmatians: The Series Episode: Alive N' Chicken / Prima Doggy Reason: Towards the end of "Alive N' Chicken", Spot flies her little aircraft and ends up crashing into the windmill and imagines herself going into Chicken Heaven. Disney decided to ban this episode after the 9/11 attacks thinking that scene would remind people of the events on that day.
Show: Pokemon Episode: Tentacool and Tentacruel Reason: After the 9/11 attacks, this episode was banned because it contained some scenes with Tentacruel destroying skyscrapers.
Show: Pokemon Episode: The Tower of Terror Reason: After the 9/11 attacks, this episode was banned due to it's title.
Show: Pokemon Episode: Holiday Hi-Jynx Reason: Originally, this episode didn't air in America where it chronologically belonged. (There were actually a few episodes that didn't, and it was most likely due to the seizures caused by the infamous Porygon episode, which never aired in the US anyway.) It aired once in December of 1999, but since then, it's never been shown again. The episode was banned because some soccer mom called 4Kids and complained that the Pokemon, Jynx, was a racial stereotype and an insult to African-Americans.
Show: Cow and Chicken Episode: Buffalo Gals Reason: This episode never aired again since it's original air date because it recieved numerous parent complaints about having innappropriate material. Mostly, it was because the Buffalo Gals in the episode were stereotypical lesbians, and that wasn't right to have in a kids' show.

Sounds like an interesting idea to discuss! =3
Yeah, i know this episode. I actually think they thought too hard on that. I mean, if it was two windmills standing next to each other and two planes crashed with explosions, and then there was a giant smoke cloud with the windmill coming down and death occuring, maybe. But since the tower didn't collapse nor did the plane explode or any death occur. I find it disappointing, we lost a VERY Good episode of the Series =3 That & "Prima Dog" were Very good episodes =3
So it wasn't terrorists flying plan into a building, it was a giant jellyfish! For crying out, it's a Giant monster attack, of course buildings are going to get destroyed. By that logic, almost every single Godzilla movie or episode to that Power Rangers thing, should be banned! o.O
Woah, that's a bit of a stretch. I mean, there is a Disney ride called "Tower of Terror" In fact there are 4 of them across the world. Doesn't mean Disney would ban people from riding it due to 9/11 references.

When they were planning to make the Tower of Terror ride for the one in California, they were considering changing the name of it due to the 9/11 attacks, but they decided not to. I think the other rides were closed down around the time of the attacks, but as a matter of fact, Disneyland was completely closed down the whole day on September 11, 2001.

This isn't so much of a banned episode, but one that was edited because of the whole 9/11 thing from what I had read anyway. The SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Just One Bite" was edited, removing scenes of Squidward actually breaking into the Krabby Patty Vault, which apparantly had shown him being burned and what have you because of a security device or something like that.

Interesting topic. Here's one I read about:
Show: Family Guy Episode: Partial Terms of Endearment Reason: This episode was about Lois agreeing to become a surrogate mother for her friend who was not capable of having a baby. Unexpectedly, her friend and her husband were killed in a car accident and Lois now had to choose between having the child or having an abortion. This episode will be on an upcoming DVD boxset, but the reason it will not air on TV is because even though the show is known for political incorrectness, it deals with a very delicate subject in a very fragile economic time and some people may find it upsetting.

I remember a couple of Pokemon eps that were banned
Show: Pokemon Episode: Electric Soldier Porygon Reason: the infamous episode that caused japanese children to siezure as a result the ep was banned not only in Japan but around the world
Show: Pokemon Episode: The Legend of Dratini Reason: This episode which also features how Ash caught all his Tauros also featured a safari zone warden with an itchy trigger finger who shot at just about everybody and everything, the ep was banned because of the gunplay
Show: Pokemon Episode: Holiday at Acopalo aka Beauty and the Beach Reason: during the beauty contest James dressed in drag used inflatable breasts to gain an unfair advantage in the beauty contest, the sequence was removed when 4Kids eventually dubbed the episode
Show: Pokemon Master Quest Episode: The Ice Cave! Reason: the episode featured Brock coming down with flu like symptoms which reflected Anthrax as a result the ep was banned.
Show: Pokemon Advance Episode: Shaking Island Battle! Barboach vs Whishcash! Reason: due to Earthquakes in japan this episode was banned due to the move Earthquake being used

Show:: Rocko's Modern Life Episode: Leap Frogs Reason: The plot was about Mrs. Bighead trying to seduce Rocko, and after the original Nick broadcast, it never aired again (at least in the US) Show: KaBlam! Episode: Untitled (Why June Refuses to Turn Page?) Reason: Alright, THREE reasons (it was shown on Nick many times until it was cancelled and started to air on Nicktoons): Reason #1: One of the shorts in the episode was Angela Anaconda, and (as of today) owned by Fox, so Nick would get in trouble for copyright issues. Reason #2: For the theme of death in the Action League Now! short, and for some strange reason, Nick thought it was too dark (yet they go ahead and air ZIM, Avatar, and Danny Phantom). The short was also part of an episode of the ALN TV show, and the episode got banned after it was returned to Nicktoons in 2007. Reason #3: The begining had a scene where June was pretending that she was a talk show host and she was wearing (possibly) fake breasts in the scene to look "grown up", so it could also be banned due to Nick finding it "suggestive". Show: The Ren & Stimpy Show Episode: Man's Best Friend Reason: The ending had Ren beating up him and Stimpy's new owner with an oar, violently. it didn't air until Ren & Stimpy's Adult Party Cartoon. Show: Sailor Moon R Episode:The Sea! An Island! A Vacation! The Sailor Senshi Relax! Reason: It had nothing to do with the overal plot of the season (making the episode an entire BLAM), and also, the director hated it (it's not a very good episode anyway). I mean, c`mon, Rei owning a speed boat and beach house? Usagi affording a vacation for her and five other girls with her own money and her parents saying "yes" without coming? Chibiusa making friends with a dinosaur? I mean, WHAT? Show: Sailor Moon Episode: Sailor Venus's Past! Minako's Tragic Love Reason: Dispite being a slightly crucial episode, DiC cut it out of the dub because the storyline was too deep for a children's show in the U.S

Whilst i am unsure whether this episode is banned. Nor do i know whether they still show this show.
But i remember there was an episode of the Animated MIB series, where K accidentally lost his memories. However there was a scene in that episode in which they nearly crash a ship into the "World Trade Center"
Chances of them showing that episode after 9/11 would be pretty low. =/

Those episodes didn't air in the US at all; they were not "banned". Although, I am pretty sure that the Porygon episode was definately banned after it's original air date in Japan.

Show: Lilo and Stitch: the Series Episode: Cannonball Reason: This episode was about Lilo and Stitch trying to capture an experiment in Jumba's elemental natural disaster series (the natural disasters were all #500s). This particular experiment was Experiment 520 (hidden meaning is H20), whom Lilo named Cannonball, an experiment designed to use his butt to create tidal waves. While this episode was perfectly fine during its original run, on December 26, 2004 Indonesia was hit by an earthquake (recorded 9.3 on the Ritcher scale, one of the biggest in human history) which generated one of the biggest tsunamis that hit Southeast Asia resulting in numerous deaths and many people still reported missing. Due to these events, this episode was temporarily pulled from syndication but returned in February 2005.

Yeah, Electric Soldier Porygon was banned from Japan as well as the world due to the flashing lights caused by Pikachu's Thundershock hitting Team Rocket's missles which trigger seizures in many children (which was parodied in a Simpsons episode when the Simpsons went to Japan). Also the other eps were undubbed by4Kids as a result were never aired here so they are considered banned (save for Holiday at Acopalo which was dubbed as Beauty and the Beach but was edited heavily to remove the beauty contest sequence due to James and the inflatable breasts)

I think it was because since James was Female in the Japanese Dub, and since he's male in the English dub, it be quite weird with him wearing a bakini. =p But i guess i can see how the inflatable breasts would be passable. Japanese dubs are usually more relaxed for adult humour (They even have Stitch say "Sh!t" in his Anime) o.o

Still, I don't think those should count as "banned" episodes since they didn't air in America. Kind of a stupid excuse to call them that. They may have been banned in Japan, but they didn't air in America. That would be like saying that listening to a CD on your Playstation counts as playing video games. So, it doesn't count in my book.
