These are just some movies coming out this year that I am planning on checking out:
The Lorax Madagascar 3 Brave Wreck-It Ralph
That's all I know for now. If I think up any others, I'll update that list.

I know it's not animated per say, but they're coming out with a new movie version of the musical Les Miserables (which I'm so planning on seeing despite the fact that Taylor Swift is playing Eponine ><)
I really would like to see The Lorax and Brave, and maybe Wreck-It Ralph. I have no interest in seeing Madagascar 3. I'm honestly surprised they're trying to save the franchise.

This is what AniMat has to say about the upcoming animated films of this year:
Ariety: Cool. The Lorax: Doubt. Pirates: Great. Madagascar 3: Not sure. Brave: Gonna be good! Ice Age 4: Not another one! Paranorman: Interesting. Hotel Transylvania: Help me, Jesus! Frankenweenie: Can't wait! Wreck-It Ralph: Maybe. Rise of the Guardians: Awesome.
Now that I know all the animated films coming out this year, I do want to see: The Lorax Madagascar 3 Brave Frankenweenie Wreck-It Ralph
Maybe I'll see: Pirates Paranorman Rise of the Guardians
The rest of them, I'll pass.

I am considering taking Kendra to see Brave as it looks like her type of movie. =3
Pirates, That's the new Arradaman one right? From the same people as Wallace & Gromit. I admit it be good to see an animation which ISN'T CGI, this year.
I agree with the Ice Age one, Milking a Franchise much? Rise of the Guardians, That a sequel to the Owl movie?
I'll see when they come out.
What you Pups think? *Hugs* X3

Something tells me that Disney made the right decision ending the 101 Dalmatians franchise after 101 Dalmatians II.
Then again, if Disney somehow does make a 101 Dalmatians III, chances are since we're in the years of CGI animation, chances are they'll make it into a CGI movie, thus bringing disgrace to the franchise.
Oh and Bab, I checked Rise of the Guardians on Wikipedia, it said "Not to be confused with "Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole"

Shadow is right. Rise has nothing to do with Legends. I don't know much about it, but it looks like a Christmas movie. I do know that Dreamworks is the company behind it. I'm not a big fan of Dreamworks, although I did enjoy Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon a lot. So to me, Dreamworks is sort of hit and miss, but I might check Rise of the Guardians out.

Yeah, Dreamworks is a so-so film company, there are good movies like Shrek 1 & 2 but then some say the latter 2 movies of the franchise were alot weaker. ^^;
Blue Sky, they did Rio, right? Let's just hope they know when to give the Ice Age a break. Wasn't the sequel called "The Meltdown"? Doesn't that mean the ice is going?
Brave seems to be a pretty good looking film, so I'll say that'll probably be the top animated film of 2012. What you Pups think? =3

Bab, you need to understand something here: Ice Age is Blue Sky's baby. Each of the 3 CGI animation companies has their own franchise that they love to milk for what it's worth. Dreamworks' baby is Shrek. Pixar's is either Toy Story or Cars.
If I was to guess what the nominations for next years Academy Awards for animated film of 2012, I would say:
Brave Secret World of Ariety Pirates! Band of Misfits Frankenweenie Rise of the Guardians
By the way, what are this year's nominations? Does anyone know?

This year's Oscar nods for Best Animated Film are... A Cat in Paris Chico & Rita Kung Fu Panda 2 Puss in Boots Rango
My money is on Rango, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss in Boots are both sequels so if either wins it's probably because Dreamworks bought the committee (which happens). Maybe one of those art house ones will upset this year. No animated films were nominated for Best Picture.

Maybe one of those art house ones will upset this year. No animated films were nominated for Best Picture. That may be for the best, Race. None of the animated films last year were all that good. Maybe there were some good ones, but none of them were astoundingly mind-blowing like Toy Story 3.

I think I agree with you Race, Dreamworks pretty much owns the Annies, so they'll most likely get ALL the nominations and all the triumphs. Although, didn't the other Animated companies say they would all pull out if it happened?
If it weren't for Dreamworks rigging, I probably would have put my Money on "TinTin" as best Animated Movie of 2011. That film was WOAH! It's written well, The Animation is astounding, the characters are amusing to watch, you get genuine laughs out of it, There's literally a three minute chase scene, through a Morocan town, all done in ONE shot! That's impressive!
Anyone seen that movie?

I didn't, I wanted to (Tintin is a journalist like me, I'm familiar with the character from his old cartoon and it looked like a fun flick) but with everything going on of late I didn't make it out.
I'm shocked Tintin was nominated for Best Animated Feature especially because it did try to innovate a bit and seemingly succeeded. Isn't Spielberg actually well-liked by the Oscar committee he made since Schlinder's List? I can't explain it.

It was a VERY good Movie, with the various reasons I stated above.
When you said you were shocked, did you mean that it 'Wasn't' nominated, or did it get nominated?
